The Great Movie Ride question.

I haven't seen the cowboy one for so long i can not even remember what happens in it lol

It's a robbery of some sort (bank maybe). The CM comes out of saloon doors to be attacked by the good guys on the other side. You are in the middle of the shoot out. Then a fire, pretty well done.

On our way to DHS on Friday, I was complaining to my DF about how in the 20+ times we've been on the GMR, we've never had the Western scene. Well, guess what happened haha. I didn't know there'd be fire!

The only down side, was we were way back in the last row and the two CMs seemed a little tired.

It was still awesome to finally experience it, though.

Most of the JC captains we have had recently seem to have either Debbie Downer Syndrome or a mouth full of marbles and rushed delivery of lines. I liked it so much better when they gave captains a little more freedom to ad lib.
We had a really good JC captain in August, tried her best to get everyone involved but some people are just hard work, I was laughing the whole time.

The CMs make this ride. If you get a lazy one or an introvert it sucks.
They do no doubt, but am I the only one that just doesn't buy the female gangster? I'm not sexist please don't attack me for saying that, but I really just think a male is much more believable.

I think so, too, although once upon a time, we got a female gangster who had a deep, booming voice with an authentic Jersey accent. She was very believable!

The only problem with this ride is it is so hard to update...it would be nice to have new movies but the attraction is supposed to take you to classic movies and it is hard to tell if a movie is classic until well after it's popularity has passed the only movie that I can't believe isn't in the ride is Star Wars being that it is a classic and is still unbelievably popular but I guess soon there will be plenty of places to get your Saw fix in DHS :) fingers crossed anyway...I love great movie ride just wish that there were more live action with the CMs have them interact even more with new scenes (the animatronics are so bad in GMR other than the wicked witch)

Obviously I'm late to the info party on this one. Are there plans to do away with the attraction or change it up?
Early rumors have it that this is where a new area, be it Carsland or something connected with Star Wars might go. Let's face it, when the backlot tour opened it was colossal. It contained so many things. The sound stages, the walk through sets, the blue screen area, the tank (still there) the trip through the costuming area, (still there), the residential street, the Canyon (still there). Notice how little is still there. It is a huge waste of space. It is a high cost ride to no place and needs to be retired and replaced with something useful. If you followed my posts at all you will remember that I am usually totally against removing anything to put in an extra, especially in WDW, but, the Backlot Tour died a long time ago. It was dismembered and now needs to be put to rest. They are scheduling a refurb shortly. What are they going to do with it? Rearrange some rocks along the edge or add some more rusty pieces of steal to the graveyard. They are going to close it for refurb and, like 20K, I would be totally surprised if it ever sees the light of day again.

Thanks for the response. The backlot tour is a complete waste of space to me as well. I used to like it a lot when I was younger. I also liked it when the Osbourne Lights were incorporated on the residential street back in the day. Anymore its by far my least favorite ride in all of Disney World

If people thought Alien Encounter was too scary, I'm not sure about the decision to have more Saw related movie activities scattered around the park. :lookaroun

but it would fit nicely in the Wonders of Life building... just stay clear of the Meet & Greets.
