Actually they were discussing that last night on Bravo's 100 Scariest Moments of all Time. We see the girl throughout the film, however at the end she breaks the third wall. She does what none of us really expect or want to believe, but she still does it. That action of doing something what we have never seen before (which is a hidden terror of everybody), creeps into your sub-concious and haunts your nightmares.
Yeah, I saw that on Bravo. I was sort of getting creeped out all over again when the people were just talking about the scene with the well...and then they started showing that scene. I swear, I went into a frenzy trying to change the channel before I got any glimpse of that video.
You bring up some great points, Legacy, and I think you're dead on with them. So...was that the first movie in history where someone breaks the 'third wall' or has it been done before? (I rarely watch scary movies). If The Ring was the first, I'm kind of surprised no one's ever done it before. Regardless, it was a brilliant piece of horror...I mean, I can't imagine not being freaked out by that scene, no matter how many times I see it (which, so far, has only been once).
BTW, Alicia, it took me a good while to get used to being around tv's while they were off. I'd always have to turn them on while I was in the room because I would get so scared. I don't think I've ever been affected by a movie in that way before. It's crazy how much power that one scene has.
cru5h, I think you're right. I don't remember seeing the girl up close too much either. But I know just from the previews of The Grudge that you get at least one good closeup of the boy. From what little I've seen of the boy, he just doesn't seem to have the same sinister creepiness that the girl from The Ring had.
So...who's up for The Ring sequel?

I've heard the girl won't be coming back for the sequel, though, which is kind of a bummer...i guess.
