The Imagineering Common Area - A Discussion Thread

I just wanted to say how impressive the work you all do is! Looking through all your amazing projects has really made me put my creative nose to the grindstone in designing my first armchair imagineered resort. And while it may not be as visually robust (still working out the park maps thing and such), I hope that it can least scratch the surface of the creativity you've all presented!

I'm having a great time working on it a little each day and really wanted to thank you all for providing a space not just to share my own creative ideas, but to get immersed in yours as well!
Can't wait to see it!

Say @Mr. Sullivan how is your resort going. Well I hope.
Very well! I work on it some every day! Almost done with my castle park, then I'm moving on to the other gates! I've still got a lot of work to do but I'm probably gonna post stuff park by park when I've got them finished, so hopefully you'll see some of it soon!

I'm going to attempt some maps but you all will have to forgive me if they're terrible.

I changed my name. You will see my new name which is entirely original but still muppet themed. To be honest I didn’t like the old one it was really only temporary. It is still the same account and the name is currently being approved by a moderator.

Working on my first map right now and it doesn't look as disgusting as i thought it would. I'm not really doing it ground up, definitely just Photoshopping based upon an existing park map but it's not going too bad. Need to do more detailed write ups on some of the original attractions, but once the map and that's done I can start opening up a thread and going over my imagined resort one park at a time

Have been quite sick as of late but now that I'm pulling through, can finally finish up what I was working on and start a thread. I've rage quit on maps for now, but am supplementing by spending time doing some ride synopsis for my original attraction ideas. Having a great time! Moving a park at a time within my resort concept, probably will only present one park at a time and space out work on them.

We've only got just this trailer and already I can tell this movie is perfect for the 100th anniversary. Everything about this just screams "classic Disney magic" and I love it.

(Also, got to love how they almost immedately establish the villain right out the gate, as if to say "Yes, we know it's been way too long since we've had a straightforward villain, too.")

A more innocent time...

Some of you may remember my initial attempt at designing a Disney resort that I cancelled because I put cart before horse and just lost track of it.

But I am resurrecting the idea of creating a resort of my own once more, but this time taking it slower, using what I learned from Sorcerer's Apprentice and What If, and am gonna take it one park at a time rather than starting with a resort and working backwards.

Get hype. My brain is FULL of ideas.

I have decided I'm gonna pull the trigger on my personal projects despite my map making skills being non-existent.

I am in the process of learning, but god knows when they'll be at any sort of presentable level. I really don't want to hold off on working on the things I'd like to work on because I don't have the map making skills to go along with them. So, I'm just going to do the projects with my prose (which i know is up to presentation level), photos, and some basic sketches of things, in particular layouts to help convey what I'm trying to put across.

It's not gonna be up to the standards some of you have with your brilliant creations, but I'd like to do stuff outside of just the competitions and this feels like the best way to do it. I can always come back and make maps later on, but I'd rather get the projects out into the world first.

If you'll excuse the not so good sketches and maybe just blobs of color in the outline of a park to show the way lands are structured out, and if you'll enjoy the words I'm using to describe, then I hope you'll enjoy what I'm working on!

There are a few projects over the recent years that had users employ mapmakers to create some concept designs for them- most notably Imagineerland’s help with the Sydney Disneyland project- so if you ever need a helping hand that’s not Imagineerland you know where to go 😉

turns out we probably won’t be getting 10 submission for this round of the OSC, so i guess this will have to remain a secret until summer :p
