The goofy ways that WDW has changed your life

For my partner and I, our first visit in 2009 changed our lives forever. We miss it ALL THE TIME when we're not there. We LIVE for that trip every year since. We text each other a lot, throughout the day, and we've learned to express our excitement and love for WDW in short phrases... slang, if you will. For instance, sometime we just text "WDW!" or "Wildnerness Lodge!" :) Just to let each other know we're thinking about it.

But my favorite has to be this text: "C3"
Do you see Mickey??? :p

It's not really changed my life persay. I go on this site each morning, we visit WDW annually. We take other trips during the course of a year too. When we get to about 3 months out from our next WDW trip I begin to spend more time thinking about it, listening to the music, packing, looking around on the computer for information on it, etc. Friends know we go each year and begin asking, "When ya leaving?"

3. Our kitchen, living room, hallways, bedrooms are decorated with Disney art, figurines, memorabilia.
6. Most of my conversations start with " At Walt Disney World......"
7. I spend my spare time HERE.
:cool::D

I can totally relate to 6 and 7 and I'd be doing 3 if I had the money.

Our first year going to Disney we planned the trip as a reward for our 8 year old son for being so great that year. His younger brother was born with a defect and the whole year revolved of course around caring for him. Thankfully he had surgery at 4 months to correct the issue and a year later was given a clean bill of health. [he is 4 now, no issues :)]. Anyway our 8 year old never complained about being ignored etc. So we planned a surprise trip to Disney just the 3 of us after everything settled down. Since that time my husband has been sent overseas for military and each time he returns we celebrate with a trip to Disney. We have the best time and have been back every year since with both boys. We've also had several trips with extended family which was great. Hands down best vacation. We are all obsessed with it. My office is full if Disney stuff, everyone buys it for me a xmas. You can't explain it to anyone who has never been. Why would I go anywhere else now that doesn't treat me like royalty?

Can I just say I LOVE this thread.... I knew that there were other Disney nuts out there and joining this board 2 years ago has brought me to all of you. My Family has been Visiting Walt Disney World since 1976 I think. My mother visited with her parents. I can remember visiting with my grandparents the year Mickey and Minnie wore space suits. When ever a toddler in our family turned 3 everyone went to disney. My daughter couldn't even make it to that mile stone she was there at 11 months old. There aren't any Goofy way's Disney has changed my life there are TON's of Goofy way's that Disney has Molded my life. I love hearing about all the way's Disney has made a home in all our Hearts. :D

My ipod is loaded down with the best of the last 60 years of classic Disney music, I have a strong desire to become a CM....i have family all over Florida, and id move there in a heartbeat. Being there finally solidified my need to be there all the time, and ive explained to the wife how much cheaper WDW is when you live 30 minutes from it and have a season pass, and not 1500.20 miles hehe :) Really for me it gives me something to look forward to, and to always know no matter how bad things get you just gotta keep swimming :)

To be honest, I don't know how it's "changed" me persay because I've never known life without it. I started going when I was 2 and went every year until I was about 13 and now go every year with my children. However, I do often wonder what people who have never experiened it long for?

Like you Disney has always been a part of my life. My parents took us once a year. Once or twice we didn't go because money was tight and another year we went twice, so it offset. :D I never went through that teenage and young adult phase that didn't want to go to Disney. I didn't go as much during that period because my parents didn't take me as a teen and had no one else to go withy. I have a friend that has never gone and he "doesn't understand my obsession." Friends and family ask me when is my next trip. Am I suffering from withdrawl? However, like others have said, I am also the expert. I get asked questions all the time by friends and family. Disney is one of the few places that I forget my worries when I am there. It also makes me feel like a kid. Sometimes being a grown up just sucks, and you wish you were a kid. Life was so much simpler back then. There is just something about walking through MK and looking back and see the castle, or catching a glimpse of it as you are on Space Mountain. I've been called a "big kid" and "Peter Pan" because of the way that I am. I run my own small business, so when I have to be a grown up I am, but when I don't have to I won't. Because of Disney I think I will always be young at heart. There are alot of places around the world I would like to go and visit, but with kids my trips are limited and I don't want to sacrifice Disney, plus I remember when I was a kid. We went on a couple of vacations other than Disney and I hated it. I wanted to leave. My kids would probably drive me crazy with "it's not Disney." Perhaps when they are out of the house I"ll make those other trips.

I'm totally with you on this. We were talking to our friends the other day about taking a trip in January - we just went in May - and they were all just baffled by the idea! "Why don't you go skiing?" "Why don't you go to California? We went to California and it was great!" And I always just think "Why?" Why would I go somewhere else when I know there is no better place for a 7- and 2-year-old than Disney? I was fortunate enough as a child to travel around the world with my family. I live in Nebraska, but I have seen every state, Canada, Mexico, and have lived in Europe. I know what these places are like, I know they are great, and I know that some day my children will appreciate traveling to them; but not at this age. At this age, there is nothing better for them or me than Disney World. Plus, the cost is about the same (or less) whether you travel to the parks or hop on a plane elsewhere by the time you're done paying for your room, car rentla, food for 3 meals a day and snacks, and whatever entertainment you end up buying (because let's face it, they're kids and they're going to get bored sitting in a hotel). They may not understand me, but there is no question that I don't understand them. For the life of me, I don't understand why families with young children would opt not to take them to Disney when they spend the same amount of money (or more) going to places which just don't compare?

My friends call me the "Disney Dork" but that's completely alright by me because I wouldn't want it any other way. I LOVE Disney and I don't care what other people think! I've been going to Disney ever since I was 5 or 6 so it has been permanently burned into my brain, LOL! Every morning on the way to work I listen to music from the parks, there's something calming about it. My license plate on my car is Disney related. I watch videos on YouTube of other people's vacations to get that sense of being there. When I go to my local Yankee Candle I can always find a candle that reminds me of the way something smells at Disney. Hearthside smells exactly like Rome burning inside Spaceship Earth. I would love to get married at Disney, if I could ever find a good man! Yes, I'm CrAzY about Disney but I feel safe here because we're all CrAzY about Disney, right? :p

I have been going to WDW since I was a year old, so I have grown up with Disney. My husband is a different story. I ended up marrying a guy from central Florida who hated "the rat." After 8 years of marriage and 8 vacations, he is now telling me how many days we have left until our next trip. He even updates me on the posts on this site. We have turned him into a complete Disney-phile. This year will be even more special, because it is our first with our daughter (4th generation WDW fan!). She is only 3 months old, but I am definitely going to get some creepers taking her to the MK opening.

I love the smell thing! I drive people nuts, because I think everything smells like a ride.
