Whiny??? My grandparents, who were DIE HARD Sox fans, never got to see a World Series victory. That entire generation of fans wanted one thing from their team and they never got it. I'm not saying that I was frustrated because "I" never witnessed one...but because the "CITY" hadn't witnessed one in so long. I understand that I just turned 26 and that really isn't THAT long of a time in the scheme of things. 26 isn't THAT long of a time to go without a championship...but 86 is.
The SuperBowl has been around for...well...38 years (39 this year) and Philly hasn't won in 38 years. 38 is not a lifetime...and there are many teams that haven't won in 38 years.
I'm not saying that you should be nice to every team. There are rivals out there and that's to be expected with competitive sports. There are teams out there that every fan will have a grudge against but unless a specific fan has done something to you, you should not bash another team's fans...because they are no better or worse than you are. They are just fans that love the team and love the game...just like you. Before you go around calling fans "whiny" maybe you should look back at posts that you have made in the past complaining about how the Eagles are doing and how they have come so close... (Not one person on these forums has called you "whiny")
I know that you probably didn't mean to focus that term on me...and I understand that...but you lumped us all together.

Brian, don't try to reason with me in sports. I will always say what I believe, right or not. So I don't like your team and I've had a thing against your fans ever since my New England roommates and their friends tormented me in college. It's nothing against you. Don't take it personally. And don't try to change how I feel. You can support who you want, I won't try to change that. I don't like your team, I don't want them to win. Accept it. You can not support my team, I'll accept that. I am not a "friendly" sports fan. I will never be that "Oh, I wish the best for another team." So there's no use in reasoning with me on that.

I spent many a trip to Boston and never clocked the Sox fans a whiny. All the ones I met - and I met a great many of them - took the whole curse of the Bambino in good spirits and with great humour, they were a credit to what a true fan is - following the team because it is their local team - not just jumping on the bandwagon because they win things (The British posters will be thinking "Manchester United" fans at this pointMerHearted said:

It's sports, guys. Try not to take everything I say in sports to mean things seriously. I am not a friendly fan, I am ruthless person when it comes to sports. So don't take things I say in a sports context like "Oh no! Why is he being so mean? Does he mean me?" When the season is over, you can have your sweet little mermaid back but this is who I am now. So if you're easily offended, stay away from me. I will not be nor try to be nice.
