I have I couple of ideas that might be worth sharing-

- Completely redesign Disney Quest in Orlando to fit the Disney Springs Theme. You could either modernize the Disney Quest concept inside or demolish the building and do something else with it.

- Pull off a successful Guardians of the Galaxy TOT overlay. :p:oops::arghh::arghh:

- Finish the DCA makeover by redesigning Hollywood Land. The only trick is you have to use the Hollywood theme. No Marvel allowed! :p

- What if Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party was actually frightening? The task would be to take the Magic Kingdoms Halloween event and crank the scare factor up to 11!

- Design an E-ticket for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for Universal Studios Hollywood in the place of Dragon Challenge.

Thoughts?

I like your Disney Quest idea especially because it addresses a real need.

I don't think so either - I like the option to put it anywhere!

What does everyone think?

@spacemt354 These might be worth posting:

-Hotel between Contemporary and TTC that cannot be something Disney had planned to build, but ended up not doing it.

-New part of New Fantasyland (like if IASW was to be relocated to the speedway a New Fantasyland sub land could go in it's place. Ex. Frozen could go there with a new ride, but as it is in Epcot you would have to decide to use a go to movie or something else, and it doesn't have to be themed to just one thing.

-A new vehicle design that can use tech from other rides like trackless etc., but it has to be new and showcased in a non ip new Tomorrowland ride.

-A new continant land for AK (maybe cut a bit of Dinoland And put it between Dinoland and ee & and possibly a complete Dinoland overhaul as well. I just don't know if that's be feasible in 1 week).

-A new land for the HWS overhaul that can be themed to an ip, but at least one part of the land cannot be from the movie and you must create it from the universe. Ex Monsters Inc. you can use "Monsters Inc." but for other parts of the land it must be completly new.

-Creating a completly new park icon, the overall theme for the park, and what lands it would have. The only in detail thing would be the icon. (Just love that one).

-New hub for HWS.

-New pavilion for Epcot.

-New coaster for Epcot.

-Frontierland expansion

Opinions?

Love the icon idea (especially for HS) and the new vehicle idea (no slightly differently shaped clamshells! LOL)

I had a thought to turn back the clock to 2006, have Disney get the rights to Harry Potter, and design a land for DHS!

But also RMs idea is good too! I remember someone posted if they needed to know Universal HP lands for the comp, so we gotta try and make the challenges so that even people not familiar with it can have a good time and contribute!

Love, love, love-love-love. (I might like this idea.) Quantum Leaping back in time and correcting what went wrong with JK Rowling and getting HP into WDW, leaving Uni waiting for "Twister II: There Is No Kansas Anymore" to be made.

Here's my list of suggestions for now!
  1. Design a guest interactive Hot Dog/ice cream stand for the Animal Kingdom (@spacemt354 lol)
  2. Redesign a Dark Ride as a Coaster and a Coaster as a Dark Ride (For example, Peter Pan's flight as a coaster and Space Mountain as a dark ride)
  3. Add a new scene (script and all) to the Carousel of Progress
  4. Change the Monorail into an interactive attraction with a storyline, characters, and animatronics that plays out as guests go from park to park to resorts
  5. Design a new restaurant (no rules, just complete originality! Something simple like this to give contestants a lot of freedom to design something new!)

Faves #2 and #4.

My first idea for a challenge was to imagine if the Swan and Dolphin never existed, and you have to design a WDW Deluxe Resort to be placed in that area in the current day.

For teams (that will most likely be 6 people each at this point) I think a resort is a great way to give everyone on the team something to do, even if it's just a paragraph of description.

For a deluxe resort you could have all different sections

- Hotel Backstory/Lobby Descriptions for the people who love creative writing on the team
- Images of the hotel for people who like art
- Someone can take the resort's pool area and go crazy designing it
- for people who like creating menus - they can take the dining aspect
- Outdoor/recreation activities
- And if someone on the team is more busy that round, there are smaller paragraph areas that they could take on the project so everyone is still involved!

I have more, but I really want to hear what others think - the nighttime show was awesome!

@David2319 I know you had an idea in the announcement thread if you want to share it here!

@Tony the Tigger - I remember you said you had a challenge idea last night, if you want post it away!

And if anyone else has more feel free - thanks to everyone who has posted ideas so far they are awesome!:D

I'll keep track of all the ideas throughout the week and then as we get closer to the starting line I'll condense everything together and we can take a vote! Sound good?

OK I think I'm caught up on the thread LOL. Sorry, worked all day and into the night (as it will be for the next week.) :jawdrop:

My idea was somewhat similar to yours in that it involved hotel design. I'm going back and forth with how narrow or broad to do it, and I'm considering giving people a choice (because I can't make up my mind LOL.)

One would be to build a hotel (or redesign an existing one) to incorporate an actual attraction - not an E-ticket, more like an Epcot World Showcase level thing. People like the monorail through the monorail resorts because it's "like" a ride in the resort. So make a ride in the resort. It can be a boat ride, a tame coaster, a dark ride...but something that fits the theme of the hotel (or a new one) and enhances the resort without being disruptive. (It can also just be on the property of the resort.) But it should make that resort book up like Be Our Guest Restaurant books up.

The other would be to build a hotel with a specific purpose, not just a theme. So, to be transparent, I have an idea and I'm working backwards from that to create the challenge, which is what lead to this whole post. I like something that addresses a real need. I have a specific need in mind. So I'm not sure whether to specifically state that need and let each team interpret the solution as they see fit (which I think is very doable) or to just leave it completely open to whatever need you guys think would give a new hotel a purpose beyond a theme, something guests would appreciate, even something that keeps guests staying off-property right now. It could service a niche market, but be attractive enough to fill to capacity.

Of course, there's always the twofer: a new hotel with a purpose AND a ride LOL.

I also have no idea of what's been done before, other than Space's post earlier in this thread.

OK, lemme have it. :geek:

I LOVE the hotel with an attraction - that's so unique and can really be a good challenge for a team because you not only work on hotels (which is something different) but also on an attraction - which ties into it too!

I think it's brilliant - hopefully everyone else likes it too!

I agree that is a superb idea. Maybe the hotel could be in the park, but the hotel's guests get a Fastpass per person per room staying at the hotel for the attraction in the hotel. That make sense? Because a high capacity Eticket would not be worth the investment, but a smaller dark ride could, and would definitely attract people, so I think depending on the scale of the ride that could determine whether the hotel connects to a park or not. They could make a hotel in a mega castle, and the ride could be inside it and themed to the castle, but still could have outside access, and therefor could be a much higher quality attraction. Just a thought, but either way a traditional Fantasyland dark ride could work, or even a Maelstrom type ride just maybe a tiny bit smaller.

That could be something the challenge allows teams to create! So we can leave it open ended for things like this! I like it!

Hi everyone. So, I've never participated in these games before but feel honored to be asked =) Here some of my ideas:

-create a boat ride for AK similar to Discovery River boats but one that actually works. Enhanced AA's. Maybe something with a jungle cruise vibe
-create a Rare Character spot in each of the parks to meet lesser seen favorites
-add a new stop on the AK train to Rafiki's planet watch
-bring a ride to WDW from another Disney park- decide where it will go and what changes will be made to reflect our culture
-redo the Transportation and Ticket Center
-pretend DHS was still MGM and a working studio. How could the park have grown in that direction?
-overhaul a menu at a WDW favorite restaurant
-expand the monorail
-create a park opening show similar to MK's but for Epcot and/or AK

That's all I have for now. Are they awful? Been done before?

This is a game designed for people to try out the Imagineer forum! So glad you could make it, it's awesome to see new people in the community!

I really like the boat ride for AK on the Discovery River - that would get really cool!

Other one that sticks out to me is the park opening show! I've never seen that done on here ever! :geek::D

Keep em coming, these are great! What does everyone else think?

I think they're fantastic ideas, especially the boat ride for AK. Could serve as transportation, with stuff between the stops. If you want we could do like a 2 part round where we make a new land in AK & and add the boat ride to it the following week. Also the park opening show would be very cool. There could be like massive fountains as you cross the bridges from Oasis to Discovery Island. Could act like geysers or something. Very cool ideas, don't stop dreamin' them up! @Fox&Hound

Exactly! Maybe you could even have it so that each of the 4 teams designs a different park opening show! That way we get to see different interpretations!
