Studio execs wanted to thank those of you who submitted a film proposal this week. Don't call us, we'll call you. I was really hoping to see a Bore and The Incredible Bulk buddy film but in all seriousness those were lots of fun. Enjoyed reading each of your entries.

It's funny with superheroes, for every mainstream cool hero/name there are 10 random ones you think can't be real.
After much deliberation, execs have decided to greenlight @D Hindley Great Lakes Avengers. Picturing anything super about Milwaukee is funny in its own right, loved the real/spoof/real aspect of it and of course, the cameos.

With those entries there will be 5 points for each of you to go towards your studios tally and then an extra 10 for Pixar for getting one of their films green lit this week. Looking forward to next week's pitches!

In Scene 1: Act a Fool, each of your studio teams will be creating our own Planet Spaceball, but on a much smaller scale. We will be picking one IP and creating a mini, 2 attraction land for the IP you choose. We are not looking for a sprawled out 11 acre land like Toy Story Land, but something on a smaller scale that won't overwhelm a theme park.....

--Act I--

Introduction

Wakanda is located in equatorial Africa and in the MCU Planet Earth. It is what explorers used to think was 'El Dorado'. Wakanda is a very secretive and hidden country. It is also very advanced in their technology and innovation when compared to the rest of the countries on Earth. While it is a technological country, it also has vastly large areas of forests and jungles. It has absolutely stunning views and beautiful flora and fauna. While the flora and fauna are beautiful, Wakanda’s main claim to fame is the large pool of Vibranium, a rare Earth metal, that they have. It is important to the MCU as it is what Captain America’s Shield is made out of and also what Ultron was made of.

Based off of the prompt we felt Wakanda was a good idea for many reasons. The first being that we knew we had to be careful with what we put in Hollywood Studios as Universal Studios still has the contract deal. Due to this, there were some limitations on what we could build. That means we had to focus on some of the newer superheroes in the MCU. We felt that focusing on the Black Panther was the best option out of them all. With those large forests, the new, updated technology, the unique buildings, there are endless possibilities to it. With the Jungle design, we can add them further back to almost make a façade making the land seem larger than it is. Using the trees to our advantage, we expect that this land would be 6-8 acres but could feel as big, if not bigger than Toy Story Land which is 11 acres.

Backstory
Due to the aftermath events of Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War - the MCU 'earth' as radically changed for good. The whole world is aware that aliens from far away planets and galaxies exist, that we are not the only species in the universe, and that we need to stand together on earth in order to defeat enemies domestically and around the multi-verse.

With this, the Wakandan government, led by T'Challa, has overruled their stance on secrecy and isolationism in this new world. The once protected whereabouts of Wakanda will be opened to the planet of earth, allowing the planet as a whole to share in the wealth of technological advancements needed to sustain a suitable defense for future adversaries. Yet while there is an ominous reason for the Wakanda to be known to the people of earth, there is also an incredible opportunity for edutainment and offerings that were not available before.

The afro-futurism of Wakanda has become a hot spot for not only the world's top scientists and inventors, but also a tourist capital of the planet. Millions of people travel to Wakanda in order to walk its technologically advanced streets, explore their jungles and caves, from the ground, and the air.

Wakanda will be inserted into the south side of Disney's Hollywood Studios; an area currently preoccupied by Star Tours, the Backlot Express, and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular backstage venues. After the 50th anniversary and opening of Star Wars Land as well as the Indiana Jones attraction in 2021, Star Tours experienced a decline in attendance and there was no need for cast backstage areas for an Indy Stunt Show.

Wakanda is approximately 7 acres and encompasses all of the Backlot Express, Star Tours, and the backstage areas. Backstage roads were maneuvered around the show buildings for both attractions in Wakanda.

1 - Journey to the Vibranium Mine
3_-_uCDBEBK.jpg

Queue

As you meander pass the Indiana Jones attraction, a pathway catches your eye. A glowing sign with neon that seems to sparkle sits to the left of the path. You follow it, and you find yourself in a lush forest that soon breaks away to reveal the outskirts of a prosperous city. A building in front of you that seems to lead into the earth reads “Wakandan Mine”. It looks abandoned. Intrigued, you enter, and walk down steps that lead you deeper and deeper into the earth. This tunnel is relatively cramped at first, and the walls are made of stone held by wood beams. Eventually, the queue opens up into a larger room that feels more and more technological, akin to Navi River Journey. The queue wraps around the room in rows, and in between rows are dusty glass cases showcasing some of the enormous gems found in the mines, like diamonds. As you progress further, the cases show weapons and shields created with vibranium, the country’s most valuable export. Eventually the now expansive tunnel is covered in silver and white panels that glow with technicolor circuitry. The queue turns left, and you face an enormous waterfall, in stark contrast to the slick background. Cracks from the worn panels, revealing stone underneath, can be seen at the top of the waterfall. As your gaze falls from the waterfall, you notice that a river is behind it. You begin to notice rafts, like the ones on Kali River Rapids, are floating through the river. Again, the queue circles around, and this time, you can see the loading dock.

Attraction Ride-Through
After you board, the boat rocks and takes you through a dark passageway. You can feel the boat going up a hill. A voiceover can be heard:

“For centuries, we have remained isolated from the world, but now we open our doors to you. Welcome to Wakanda.”
latest

The tunnel ends, and you are now outside. You are on the outskirts of Wakanda, and billowing skyscrapers can be seen in the distance. The boat then turns right and goes down a thrilling hill that is parallel to the tunnel. Again, you are in a dark tunnel, except this time, the walls shimmer and sparkle with gems. It is a cool room and mist is ubiquitous.

“Our most prized possession: vibranium. Mysterious as it is beautiful, it is the lifeblood of our country. As much as we try to protect it, there are others who do not see it for what it truly is: a gift from the unknown.”

An AA of a raider can be seen trying to use a chisel to break a chunk of vibranium free from the wall. Another AA is behind him, facing the boat. He points a blaster at the crowd.

“You didn’t see anything.”

The boat stops at a barrier and turns around to face the scene. A Black Panther AA comes out of a crevice in the wall.
BLAP_post_master-3-960x540.jpg

“It would be wise to return that to its rightful place.”

Instead of obeying, the one AA shoots a blaster at the boat, causing it to fall straight down (similar to the Verbolten attraction at Bushe Gardens Williamsburg.) Deeper in the mine now, and the structure now compromised, the raft starts to shake as a gust of water pushes them forward rapidly, passing the scene you can see in the queue. After the turn in the queue, there is another small drop and then a series of sharp turns. You can hear footsteps and breathing of the Black Panther and the thieves as you sweep through the dark mines.

The boat slowly loses momentum and starts to drift. The thieves pant. The room is really shaking now.

“Did we lose him?”

“Lose who?” the Black Panther’s voice booms. There is a large smash, and a burst of light comes from above. A Black Panther AA is holding a large piece of stone/ceiling, sets it on the ground.

“You have made your bed, and now you must lie in it,” BP says. The AA moves towards the boat but disappears in darkness. You hear footsteps in the water and then the boat starts to rise towards the crevice in the ceiling. You feel yourself being thrust into the air and back on ground level again. A BP AA is there, and you can hear the mine collapse beneath you.

“Hope you enjoyed the tour,” he says. The boat heads back to the loading dock.

2 - Warrior Falls Excursions

Location
Warrior Falls Excursions will replace 'Star Tours' - after the opening of Star Wars Land in 2019 at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Themed after a flight simulator, the exterior and interior of the attraction will be refurbished and renovated to fit the thematic considerations of a Wakandan jungle terrain, as you approach the technologically advanced structure within the forest that houses the flight vehicles for the Wakandan tours.

Queue
blackpanther-conceptart1.jpg

Walking through the dense forestation, you wind through intricatly designed hedges stacked on top of each other to completely enclose the guests from the outside environment of Disney's Hollywood Studios. You feel completely immersed in the world of Wakanda as you continue to trek further into the jungle. Guests pass by various signs and signatures from the Black Panther comics and film such as directions to the Woods of Solitude and Paradise Forest.

Replacing the AT-AT in front of the queue, and a large artifact that you walk around before entering into the flight wing, is an intimidating Panther statue, glaring over the guests, with greenery and waterfalls flanking it on both sides, adding a much needed sense of foliage and water to Disney's Hollywood Studios - a park known for being a 'concrete jungle'.

Inside the facility housing the tours, guests note the astonishingly futuristic designs of the Wakandan citizens. Guests have entered a multipurpose facility, with three layers, each designed for a different means of transportation. The first wing guests walk through is an emergency medical bay as seen in Captain America Civil War - intended for high risk patients if they need transport into or out of Wakanda quickly for security measures. Several oxygen tanks containing people from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Bucky Barnes placed in an induced coma. On the wall are several video monitors and checkpoints displayed on a large screen, with the medical bay information throughout.

As you walk further, you enter into the entirely robotic transportation hub of the facility. The purpose of this wing is the accumulation of vibranium needed to be exported out of Wakanda and to other governments for their specific needs.

The final bay in the multi-purpose facility is the Wakandan tours - where you watch a 5 minute video explaining the security procedures and safety precautions for the flight. You will be flying in custom Wakandan quin-jets designed by King T'Challa himself, to hopefully offer the most comfortable and entertaining experience for the tourists of this great nation.

Duration: 4 min 15 seconds
Height Restriction: Yes (40 inches)
Wheelchair Accessibility: Yes
FastPass+: Yes
Theoretical Hourly Capacity: 1,800
Operational Hourly Capacity: 1,650

Attraction Ride-Through
The attraction begins as the guests put on their 3D glasses and the screen opens up to reveal a launch bay with a jungle surrounding in front of it. Flight attendant crews announce the launch and the tour-jet takes off and you feel the force of the launch propel you backwards in your seat, before a feeling of floating sensation as the high mountain peaks crest underneath the jet.

The quin-jet makes a sharp right turn at a 45 degree angle and soars down towards Warrior Falls, where many of the local inhabitants are participating in a chant with powerful drum beats emanating through the canyon hillsides.

The flight continues on before dark clouds encapsulate your vehicle in a lightning storm and you hear a thunderous growl of a panther in the distance, as lightning flashes shaking the cabin inside the quin jet. Suddenly, gunfire can be heard and seen all around your flight, as invading ships attempt to board your quin-jet. The self-defense mechanism of the ship takes into effect as your quin-jet begins firing back and proceeding to evasive maneuvers, which includes a large drop into the falls and a 720 spin out of fire, now facing the invading ships head on.

In the distance, you see Wakanda, lit up in vibrant light blue colors in the darkness of the storm, looming on the horizon. Your quin-jet launches towards the city as you head for the Central Wakanda Palace to safety. You feel the strong force propel you back into the seat, yet experience turbulence, when a Hydra jet smashes into the side of your vehicle - claiming that you hold the Winter Soldier.

Your pilot android alerts the King of Wakanda, T'Challa, and you are informed to head to Primitive Peaks and lose them in the valley, awaiting savior from the Black Panther Cult.
black-panther-snow.png

A 180 spin and you head over the Serpent Valley, soaring through and around the trees, as a 3D snake almost pierces your windshield. You sail over the River of Grace and Wisdom as water splashes up to the screen and you can smell the tranquil waters below.

Continuing on T'Challa's you arrive at Primitive Peaks with Hydra still hot on your tail, The android pilot once again engages in evasive maneuvers in an attempt to shake the incoming fire. After sailing around the peaks, the Dora Milaje charges out in quin-jets of their own and begins to fire at the Hydra agents, saving you in the process. One of the bullets however from Hydra vessels is able to hit your back engine, causing you to crash land inside the Primitive Peaks.
537ba26276348.jpg

Surrounded in darkness, you can only hear the faint gunfire outside, and the gravel inside the mountain still shaking upon your crash landing. A faint light can be seen in the distance, as Erik Killmonger, an infamous supervillain the Black Panther comics, arises from the darkness, and attempts to board your vehicle with surrounding agents. A prowl is heard as loud as can be, and leaping over the screen in front of you is the Black Panther himself, and an epic 3D hand to hand combat ensues in front of you. Using the spirit of the Panther, Black Panther flips back on top of your vessel and launches you out of the Primitive Peaks and back towards the launch bay. With one final blast of speed, you propel back towards the tour bay and to safety.

While your experience was a treacherous one, throughout the enduring adventure, guests are able to take in the beauty and charm of the Wakanda landscape.

On the outskirts of Wakanda is a small marketplace where riders exit from on the Warrior Falls Excursions attraction. The design of the marketplace is seen in the concept art above. The current location of this marketplace is Tatooine Traders, which offers a similar design to the structures seen in Wakanda. The refurbishment to Star Tours will add new Wakanda languages to the signage and add glass panels around the building to fit the Wakanda design.
tatooine-traders-00.jpg

Inside the marketplace is a shop selling Black Panther film merchandise as well as Marvel gear for all ages.

5 - Wakanda Trail
This will be a walk-through similar to Cretaceous Trail or any of the Pandora trails using interactive elements. Guests can enter the walking trail on the left side of the mini-land as soon as it comes into view.

The trail wraps around a waterfall and the tranquil rivers of the jungle terrain. You can hear exotic animals around you, the flowing of water, and the prowl of a panther in the distance. Inside you walk into a Panther temple with glow in the dark visuals around you that gives you a sense that you are in an ancient mystic center. Chanting can be heard in the distance and you can tap your magic band onto the walls to learn about Wakanda's past. A booming voice tells you about the trials and tribulations of being King of Wakanda, and the burden it bears. Continuing on throughout the cave, are jumping fountains and glistening glows of the cave walls. Through a series of switchbacks, the walking trail dumps out in front of the entrance to the Journey to the Vibranium Mine attraction.

Wakanda Trail be the first walking trail in Disney's Hollywood Studios adding much needed variety to the park.

--Roll Credits--

Mid-Credits Scene
Future Expansion
If the Wakanda Trail becomes popular, audio-animatronics will be added to the walking trails with different sorts of animal encounters (Like the Triceratops Encounter they used to have at Universal Studios Florida or the Raptor Encounter they have now. They are fairly realistic and can make great and fun family or solo photos)

28CREDIT-BLOAT-facebookJumbo.jpg

End-Credits Scene
Future Expansion
If Warrior Falls Excursions is successful and guests enjoy it, to add in more variety and areas to explore within Wakanda, different story-lines throughout the attraction will be added to support the sequel plots, similar to Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.

And with those simple words you have just ventured into The Goblin Kingdom

The Goblin Kingdom Revue

Queue

A series of rope bridges wind their way across the swamp. Several interactive areas include a series of rocks that kids can hop across, landing on each rock produces a rather (ahem) distinctive sound. The bridges cross directly into what appears to be a large hollowed out rock floating in the bog.

Inside the lobby, which actually feels like it's floating on the water through mechanical and sound effects, guests are greeted by The Worm, who has taken up residence in the rafters.

The Worm : "'Ello! Come to meet the missus? Oh, no probably not are you? You're 'ere for the show. Won't be long now. Didymus should have them ready soon."

A roar from inside the theater, suggesting a large creature, startles the worm, who disappears into the beams of the rafters, and quickly reappears elsewhere closer to the doors.

The Worm : "Oy, sounds like Ludo's not too 'appy. Why they brought 'im onto this floating rock I'll never understand, anyway, things should be ready, just head that way,"

He gestures to the doors which open to admit the guests, whom he encourages to keep going "That way". The theater itself is carved directly into the rock, one large proscenium arch, flanked by four smaller boxes on either side. The Curtains are a dark mossy green, suggesting they grew right where they hang.

At the start of the show we hear another loud roar, followed by the pleas of Sir Didymus. Ludo apparently wants to join in, but Didymus tries to tell him that it would make the rock sink. Didymus comes flying through the curtain and lands sprawled on the stage, he quickly springs up and greets the audience, before turning to lecture Ludo who appears in the stage right box. He tells Ludo to sit still and watch the show. Before the show begins however, they would like to offer some wisdom, and no one is better to offer it then the Wise Man. The curtain opens to reveal the doddering old Wise Man.

The Wise Man attempts to offer some wise words, but he struggles to remember it, or stay awake, or keeps getting interrupted by his sharp tongued hat, which he keeps telling to shut up, the hat won't have it, and a screen descends on them bickering. Next up are the Helping Hands, projected on the screen, performing a surreal but chipper little pun filled ditty about their job in "Lending a Hand"

Ludo seems to have enjoyed the song and is laughing and clapping along with the audience before being silenced by Didymus, who then introduces the four guards. The guards appear in two of the boxes, and attempt to perform "Who's Lying?" a variation of "Who's On First" except they keep getting confused and have to confer with each other. Didymus loses his patience and throws a switch, causing a trapdoor to drop out from under them.

Next up is the Fireyes, who perform an acrobatic juggling act with their hands, heads and and various other body parts. While looking for more parts to juggle, they turn to Didymus, who wildly starts to defend himself, knocking off their heads, and sending them running off to retrieve them.

Deciding it would be best to end things while everyone is still alive, Didymus introduces the Troll Squad, who perform a rousing rendition of "Magic Dance," so rousing in fact, that Ludo can't help up and join the dance, unfortunately his weight causes the floating theater to rock and bob in the water wildly, interrupting the song. Didymus and the trolls attempt to stop him, but his dancing only gets wilder until...

CRRUUNNCCHH!!

The stage breaks loose from the rest of the theater, rocking and rolling this way and that. Didymus calls for the curtain to close, and urges the audience to escape out the exit. As the audience leaves, they can still hear Ludo wild laughter as he dances and the rest of the cast attempting to stop him, but judging by the continued rocking of the stage, it's not working. Guests soon exit back into the bog within view of the Bog of Eternal Stench River Tours.

Ride Experience -

As guests disembark from the old boathouse, and into the bog they pass by an old rotting tree. Perched on the branch of the tree is a barn owl who occasionally whos and move its heads. Floating along the bog guests will pass by various spurts of water which shoot out water followed by a rather refined sound known as farting. As the spurts shoot out the water occasionally the smell that gave the Bog of Eternal Stench its name. The boats will continue to float by, and pass under a bridge used in the queue for the nearby show harboured within the bog.

As the boats turn a bend behind the entrance of the show, guests enter the Cave of Peculiarities. Within Ludo sits on the cave floor howling. As he howls various rocks push out of the water, and various fountains shoot out as the rocks push out of the water. The rocks continuously go up and down. Another thing of note is that fact the rocks actually change color as they sink and rise. The boats soon reach the end of the cave in which piles of bones are lying around with a group of fairies flying around attempting to get the guests to stay for supper.

The boats leave the Cave of Peculiarities, and guests find themselves back at the docks. With that guests depart from there journey around the bog.

Hoggle -
Hoggle roams throughout the Goblin Kingdom, and will range in height from 4'5 to to 4'8. He will not be your traditional fur character as he will be able to blink, and talk in real time to guests without any prerecorded phrases similar to what has been done with PUSH. A voice manipulator will be implemented so anyone could play him. He will go around the land warning people of the dangers of this land, and occasionally he will stop and talk to guests about possibly being his friend.

Ludo -
Ludo roams throughout the Goblin Kingdom, and ranges in height from 6'0 to 6'5. Ludo will be a typical fur character. Ludo will go around, and occasionally stop to look at odd things for an extended time throughout the miniland.

Affald -
Affald roams throughout the Junk Fields, and is the son of the Junk Lady. He will work similar to Bobbajo from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in which the trash he is carrying is where the person controlling Affad hides, and is able to pull and press triggers to manipulate his face, and when the character speaks as well. Affald will travel, and as he does he offers to trade with guests various knickknacks he has collected. In return guests will trade their own knickknacks such as pins, buttons, droid pieces, etc.

Wiseman -
Wiseman roams throughout the Goblin City, and is unique as it requires two different people. One person gets into the Wiseman, and provides is movement and voice. The second person hides, and operates the speaking hat upon the Wiseman. The Wiseman will go about spouting theme park advice, but the hat will constantly interrupt causing a rather humorous exchange between the two whenever that happens. Guests may also choose to talk to them in which the other will try to get the guest's attention allowing for an endless about of humor.

The Sleeping Goblin
A Quick-Service Restaurant

Near the first door of Goblin City is a small quick service offering called The Sleeping Goblin, named after the guardian of the city himself. Inside the Quick-Service restaurant will serve the famous Goblin Noodle Soup ($7.99), which comes in a hearty bowl including mushrooms, kale, beans, and vegetables.

The Humongous Burger ($9.99) is named after the guardian of the second door to Goblin City, and is a double cheeseburger with the works; onions, peppers, mustard, ketchup, relish, tomato, and lettuce.

For dessert, the Labyrinth ($20.00) is a large bowl of seven different ice cream flavors; vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, lime, cookie dough, and lemon, with the guest choice of 30 different toppings. It serves 4 guests per order.

Sarah's Room

Guest can find Sarah's bedroom a small gift shop inspired by the location in the film in the junk fields. Guests will find plush version of creatures from the film, strange hats and wigs and electronic puppets of creatures from Labyrinth.

Pixar Studios Proudly presents:
Pixar Plaza

Themed to some of Pixar's most touching and critically acclaimed work, Pixar Plaza is dedicated to the many Pixar Shorts that can be found before the main features. Taking inspiration from the Village in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Pixar Plaza is an intimate mini-land that much like the shorts themselves, pack a lot of spirit and heart into such a small package.

full

Similar to other mini lands, Pixar Plaza has many entrances and exits, but all lead to the heart of the land, the fountain piazza. Clever eyed guests will immediately notice that the piazza area is recreated from the short, One Man Band.
one+man+band%255B1%255D.jpg

The tall fountain rests in the center of the piazza surrounded by the Italian themed mosaic laid into the ground. Resting at the top of the fountain are two gold coins just waiting for two enterprising musicians to claim them. Although this detail is unseen by guests, it is just another example of Disney going the extra mile in details.
434415181_1280x720.jpg

Since this is the main hub of activity, this is prime viewing area for the nighttime show, Between Night and Day and the multi showing of Dueling One Man Bands. Surrounding the piazza are a series of quaint shops that branch off into eating areas and the two star attractions of Pixar Plaza.

"La Luna"
The adorable short film “La Luna” provides the inspiration for Pixar Plaza’s premier water dark ride. Glide peacefully across a moonlit sea and explore the Moon itself in this enchanting Magical-Realist fable.

The façade for La Luna is a quaint Old World fishing hut, much like those found in the Italian seaport of Genoa. Here several generations of fishermen make their home. Guests queue inside, passing through a humble living room and kitchen whose furniture is made of repurposed fishing equipment. A savory stew bubbles on the stove. Traditional Italian music plays on a Victrola. Framed photographs depict the family: Crotchety grandpa Nonno, surly father Papa, and innocent son Bambino.

full

Guests reach Bambino’s bedroom, full of imaginative childlike drawings of the moon. Bambino dozes in his bed (animatronic), lit by the radiant full moon seen outside a window. Bambino dreams. Guests hear faint ocean waves. They move through the bedroom, whose clothing racks and tables slowly transition to bound sails and fishing boats along the Italian coast. Imagine “Where the Wild Things Are,” when Max’s bedroom transforms into a jungle. Still the dreamlike beach retains subtle bedroom echoes, like pillows and sheets in a rowboat. Guests can smell the sea’s salty air. They glimpse AA pipers upon ocean rocks (a nod to Pixar’s “Piper”).

From a thatch-roofed pier, guests board trackless dark ride boat-beds which glide out into the nighttime air upon a watery surface. “La Luna” utilizes the same LPS trackless technology as Hunny Hunt or Mystic Manor, but all set atop a shallow water floor much like DisneySea’s Aquatopia. Incredibly gentle motion bases allow the boat-beds to sway like upon a current. Onboard speakers play Michael Giacchino’s tranquil score. Four boat-beds, each seating four guests, proceed at once on a nocturnal voyage.

full

Boats first sail out past stucco Genoan homes lining the coast. Windows (screens) open up, and the townsfolk within wave farewell to guests. Boats, which glide semi-randomly using the trackless technology, move past buoys and a breakwater into open ocean.

Star reflections glisten upon the seemingly endless ocean surface. The boats pause facing a rowboat, “La Luna,” manned by Nonno, Papa and Bambino (all animatronics). With trackless boats, guests can witness a reassuring familial scene in full. Bambino unwraps a present, discovering a cap much like his father’s and grandfather’s. Bambino dons the cap. Nonno tries to pull it back on his head, and Papa tries to push it forward. Each debates comically in pidgin Italian. A sudden glorious light interrupts this scene.

Boats spin to witness a spectacular moonrise on the ocean horizon! The full Moon dominates this room, a wall projection two dozen feet high. A silhouette of Nonno’s rowboat creeps into the corner. Still in silhouette, a stepladder rises up, and Bambino climbs.

full

Boats dance merrily past authentic water spigots transitioning into a star-field room. The walls and even the watery floor seemingly vanish, replaced by infinite twinkling fiberoptic lights. Amongst them, an animatronic Bambino climbs his ladder with an anchor.

The star-field fades, and boats finds themselves gliding down canals on the surface of the Moon! This is soothing, dreamlike. Horizons curve, suggesting a globe no bigger than a house. It’s like an Italian version of “The Little Prince.” The lunar surface glows warmly with countless physical stars, all lit from within. Bambino steps around these cute, hand-sized stars as he hooks the anchor into a crater.

Boats follow a projection of a shooting star, transitioning scene. They discover Nonno and Papa floating down to the Moon’s surface from their ladder above. Up on the ceiling, now upside-down, is their rowboat on the ocean – a spectacular practical effect where real water seems to be genuinely floating overhead on a curved Earth! The animatronic Papa heads to a tiny outhouse and pulls out a wheeled trashcan full of tools.

full

Suddenly the stars littering the ground all shake. So do the boats’ motion bases. Boats turn to learn of what happened. A massive single star, 15-feet high, has impaled the side of the Moon. While Nonno and Papa stand in bewilderment, young Bambino climbs to the peak of this enormous glowing star. He breaks it with a hammer. Cracks project across the star’s surface. The huge star becomes a hundred smaller stars. Bright twinkling lights mask the transition to the climactic showstopper scene.

full

Dozens and dozens of smaller stars all float serenely in the air. A dozen trackless boats dance together on an expansive lagoon surface under these beautiful sailing stars. Giacchino’s gentle guitar soundtrack sends boats spinning and gliding. Boats interact with a great number of fun water gags: Lunar rocks squirt water arcing over guests’ heads. Boats circle around a glowing whirlpool in the “floor.” Boats in turn near a physical waterfall embedded in the Moon’s terrain; physical stars tumble down the waterfall (and are collected by an unseen funnel to be recirculated back up the falls). Fountains dance within the craters. Water spigots balance stars in midair.

Throughout, animatronic set pieces depict Bambino, Papa and Nonno as they harvest the Moon’s stars. Papa uses a push broom which resembles his bristled mustache. Nonno’s besom broom looks just like his beard. They have another comical argument. Bambino, practically buried under a pile of stars, uses a rake.

full

Boats reverse through another star-field room, pulling back from the Moon…which comes into full view again projected against a wall. Three generations have swept the stars all to one side. The Moon is now a crescent! A small silhouette shows Nonno, Papa and Bambino rowing home from this heartwarming scene.

Boats return to the dock of dreams. Exit hallways slowly transition guests out of Bambino’s dream and back to the playful world of Pixar Plaza.

Pixar Magic featuring Presto!

Facade

As guests approach the show building, they see an old time theater entrance out front, with multiple posters for various "spoof" acts (Woody & Buzz Comedy Tour, Sounds of the Ocean with Nemo, Mater's Very Serious One Man Show). The marque lettering and billboard at the center of the entrance will introduce Presto and prominently display the poster for "Presto Digiotagione & His Hat of Wonder".

454full-presto-poster.jpg

Queue / Waiting Area

sellersville-theater-lobby.jpg

As guests enter the show building they wait in a large gathering area themed as an old-time theater lobby. A full concession stand and arcade can be seen and walked through, but none of the cabinets work and no one is manning the concessions. Through various "employee" notes and hidden carvings around the lobby, guests can piece together that it seems there is some kind of rodent problem. The concession food seems to go missing, and the arcade cabinets wires are always getting chewed through. Although the theater is historic and still working, the lobby area has been deemed unfit for food.

TV screens also line the ceilings and walls of the lobby, displaying short videos explaining the history of magic and illusion with sound bytes from a few famous magicians like David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, and David Blaine. These videos are interspersed with short clips of Presto performing various magic acts to whet the guest's appetites and give them a feel of what to expect.

Preshow

3_half-res.jpg

The doors in the Waiting Area will open after a brief warning, and guests will file in to the preshow area. This is a smaller area themed to the backstage of a theater. There are two identical preshow areas that guests will file in to to make this part of the attraction a little more intimate. Up on a large desk against a back wall guests will see an animatronic Alec the bunny in his cage with a rumbly tummy. On the wall behind the desk are a number of posters displaying Presto's various acts, newspaper headlines about Alec the bunny, and some worn posters with some easter eggs (i.e. BnL poster, Pizza Planet poster). Once the guests have settled the doors will close and the preshow will begin.

Alec the bunny will move around his cage continually staring at a carrot that is resting next to him on the desk. He will jump around trying to knock the cage around, he will try to reach his hands through the cage, and he will squawk and yell at carrot trying to get it to move closer to him. During all of this, on occasion, a loud noise or a light can be heard/seen which indicates that the theater stage is getting ready for the next performance.

After a couple minutes of this, a drawer in the desk magically slides open and within are the two magic hats. Lighting makes it looks as if the hats are sparkling, and Alec looks to be mesmerized by the hats. Both hats rise from the drawer magically, and a handkerchief rises from the desk, goes into one hat, and appears out of the other hat. Then the handkerchief reverses course, goes back into and out of the hats, and comes to rest back on the desk. The hats then float back down into the drawer.

Nearing the end of the preshow, a loud sound will be heard and the lights will go out. When the lights come back on, Alec is no longer in his cage! As the guests look around for him, he slowly appears dropping down a rope from the ceiling (with spoof mission impossible music). During his slow decent you can see him looking greedily at the carrot, swinging back and forth, making hungry sounds, and waving his hands around. When he gets 6 inches from the carrot the rope suddenly stops, and you can hear Presto yelling from above. Then the rope (and Alec!) get pulled up to the ceiling very quickly and a crash can be heard. The backstage lights fade, and the doors open to enter the theater.

Main Show

presto_head.jpg

The main theater is set up to look like a Broadway theater, but in a much much smaller scale. There are a few props on stage with a red curtain as a backdrop. In the middle of the curtain there is a strange looking square, which is actually a video screen. While guests are walking in this screen just has an image of the curtain on it so that it blends in.

Once the guests are seated and the lights dim, Presto is introduced and he walks out onto the stage (a live actor). As he bows to the audience, you can see Alec the bunny slide into view on the screen and wave (and he is wearing one of the magic hats). When the audience reacts, Presto looks behind him, but Alec ducks out of frame just in time.

Presto turns back around to the audience and magically produces a top hat in his hands. At the same time you can see Alec appear back on screen. Presto proceeds to insert his hand into the hat, but can't seem to find anything. Guests will notice in the video screen that Alec has removed the hat and is just holding it out in the air, with Presto's hand flailing about wildly. Presto removes his hand, looks at the hat, apologizes to the audience, then attempts to put his hand in the hat again.

What follows is a large number of possible slap-stick scenarios that cross comedy with magic. Guests are able to watch both Presto and Alec (on the screen) during these scenarios. Every performance will be different as the scenarios that follow are picked from and shown in different orders, and not all of them are shown every show.
- Alec primes a mousetrap and Presto yelps when he pulls his hand out of the hat with the trap caught on his fingers
- Alec fills a water-gun and shoots his hat, hitting Presto in the face before Presto accidentally aims his hat at the audience, getting some of them wet
- Alec puts his hand inside the hat, and pulls Presto's shirt off and back through the hat
- Presto taunts Alec with a carrot, you see Alec's ears appear in Presto's hat, but when Presto grabs the ears and pulls them up they end up just being rabbit ears attached to a Mickey Ears hat
- Presto runs to the side of the stage to find Alec, but just as he reaches the side of the stage Alec pushes a huge ladder through the hat and Presto gets pushed across to the other side of the stage by the ladder
- Alec appears dressed in a cartoon military outfit and has a flamethrower. He shoots it through the hat and Presto just misses getting hit by a big fire ball that comes out of the hat
- Alec drops a smoke bomb into the hat. It pops out on Presto's side and goes off, and the theater floods with mist/smoke
- Presto puts the hat on the ground and walks away, and Alec appears in the hat. When Presto runs full speed at the hat, Alec disappears into the hat, throws banana peels at Presto, and Presto slips and falls
- Presto puts his hand into the hat, and Alec positions the hat in such a way as to stick Presto's hand into a light socket. This shocks Presto and flashes the lights a bunch in the theater

Finally, you see Presto run off the stage, and on Alec's screen you see him run up into the rafters, with Presto following him. Just as Presto is about to catch Alec, Presto slips and falls off the rafters. You see Alec throw a rope towards Presto, and back on the live stage you Presto appear from the top of the stage/curtain, hanging upside down, but safe. Then he snaps his fingers, gets pulled up real fast, and as soon as he disappears above the stage you see him rise from a trap door below the stage (secretly a twin). While the audience is clapping Alec appears in the hat Presto has, and Presto gives him a carrot. They bow and disappear below the stage.

The lights come up,and the audience gets ready to leave.

Exit

latest

As guests exit the theater they travel down a hallway which is plastered with a new poster that hasn't been seen up to this point, "Presto Digiotagione & His Bunny Alec Azam". At the end of the hallway guests enter a gift shop which sells a variety of Presto (and other Pixar Short) memorabilia, and also sells many take-home magic tricks. Connected to the gift shop is Disney Boardwalk AbracadaBar's sister location AbracadaBar Canteen, which is a more low-key lounge-based establishment that allows children and has live close-up magicians during all hours it is open.

This Bike shop serves as a general souvenir shop, with an interior dedicated to Pixar’s early history. The walls are adorned with sketches and concept art from all Pixar films with a focus on Pixar shorts.

Tucked away in the corner, highlighted by a simple yellow spotlight, is a red unicycle and three juggling balls.

This shop offers park guests with general souvenirs, but specializes in Christmas ornaments and snow globes. In the shop, guests are treated with a window display of snow globes that magically come to life! Through the power of 3D holographic imagery, attentive guests will be able to note the many antics of the Snowman as he struggles to escape his globe.

Tin Toy – Toy Shop

This shop is specifically geared toward all manner of Pixar toys, action figures, stuffed animals, and dolls. Although it shares the same space as Knick Knack Shack, both stores have their own hub fronts, and are distinctly separated in design. Tin Toy – Toy Shop also has a special glass counter filled with collectible traditional tin wind-up toys, including the Pixar Tin Toy Soldier!

After exiting the shop, a loud honking laugh followed by a chorus of angry squeaking sounds in a small alleyway, and curios guests will notice a large blue bird on a wire surrounded by many smaller birds (from the short, For the Birds).

The larger bird's weight has caused the wire to sag and is most likely the source of the smaller birds' ire.
Dueling One Man Bands

approval-addiction.jpg

Several times during the day, the dueling one man bands of Bass and Treble (from the Pixar short, One Man Band) take to the fountain piazza to battle each other in an effort to win the hearts of the guests. The increasingly complicated maneuvers and music crescendos as they try to out do each other. The winner is decided by the loudest cheering by the guests.

Gerri’s Games

geris-game1.jpg

In a little green area is a series of small dark green tables and two simple chairs at each one, the same set up as seen in Gerri’s Game. Guests are free to try their hand at the chess game set up on the table or if chess is a little to complicated, guests are welcome to try their hand at checkers. A lucky few may even get to test their wits against Gerri himself. This area is also a great place to relax and take a load off.

As the day winds to a close, more and more guests pile into the fountain piazza for some of the best views of the nightly show.

Between Night and Day: A Nighttime Show
As night descends on Pixar Plaza, mesh screens and scrims rise from the tops of the building surrounding the piazza fountain, and the projectors (hidden in the chimney facades) begin to set up for the night’s show: Between Night and Day. Guests are invited to gather around the fountain for this heart warming tale about how beautiful each of us are and on the inside we are more alike than we think.

The opening score from partly cloudy begins as a single stork steps out from atop one of the buildings and begins to take flight. One by one from around the piazza, storks take flight into the light of day, soaring up into the sky and into the clouds.

partly2.jpg

We follow Peck as he heads towards the gray cloud, Gus and lands where he puts his football helmet and pads and waits to make his next delivery. The scene pulls back to reveal the Day is watching this within his body, smiling quite happily. Within Day, we see Gus hand Peck a baby electric eel (where it immediately shocks him), and we hear the high pitch laughter from another roof nearby. (Much like Peter and the Wolf, there are no words to this show, and each character’s voice is represented by a different instrument.) Night comes into focus, laughing hysterically. Day glares at Night and gestures for him to do better.

Night grins as a spotlight appears in his center until Luxo fully appears and begins to play with Luxo Jr and the infamous Pixar ball.

latest

The pair play happily until Luxo Jr accidently squishes the ball and wanders off sadly. Day gasps in concern, and night quickly hides the scene in embarrassment. Day is not impressed and immediately produces a rainbow. A rainbow is projected in a never-ending line across the surrounding buildings. Even the fountain in the middle of the piazza starts to spout rainbow colored water.

Not to be outdone, Night erupts into fireworks and sets off a few fireworks overhead. Day stares in awe but refuses to be outdone and the rainbow scene pulls out until a beautiful, flowering meadow with bees buzzing peacefully. That is until a pesky bee named Wally B. seems to escape from Day and starts to chase Night around the surrounding buildings. Day laughs as Night flees from Wally B from rooftop to rooftop. As Night runs into Day, they both collide the flowering field transforms into night with fireflies floating gently. Fireflies illuminate the other buildings, surrounding the guests with their gentle glowing.

Day pushes Night off him, and Day points to his stomach again. We see Peck (sporadically sparking) arriving back to Gus and being handed a new package. As Peck flies away, the adorable head of a baby sandpiper (from the Piper short) peaks out. With a flutter of wings the scene changes to see the baby sandpiper happily settled with her mother in the nest.
piper-pixar-short-1.jpg

Night smiles and coos at the fluffy baby as she follows her mother out into the surf. Delight turns to horror as the happy sandpiper is engulfed in the surf. The water washes away, the baby sits, traumatized by the experience.

Screen-Shot-2016-11-06-at-11.06.51-AM.png

Both Day and Night are upset by what happened and the disheartened Luxo Jr appears back on Night’s body still dejected over the flattened ball. Day and Night both look at each other and back on their own sad insides before both collapse back to back in shared misery. Even the fountain, stops its water flow. Unseen by the two, Day’s sun starts to set and Night’s moon starts to rise until the meet in the middle coloring both Day and Night the same brilliant pinks and oranges.

day-and-night-pixar-short.gif

As they turn to look at each other, Day and Night are astounded to see that they cannot tell each other apart any more. As the sun and moon begin to move apart, Day changes into Night and Night is turned into Day. Immediately, the baby piper appears inside of Day having followed her new friend the hermit crab back into the surf, and Luxo Jr has found a new, bigger ball to play with inside of Night. Each is ecstatic at the happy endings that Day erupts in rainbow colors (the buildings are draped in rainbow colors to match and the fountain shoots up rainbow colors as well), and Night ignites his fireworks as more fireworks explode overhead in one last display. As the fireworks end, both Day and Night depart with their arms draped across the other’s shoulders in friendship.

We at Pixar Studios thank you for visiting our little piece of the park. Hopefully, as we continue to grow and create, we can offer even more innovative and inspiring works. Please come again!

Hi everyone,

First of all I'd like to say that I'm amazed by the entries which you guys have put together this time. All of them offer solid and immersive experiences which Disney could be proud of if it were to be realized. Here are my comments on the entries:

The Marvel Team,

As Black Panther is not out yet I'm stunned with the amount of detaill you guys were able to put into the land. Its smart to use this IP and actually quite realistic if we look at the trend of using popular and recently released movies. To me it was easy to walk through your area by the way you described it. I really felt like it was a cohesive area, which actually felt more like an area you would find in Disney's Animal Kingdom instead of Hollywood Studios, but its of course a cool way to bring more depth to the park. I really loved both of your rides, especially the Raft ride as it offered a new thrill but also added a new edge to the theme park innovation area of Hollywood Studios. I really wish you would have a clearer story in the raft ride though, as I felt like the climax ended quite quickly. Lastly, I felt like the land would be quite similar to Pandora in the Animal Kingdom with a simulator and a boat ride, but I suppose it still offers a unique experience due to the individual themes. Good job overall!

The Lucas Team,

This one actually got me really excited as the Goblin King is not an obvious IP to work with and also not the easiest. Both of your attractions were solid, but I especially liked the show ride, because I felt like the water ride somewhat limited the total experience. I really loved what you did to the IP in the area but I really would have loved a more detailled description of the area as I couldnt clearly see that before me. It would be a great addition to the park, but also a daring one as not everyone knows the IP, especially younger generations. It was amazing to read through your ideas, especially imagining the streetmosphere options in this area. And maybe even one of the things I liked most was the shop in the bedroom which is just one of those special experiences which combines practical space with immersive theming. So also to you, you can be proud of your result

Lastly

The Pixar Team,

I was pleasantly surprised to see what you did to your area as I had expected a more obvious choice like Monsters Inc or one of the other movies. Combining all these shorts gave the area a special feeling, in a shared universe sort of thing. It was like the village sort of told its story through all these different shorts. While reading your post, I realized it was like you were giving Hollywood Studios a Pixar Fantasyland so I must say that you guys come up with very original ideas which also work to me. I would love to see this area in real life. Considering the attractions, La Luna was obviously the highlight. The trackless boat system and the way you described the scenes, sound like a ground breaking family dark ride. The other attraction based on Presto sounded very enjoyable too, eventhough it wouldnt be one of the highlights of the park, which is totally okay because it does add to the whole area. To conclude, I have to compliment you guys on using the food trucks to be able to cover most of the Pixar shorts. Good job!

WOW! Great job by all three teams!

It's obvious that a lot of thought and heart was put into all of these projects, and you should all be very proud of your work.

MARVEL TEAM -

I was happy to see you took the Marvel/Universal contract into consideration with your proposal. I always like to keep things based in reality, so I appreciated that. I know that park placement was not part of the assignment, but knowing that Wakanda would be in DHS and having the map as reference offered a nice sense of scale.

I loved the amount of detail that was put into describing the queues and buildings.

Both rides seemed to be very immersive and do a very good job of bringing the world of Wakanda to life.

I'm glad you allowed room for future expansion. I also enjoyed the way you told the story of the mini-land in the framework of a movie.

Great work, as always!

LUCAS TEAM -

Okay! I did not see this coming!

What a brilliant choice however. Labyrinth provides a whole world of unique characters and locations that would be perfectly represented in the parks by a land of this size.

I was surprised by the choice of a theater show as opposed to a dark ride, but considering a flume ride had to be one of the attractions, the theater show offers a nice variety.

You did a fantastic job of extracting even the smallest details to incorporate into your attractions, and I felt that was particularly important here because it is just the one film, not the massively expanded universe that is Star Wars.

Your Streetmosphere character choices were phenomenal!

Great job!

PIXAR TEAM -

I really admire your choice in IP for this particular prompt. It's truly two fold; you're not missing out on an opportunity to do something grandiose in scale with a larger Pixar property, while at the same time, making it all about the Pixar Shorts allows you to pack a lot of detail and variety into a small area. The more I think about it the more painfully obvious it becomes!

The land feels quaint and happy, as a Pixar based land should. Nice work establishing that vibe.

Great selections for attractions. The La Luna ride and Presto show both feel adorable and fun. But what got me the most was your nighttime show! I love how much effort was put into it, and including that, (while technically increasing your attraction count to three), really brings the entire thing together and makes the area shine!

Wonderful work!

Honestly, all three teams did a great job, everyone clearly put a lot of effort into this. And nobody got out of control or went too big. I look forward to seeing what else you're all able to come up with. And hopefully our fourth team will be able to submit something to the next challenge.

Before I post my review, just wanted to say a couple of quick things.
First, big thank you to @orlando678- @AimYourBrent for helping out with the reviews this week.
Second wanted to thank the teams for their work this week. I created the comp as hopefully a way to have fun, imagineer, put a new theme/spin on the competitions and also bring up some movies that may interest some of you for future viewing. All of this I've already noted so won't go into anymore. I also hoped that in some way by throwing in some random requirements like the water ride and using your studio's IP (for this week anyway) that you all could potentially work on and produce at least a few projects that hadn't been explored or done much on these forums. Speaking for myself, I was really happy with the results and projects produced this first week. Some really awesome stuff!

Team Marvel
First of all, loved the "movie script" type presentation, and the use of Black Panther. Using him would bring a nice diversity to the park and also lend itself to some really interesting scenery. You didn't have to place it in a particular park, but brought a nice realism to help picture how it would work. For your boat ride, really excited to see what a Black Panther AA would look like, especially after WDI's work on the NRJ AA. I liked too that it was something anyone in the family could ride, mixing nicely with the moderate height requirement of your Simulator attraction. What struck the most as well after reading through your pitch was that not only would the mini land be a great representation for the parks/Marvel but the rides were really emblematic of the IP you were using. Wakanda is this ingenious mix of tech/natural environs and each of your attractions melded right in with that vibe. Would have loved to seen a few more original art pieces, but the two you had gave a great representation of walking into the land, but also the layout, etc. Everything explained in great detail. Really enjoyed this!

Team Lucasfilm
If I'm being perfectly honest, I was at first a little disappointed. You had limited IP choices, and I knew Star Wars would be skipped but I felt for sure you were going to do an amazing Indy land. I was pleasantly surprised though. Part of the reason for this competition was to expose members to film and you did that for me! I haven't seen this but now I have to check it out. Bog of Eternal Stench River Tours. What a name! I love too that you did a show as your second attraction instead of doing a ride. Really thinking outside the box and the "floating theater" idea sounded really cool. I LOVED the streetmosphere ideas. That is one thing I miss about Disney is that you don't see characters roaming around and how much better that can make the feel of the park. I was reminded of this when at DHS 2 weeks ago and seeing stormtroopers roaming the park interacting with guests, taking them away, etc. It lends a whole new vibe to the park. I can't speak to how you represented the film, but what I can say I appreciated the different thinking on this. This would be different then most anything at the WDW parks. I wished there was a little more intro/backstory on this to help me understand the land, but overall, a tremendous effort by you all.

Team Pixar
Again another team really thinking outside the box and brining a different idea to the park. I think you all were at one time discussing another IP and what sounded like a boat ride that I don't think anyone would have expected, I hope at some point on the forum that can get fleshed out. Sounded really cool. That being said, what you did with this was ingenious in taking not one, but all Pixar Shorts as your IP and blending them into a land that lended variety yet cohesively. A La luna boat ride and your description sounds like one of those things I thing Disney would just knock out of the park with the details and effects, especially seeing their work (albeit short length) on the NRJ. A lot of great detail and description with your Presto show. Entertaining and also a good way to give visitors a break from florida heat. I think of all the entries yours had the land I would enjoy the most food wise. Great way of incorporating not only several films, but also several varieties of food but the Pizza Planet truck. This land just had so many great things packed into it with the attractions, food and of course the shops that I almost forgot to note. Again, really amazing job by you all.

We'll have the placing results noted hopefully for you tonight and I'll post the Scene 2 prompt as well.
Thank you all!

Scene 2 That's Amore

Welcome to Scene 2 of the Great Movie Ride!

This week takes us in a completely different film and project direction from Scene 1. For many, the western can be a tough genre to get in to, especially the old school westerns. While a few westerns in recent years have made them a little more enjoyable, they can still be an acquired taste. Like many genres, there are invariably offshoots or variations of these genres that take a similar theme, but a different style to them. Such is the case with the spaghetti western, our genre for the week.
Becoming popular in the 60's this was a very stylized version of the western and made popular in large part to director Sergio Leone. They became great vehicles for young actors, especially a younger Clint Eastwood.
Let's take a look at The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

I absolutely love this movie. Eastwood starred in several Spaghetti Westerns during this time frame including Fistfull of Dollars. Eastwood, and actors Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef are all tremendous in this film. Not to mention it has to me one of the all time great movie music riffs. Don't know how many of you've had the chance to see any of it, but highly recommend it for your to do list.

So this leads us to our challenge for Scene 2, like the title of our film, dining at Walt Disney World can be a truly Good, Bad and Ugly experience. Your challenge is to create a new restaurant experience at Walt Disney World that doesn't fall into those bad and ugly categories. We aren't looking for just any restaurant here though, but a total dining experience.

Disney has shown that they can do a fairly commendable job with theming of some if its restaurants. We don't want however just another restaurant with a $45 steak and $10 dessert with some cool pictures on the wall and wait staff playing the part, but a truly immersive dining experience. A restaurant that might almost be considered an attraction itself. Something like T-Rex, Sci-Fi, Rainforest Café, et al all rolled into one. Animatronics, effects, scenery, etc. are all fair game. Where can I eat if I still want to enjoy a good meal, but be transported somewhere else theming wise.

So what are the criteria? (not a lot actually)
(1) Create a new WDW Dining Experience to be located in a park setting
(2) This can be table or quick service, whatever you feel is the best fit (or a blend of the two)
(2) Your restaurant will need to incorporate any existing attraction from MK/HS into the restaurant itself somehow, along the lines of La Hacienda de San Angel at Epcot and the Blue Bayou at Disneyland where the ride actually is joined to them. Obviously this rules something like Big Thunder Mountain out because who wants a train whizzing past them while they cut their steak or slurp their shake, but I think there are a number of attractions small and large that could be accommodated.
I know this will require a change in many cases to track layouts, paths, etc. so no restrictions there if you need to add scenes to a ride. Whatever you feel is necessary to make this a one of a kind dining destination is up to you.
Any questions, just let me know.
See you all at the movies!

Scene 1 Act a Fool Results

Before we get started, a little mood music from our season soundtrack and the title track for week 1, Act a Fool

I know there was at least one spaceball nut who figured this out. Of course everyone in the film is acting a fool, it is also from 2 Fast 2 Furious by Ludacris (ludicrous speed anyone?).

Anyway, let's have the envelopes please.

For Best Original Screenplay (write up/descriptions/storytelling/etc) and 10 points the award goes to
Pixar Studios. Well thought out, detailed and described. Concise information was easy to read. Just a great job here.

For Best Original Art Direction (Best Original artwork) and 15 points the award goes to
Marvel Studios. You provided a great original piece showing a vantage point entering your land, but also a nice blueprint shot of the layout and attractions

For Best Picture (Best overall idea, presentation, visuals, write up, the whole kitchen sink) and 70 points for first, 40 for 2nd and 25 for 3rd
For 2nd and 3rd place
The votes were counted and we have a tie! Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm each of your proposals and ideas were really well done and thought out. You each brought different aspects and/or originality to your lands and to be honest, it was just too hard to choose.
And the award for Best Picture goes to
Pixar Studios. A really fabulous idea through and through. I think we could all see this being ready for the parks.

Again, great job by you all. Thank you for the outstanding pitches provided. This was really like splitting hairs for the judges.

So where does that leave our race to the Oscars?
Pixar Studios - 105 points 1 Best Picture (70pts),Best Screenplay(10pts), 3 TT entries (15pts), 1 TT winner (10pts)

Marvel Studios - 60 points 2/3 Best Picture (35 pts), Best Original art direction(15pts), 2 TT entries (10pts)

Lucasfilm - 40 points 2/3 Best Picture (35 pts), 1 TT entry (5pts)

**********TRAILER TUESDAY******

Scene 2 That's A'more
In keeping with our food theme of the week (restaurant challenge, spaghetti western), your Trailer Tuesday prompt will be to propose a new, original Pixar short that takes place in some way at the Food & Wine Festival for studio execs to review.

The style, characters/names, story, etc is entirely up to you, but obviously interesting enough to warrant possibly being green lit for production.

Similar to the 1 sentence competition, you can use 1-3 sentences to provide your pitch along with 1 stock or or original piece of artwork if you so choose. Maximum of 3 entries per studio (1 per person) so if you are strapped for time this week helping your studio with the main project. This is a great way to pitch in and have a little fun with a topic.

5 points per entry will be awarded with one film proposal being selected to head to production and earning a 10 point bonus for their studio.

Please post all entries here in the project thread and include your studio name just to help keep things straight. Entries due by 7/13 10pm EST.

REMY'S FOOD & WINE FIASCO
Released at the premier of Epcot's anticipated Ratatouille ride, "Remy's Food & Wine Fiasco" tells of Linguini Alfredo being invited as a guest chef at the France Pavillion. Epcot's reps don't realize that Linguini cannot cook, so he once again hides master rat chef Remy inside his uniform, resulting in wild slapstick insanity in full view of Epcot's paying guests and the Orlando health inspector. Remy and Linguini must learn once again to work together, and the stuffy health inspector literally gets egg on his face.

Run Around The World
food-wine-fest-crowd-2.jpg

In a Pixar Short about perseverance and determination, we meet a young 22 year old athlete who wants to run around the World Showcase lagoon beginning near the International Gateway where it seems modestly crowded. He gets in running formation, and begins his trek around the promenade, only to realize he picked a Food and Wine Festival day to train, and begins to run into a swarm of guests, drunk and rambunctious, as the camera pans in slow motion to show the runner fighting through the drunk crowd as hilarity ensues all around him; beer is spilled, a california roll stuck in his head, as he races around determined to train.

Eventually, as the Chariots of Fire music winds down and he reaches his starting point again, he collapses in victory, as the camera pans up towards his two friends staring back at him collapsed on the ground, saying "wow - what was in that drink?" pointing to the bartender "I'll have one of those!"

HAHA...this reminds me of the end of the marathon I did at Epcot. Everyone grabbing a beer or a margarita while running and crossing the finish line. Bravo!

:hilarious: Thank you! I could only imagine the crowds at these events.
It was actually alright since they made sure to section us off. The hardest parts were when the runners wanted to get back on course with their drinks. I probably smelled more like a bar then just from all the splashes and spilled drinks. Honestly though, I was so tired by the end, I didn't care and laughed it off. :p

After a young boy gets separated from his parents at the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, he discovers a pair of goggles behind a booth. Upon wearing them, he can look into a parallel reality where EPCOT is the futuristic capital of the world, and hosting the 2017 World's Fair. After exploration and learning about different technology and cultures, the boys parents call out to him, so he takes the goggles off and goes to them.
