SCRIPT REWRITE IN PROGRESS.......
In examining the competition to this point, @D Hulk and I have made the determination to discontinue The Great Movie Ride in its current format. While there were initially 9 Scenes planned to take us through an early August finale, and another potential scene or two added pending overall engagement, we do not believe moving forward as is will be sustainable for that remaining time.
With initial teams of 9-10 players, and still with 8-9 on each, the hope was there would be more than enough coverage for members being unavailable due to personal commitments, travel, lack of engagement, etc. to accommodate about any scenario, but unfortunately that does not appear to be the case. We have tried to sprinkle in challenges from big to small that could offer a bit of something for just about everyone, even if they aren’t 100% Disney based, and with the larger teams allow members to take on smaller roles/assignments as needed but it has been a struggle most weeks even with the efforts of many to help get things completed.
With that in mind, the formal competition phase of The Great Movie Ride II is ending now that Scene 5 is complete.
As mentioned, we did have 4 more planned Scenes that we would be happy to still present as a challenge to GMR II or other forum participants, but outside of a competition format. The plan would be to still follow our competition schedule, but any interested parties will be formed into one Studio (like Scene 4), and we will present the challenges for this larger team to work through and Imagineer each week in more of a community type project, though still via PM. We will only proceed with this plan of action if there is enough interest to warrant.
Along those lines, if you do have interest in working as part of this larger Studio group for the next 4-5 weeks on the planned projects, we are offering a new sign-up period for any current participants or those who would like to join in for these 4 scenes. Signing up doesn’t mean you need to lead the team 4 weeks, or write pages of script, but we do ask that if you sign up, you have availability to brainstorm and contribute in some fashion on a regular basis (big or small) so that we can ensure it makes sense to consider moving forward at all.
With all that out of the way, sign-ups for The GMR II – The Reshoots is officially open.
