Winner Announced!!

(There’s a giant crowd in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre… old contestants, characters, all sorts of magic friends from all across WDW Magic.)

(Mater, the judges, and the 2 finalists Chronoymous and Fractal514 stand on the edge of the Fantasmic! rock platform.)

Mater: Hey everyone! Welcome to the finale of The Imagineer Game! How’s it goin’?

(Uproarious cheers)

Mater: Great! So, before we announce the big winner, we’d like to take this time to acknowledge some very special people. First of all, let’s thank the Walt Disney Company, and especially Mickey and Minnie (who first granted park access to our Imagineers). Without them, none of this could be possible.

(A Disney Lawyer runs on stage and proclaims)

Lawyer: WDWMagic is a fan site and has no official affiliation or endorsement with the Walt Disney Company in any way, shape or form.

Mater: Okaaay… and speaking of WDWMagic, we’d like to thank everyone who makes the game possible: all admins and administrators, and (of course) Steve, creator of the boards!

(GIANT cheers!)

Mater: Finally, I’d like to thank our Judges, contributors, as well as ALL of our contestants. Thank you for helping with such a successful season.

(Sid, in the front row, stands up)

Sid: HEY! What about me?? I OWN THIS STUDIO!!

Mater: Of course Sid. How could we forget you? Anywho, are you guys ready to find out who the winner is?

(A giant “YES!" from the crowd)

Mater: Okay! Okay! May our finalists, Fractal514 and Chronoymous please stand on this platform. Thank you. So after 13 Projects, many ideas and a lot of hard work, it comes down to this. One of you standing here will be the winner of “The Imagineer”… the envelope, please…?

(Hack2112 exits the stage… and doesn’t come back for a few minutes… he enters, but without an envelope…)

Hack: Pssssst! Pssssssssssssssssssssssst! Hey! Mater! It’s not back here!

MaterA113: Really…? OH! Darn it! I must have forgotten to tell TrevorA to pre-set the envelope…

TrevorA: Actually, you told me, but I told TheMadHatter…

Disneyson 1: OH! He told ME, but, uh… I forgot.

(TrevorA smacks Disneyson on the back of the head!)

Mater: Does anyone know the winner of this game????

(Gasps from the audience… What is it? It’s Tinker Bell! She spreads golden pixie dust across the stage, and then flies to the stadium. The whole island is washed in light and sparkles beautifully. Finally Tinker Bell lands on MaterA113’s shoulder)

Mater: What’s that?

Tink: *tinkle tinkle tink*

Mater: Really?

Tink: *tink tink tink*

Mater: Alright then! Everybody, LOOK UP!

(The crowd looks up into the sky as Tinker Bell writes the name of the winner in the sky… the winner is…)

FRACTAL514!

(Cheers, happiness, etc. The two teammates shake hands on a job well done and the stage becomes a hugging session.)

Mater: That’s all for this season of The Imagineer! Join us in August for The Imagineer 3, and beginning next Tuesday we have The League of Dreamers, still taking applications. Until then, SEE YA REAL SOON!

----------------------------
That is it... Thanks to all the contestants, and congrats to both Chronony and Fractal. Hope to see you both back next season. I will be posting my critique shortly. Judges feel free to do the same...

Public! NOW is the time you can post your comments in relation to the various projects!!

I really liked Fractal's and Chronoymous's project. I just thought that the land to go with ToT didnt seems to fit in a Disney Park(other than the nightmare before christmas part). It seemed to fit more in Universal or someplace like that.

Congrats to both finalists and congrats to Fractal for winning :D

WOW!!! Just got back from my three day camping trip to find out I won! What a great surprise waiting for me. Thank to all the judges and to everyone who voted, whether for me or Chrony. And a special thanks to Chrony who was my favorite person to work with throughout the contest, way back when we made that Weenie for Dinorama.

I can't wait to read the judges comments and hear from other fellow Imagineers.

Here is my notes from the judging the projects! (please excuse the unorganized version, as i was just typing in short hand)

Fractal514-- Music
-Name of alnd harkens back to hollywood era-- in my mind--, and the time period and sense, i like it a lot
- LOve the small touch of the street performer, as ALL lands in DHS have one
- Marvelous Manic Metronome-- backstory was good, but its a similar downfall attraction, and ToT is literally RIGHT NEXTDOOR, its ok
- Silly Symphony Pavilion-- like the connection to Animation Ctyd and Sunselt Blvd., it seems very orignal
-Dark ride seemed ok, but it was too literal of the short, frame by frame, and kinda boreing because of that, i think something better would have been a ride thru several Silly Symphonies, not just one.
-Joeys was a good orignal idea, and the back story was great, and loved the expanded offerings
-Name of the shop could use some work, but it was good, and the shop was unique

Chrononymous-- Horro
-back story seemed ok in the beginning, but then just seemed jumbled as you continued the land review
-Waves of Fear-- liked the watercoaster, but story and idea were ok, but defintly NOT taken as far as they could, seems too simple, i like the movie idea, BUT where do the Disney Villians come into play? YOu mentioned them, then never talked about them again
-Villains Lair--i liked this idea, and with a bit more work it could work realistically, i DID like teh AA villains
-Shop was too generic
-Halloween Town was ok, and the rides were good, i think the Nightmare Journey SHOULD have been your attraction you described indepthly NOT the WoF, i wanted to know more
-Overall, the Horror area seems too jumbled... you have fears, villians? and NBC, be better if you just took ONE idea and expanded it to HORROR, overall, when we made this project we were thinking like Horror films, not like villians and NBC, but thats ok... And always, great drawings :)

Thanks all for playing you all grew a bunch, and hoped you learned a lot... See you in Season 3... Until then, ill be judging on Trevor and MEWs League of Dreamers, sign ups end Tuesday, so sign up while you can (even if you dont have a team)

I too was concerned about having a perceived "drop ride" so close to TOT, but I think perhaps the mechanics of the ride didn't get explained properly. While the ride does go up and down, it does so relatively slowly. The main motion of the ride is the back and forth rocking, the motion of being on a metronome. I seriously debated this ride for awhile, but when I showed it to my students, they all said how awesome it looked and how much they'd want to ride it. I should have made it clear what the ride mechanic would actually be.

As for the dark ride, I think you are right. The battle scene is just something I've always thought would make for a great dark ride sequence and so I think I got focused on getting us to that scene. Perhaps I could just keep that scene and take the best scenes from some of the other symphonies.

Thanks for the feedback. IF you don't mind in a day or two I will post my feedback on the contest and the judges in the feedback thread, something I was hesitant to do until the contest was over.

I guess you are saying that The Marvelous Maniac Metronome will be Disney's answer to SeaWorld's SkyTower.

No, I said that the up and down component of the ride is slow. I also said that the motion of the ride was similar to that of a metronome.

Go look at that, that's a metronome, that's what I want to recreate. :)

Yes
I'll do Fractal's now, and Chron's later.

For starters, I really enjoyed how you chose the music theme, and yet you strayed from the current "rock and roll" vibe that exists in the area now. The project was nicely thought out, especially the name, and it reflects the Hollywood Studios as a whole. As an impatient park guest, I would have to protest your choice in placing all of your additions in the same courtyard as Rock 'n Roller Coaster, but otherwise you were spot on, logistically speaking.

The Metronome attraction was forgettable, probably because Tower of Terror is in such close vicinity. The Silly Symphonies dark ride was a good alternate, even if it - or the entire pavilion, for that matter - didn't cohere with the whole "Tin Pan Alley" theme. Joey's was near perfect, I can't see anything to criticize. And shops are shops, you really can't get those wrong.

Very nice job, you've earned your spot as the winner!

I'm really sorry about not posting feedback, but it's been a hell of a weekend, and I haven't had as much time as I wanted to to fully critique the pieces. Don't worry, though, as it will be done by tomorrow, now that I'm home.

I just got back into town after the longest week away...

and just saw the results now...

CONGRATULATIONS FRACTAL!

Your idea totally rocked and you absolutely deserved the win!

I loved the historical elements and the amazing research you did on your idea. And it fits so beautifully...dare I say, Harmoniously? into the Studios!

I agree with everything the judges said. My idea never really gelled together the way I wanted it to.(and I rrushed to get it written up without a computer!)

Horror plus Disney plus Movies is not an easy marriage (the way it is in Universal for instance.)
I probably should have gone for TV horror, which was my original idea. I actuially statred out trying to make a Villain darkride and realized how difficult and daunting that prospect was.

Anyway...Fractal just wanted to say you did a truly amazing job, and I was honored to be in this contest with you at the end!

and THANK YOU to the judges too! You guys are great~!

and now I'm taking the summer off...at least until I get a computer back!
