I think I get it...kind of. If you could explain just a little more that would be great.I'm posting a short explanation below of something we are thinking about. Do you guys understand it? Do you think it is simple?
Additionally, here are a few nicknames we have brought up for the annual awards, with our favorites bolded..."Rollies" (as in Crump)..."[Golden] Micks" (as in Mickey)..."Walts" (as in Disney)..."Baxters" (as in Tony)..."Immies" (as in Imagineers). Which ones do you guys like? Do you have any other ideas?
Please comment below. The interactivity here is great.![]()
Ok, I looked into it a bit and I think I get it! Will this be part of a new point system? I like it. If so though, I think it should also maybe be averaged out with something like the current point system.I think I get it...kind of. If you could explain just a little more that would be great.
I like the Walts and The Golden MickeysNo other ideas particularly come to mind right now, but I'll let you know
Maybe something can be based off of a classic ride, but I don't know. This is the name of all awards, though, right?
AgreedI like the immies personally
To your second point, yes. To your first...I think I get it...kind of. If you could explain just a little more that would be great.

Since I voted Matthew at first place, he gets 4 points. Mark gets 3, Luke gets 2 and John gets 1.

Yup, that helped. Thanks, and I like it more nowTo your second point, yes. To your first...
Let's say I take Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, I can rank them based on how they performed. We'll pretend this is my ranking...

Then, say Voxel's ranking looks like this...

Finally, we add up everyone's points.
Matthew = 4 + 3 = 7
Mark = 3 + 2 = 5
Luke = 2 + 4 = 6
John = 1 + 1 = 2
Thus, after combining each voter's ranking you get the final, averaged out ranking...
Hope that helped. This is how they get the "PTS" column here on ESPN.

We are discussing it as a possible way to replace the point system because, as it stands, it is pretty complicated and a bit unfair (host points-are they really the better competitors all the time?).Ok, I looked into it a bit and I think I get it! Of course, the AP poll setup would be more of a subjective gauging of public opinion, not a point system. I do like the idea of "tank points"...but mostly because it reminds me of thisThis came up in a PM of mine, and I had a few thoughts(and a few more)
I agree about the host points; there can be up to 20 maybe competitors in a season of competitions, and none of them will win as much points as the host. Now, I like that hosts shouldn't be penalized as the site says for having a comp, but it could use a bit of fixing up. Also, co hosts should maybe earn say 20% less than the reg host, and also I dont think eliminated players that come to help judge should earn any. It can just be to help out and for fun, because otherwise it can and will lead to some eliminated people earning more points than people that made it farther, some that can't help host in the first place, which is a bit unfair.
I also had an idea that maybe there should be another set of points for things like the Shark Tank or Think Tank, so that people on the forum with lots of creative ideas still get rewarded even if they dont like the competition or nature of the comps. They can be the "tank" points!(just making a bad joke to point out a coincidence I just noticed)
Also, as I said above here, maybe both of the regular point system as well as the new one you recently proposed should be averaged out together to make the final rankings.
That's all from me...![]()

I don't know why I find this so funny

We would probably do them after each competition, or after certain intervals in the schedule. The points from the AP style poll do not carry over to the next poll. A new poll would occur and new points assessed. So we would fill out different polls which then result in new point totals after each comp. So if, say, Matthew didn't compete in the next comp but the others did, they would probably be ranked higher by voters (if they believe them to be better competitors, like a football team). Then, we average it out, and Matthew would probably drop to a lower spot in public conjecture once we average the submitted polls out for that specific time.I've never seen that showI guess it is pretty popular, though?
Then, just curious, would the AP points be worth anything in the long run, such as for E8 related or an award? Or just for a neat little stat? Either way is cool
I may have encountered a bit of a, well maybe not problem, but something to consider...
These votes where you rank everyone take place every week, but what about when some people, or even no people, post anything throughout the week, as I'm sure that would happen.

Then I think that is where the judges play a roll. At the end of their challenges they rank up all the players? I think this system would work best for the Immies...Of course, the AP poll setup would be more of a subjective gauging of public opinion, not a point system. I do like the idea of "tank points"...but mostly because it reminds me of this...
