The Great, the good, the bad, and the ugly: A skipper's eye view of WDW

Well I just got hope from a month or so of gallivanting in WDW, and here are just some of my observations.

The Great
-The continued work on MK. The facades look terrific, and you can tell Management is starting to get their act together.

-Great Movie Ride cast. Bravo to everyone I experienced at GMR the past few weeks. Each show was terrific, including the best gangster and tour guide I've ever had.

-Streetmosphere performers. Nuff said, really.

-Splash Mountain. Every effect was up and running the few times I was on the ride.

-Overall maintenance. For the most part, everything was in working order.

-JC. Has received more and more TLC. Almost all the animated figures have returned, and we are only missing a few Indian Elephants.

The Good
-Counter Service. The overall lack of choices still bugs me, but the quality of my QS meals were much better than in recent years.

-Pixie Meet and Greet. Our current Pixie Hollow is fairly lame, but the Pixies were terrific, especially Tink.

-Illuminations. Everything in working order and timed correctly

-Fantasmic! While the cutbacks are ridiculous(more on that in "The Ugly"), the performers still give it their all and put on a great show.

-Kilimanjaro Safaris. Some of the best ones I've ever had.

-HoP. I liked the new show. I wasn't completely blown away, but it was nice.

The Bad
-Yeti still having major problems.

-Guest consideration. I know Disney has nothing to do with this, but guests were much ruder/inconsiderate this trip than I have ever seen them. There were half eaten meals left in queue lines, guests literally screaming at CMs, and just overall lack of decency.

-Tomorrowland. Honestly, it shows that Space, TTA, and Buzz are the only decent attractions in Tland, because the others were basically empty.

The Ugly
-Fantasmic! Cutbacks. Studios has a problem folks. A problem that I'm not really at liberty to talk about, but Fant! needs to be shown every night. People need to be drawn to the park, because it needs it. Bad.

-MK lines. The parks were not very crowded the past few weeks, but lines were still out of control. MK needs its addition...and soon.

-MILF. Honestly, I have never disliked MILF as a show. I've disliked it's placement, but I had enjoyed the attraction in the past. But oh boy, the two shows I saw these past few weeks were painful. There were literally people walking out during the show. Not even the kids were laughing, and the theater was half empty every showing. Something needs to be done, or that side of Tland will be a ghost town.

-CoP. It's in horrible shape. The theaters are very shabby looking, I think it's time for some TLC.

They just needed me to be the dancing guy.

I don't know who told you what, but they're telling it out their , Studios is doing just fine. Is the lack of Fantasmic shows a problem? Yes, got that right. But the problem is that the park has been MORE crowded than they anticipated on nights without Fantasmic, and the crowds have no where to go. Look no further than the hundreds of people sitting on the ground, with hundreds more standing around, and a thousand inside the American Idol theatre. Not to mention huge waits at every major ride during the usual dead time during Fantasmic.

I'm interested in who told you this. Because I was told the exact opposite. From someone who should know.

Well there's yer problem: Never trust just one person, they tend to exaggerate based on what they believe, I'm going by consensuses from many different people, factoring in bits and pieces of news and changes I hear about, adding in many many many many days of actual Field research. (*ahem* How many of my Updates have been Studios in this last year? :lookaroun )

Everyone hates no Fantasmic though. It just packs the attractions during usually peaceful hours...It messes up the crowd flow I've used for years to avoid the crowds at Studios...

Eh, I guess...I just honestly believe this person. They're fairly tied to the Studios.

I don't mean to discredit you or anything like that. I was just relaying what I've been told.

And just to add to my "The Bad" list. Luxo was 101 everytime I was at the Studios.

Fair enough. I'm just gonna' go with the more specific and day to day opinions and observations before a singular source. Like I said, I dare you to find a night this summer when Fantasmic isn't running and it's NOT packed. I'm agreeing there's a problem, just not a problem that's the fault of a lacking park, which Studios isn't.

And I know why Luxo isn't out and about, and...well let's just say it's not a complicated mechanical issue at all, but none the less he's gonna' be resting for at least a little while longer. To be fair, I warned everyone not to get their hopes up.

Oh, I don't think the Studios is a lacking park at all. I love the park. I'm just speaking for it's numbers, which I was told, were not very good.

Yea, I know. It was still very disappointing not to see him. He was honestly what I was looking forward to the most, park-wise.

That's odd!::dazzle: Why do they have him cooped up if he's working fine.

I was at WDW in May and Monsters wasn't that empty. It could have to do with the weather (rain) but it was cute. I still stick by my idea that they should use the Tomorrowland Terrace kitchen next door to turn it into a QS experience restuarant.

Kind of like how Diamond Horshoe used to be. You bought a sandwich or snack and sat down to watch the show while you ate.

TL needs another QS sitdown since the Terrace is hardly ever used for that purpose. All you have is Comsic Ray's (if that's the right name for the big QS sitdown near the Speedway) and that place gets really crowded at peak mealtimes. Having another sitdown QS (as opposed to like Launching Pad where you mostly are standing) would help that out.
