Project 6: Dueling Disney Hotels!

Mater: Hey! Today you and your teams are going to have your most difficult project to date… But before that we have re-divided the teams to so each has 6 people on it. I must say sorry for any problems, these were all drawn out of a hat. We have also chosen the new team leaders for this challenge.

Now to your project, this will be a big project, in fact this will be two projects in one, and it is SO big that both of you will work together for one giant team consisting of all 12 of you, but having separate jobs. Your project is…. To make a Dueling Disney Hotel, a hotel with a Deluxe Hotel and DVC Hotel, similar to the Boardwalk or Beach Club, something that can be used by guests and DVC holders alike. You two teams will be together, but each will have its individual task it must complete. Goofy’s Brainstormers you will work on the deluxe portion of the hotel, and Chip N Dales Imagineering Rangers you will be working on the DVC Addition.

Here is what is needed from each team:

Goofy’s Brainstormers: Deluxe Hotel- pool, room layouts, 2 restaurants, lobby, and feature

Chip N Dale’s Imagineering Rangers: DVC Addition- pool, villa layouts, restaurant, lobby and recreation

Team Leaders it is your job to get the theme and organization of the whole project together. The project should be posted AS ONE! Might I suggest delegation for each portion of the NEEDS in the list above to one person on the team that would make it easier.

Reminder, even though this is a double team project, we still will have elimination.

Mater: Alright guys… this is a hard one… I’ll have to give you a slightly extended time period for this one…

-Overall Theme and Layouts (by Team Leaders)
-Deluxe Hotel:
- Pool
- Room Layouts
- 2 Restaurants (design and theming)
- Lobby Design
- Special Feature (similar to Geyser in Wilderness Lodge)
-DVC Hotel
- Pool
- Villa Layouts
- Restaurant
- Lobby
- Recreation (like the Night Clubs in Boardwalk, or boats/yachts at Yacht and Beach Club)
Due: Saturday March 27th 9pm EST!!!

I'll throw this out there now, as it's probably a big deal... I will be gone all day tomorrow and Saturday at a wedding and will have VERY limited internet access, if any. I'll be back mid-afternoon on Sunday. Given the importance of getting such a large project off and running, should we switch up leaders for this task? I hate to give it up, but feel I'd be a detriment to the entire project due to my schedule. Sorry.

As much as I'd like to suggest a Marvel themed hotel :zipit:,

I think we should create a hotel rivaling the Disneyland Hotel (themed around magic and classic Disney.)

Here are some quick ideas I got:

The Magic Kingdom Resort - an art noveau inspired resort in the Magic Kingdom area made to look like a classical fairy tale town with the Deluxe Hotel resembling a french chateu and the DVC area looking like a picturesque medieval village.

The World Showcase Resort - Each country in World Showcase will have its own corresponding set of rooms and villas right inside the park. Guests will be able to choose between the 9 countries where they could stay.

Amazon Tower Lodge - An Animal Kingdom area resort where the deluxe hotel could be a massive tree house, inspired by the Ariau Towers Resort in the actual Amazon: http://enchantingeden.files.wordpre...n-towers_tree-house-hotel_www-brics-dk_11.jpg

There are 11 countries in World Showcase, not 9.

Let's expand on this Magic Kingdom Idea:

Why don't we make the Magic Kingdom hotel divided into sections:

Lobby- Kinda a pre-MK room, featuring scetches, etc.

Main Street-First 2 floors

Frontierland- Floors 3 and 4

Liberty Square- 5th and 6th Floor (Maybe a row of "haunted" rooms)

Tomorrowland- 7 and 8 floor

And DVC area based around the largest area of the park, Fantasyland

Not really. I wasn't thinking along the lines of representing a land,most of them already are. I was thinking something like DLH in DL. It captures the feel...

Personally I don't think having different themed areas (MK lands or WS countries, etc) work for a Deluxe Resort. While they can oviously been done well, I still think they break up the synergy of the overall resort into smaller sections, something that none of the current deluxes do at all.

I think there needs to be a central theme that flows throughout, but nothing too over the top.
