Hello Friends and Welcome to the First (and probably only)
THE GOLDEN MICKEY AWARDS
394475

Celebrating the Best of the Disneyland Resort!
The Golden Mickey Awards is an award show I'm starting that celebrates the Best of the Disneyland Resort! (This honestly could entirely flop but I had a sudden urge to create this so who knows).

At some point tomorrow, Nominations will be posted for an outstanding 26 categories- ranging from Best Off-Site Hotel to Best Theme Park (as if we don't know who will win)! A google form will also be posted allowing YOU to vote for your favorite picks in all 26 categories. You will be able to vote up until Sunday (August 4) at 12 noon, before the awards are given out at a ceremony in this very forum that same night!

Again, this idea could entirely flop, but I thought it would be fun as well as helpful to those planning their first trip, so they can see what people who've visited think is the best of the best.

Feel free to reply or private message me with any questions!

STAY TOONED TOMORROW FOR THE NOMINATIONS!

So are we talking about what Visit Anaheim describes as the nearby area? Aka Buena Park, Stanton, Garden Grove and Orange?

So included in the Theme/Amusement Parks would be Knott's Berry Farm, Knott's Soak City and Adventure City?

Shoppertainment Malls would include Anaheim GardenWalk, The Outlets at Orange, MainPlace Mall, Anaheim Plaza, Buena Park Mall and The Source?

Entertainment venues would include The House of Blues, Pirates Dinner Adventure, Medieval Times,Teatro Martini and Flightdeck?

Places to dine - Anaheim White House, Porto's Bakery, Anaheim Packing House, Odori Sushi, Aburi Sushi, In-n-Out, etc.

And I think a Special mention should go to Irvine Lanes - Southern California’s 40-lane premiere bowling center!

I was planning on just keeping this one the Disneyland Resort and it's hotels and theme parks, with an off-site hotel category as an added bonus. But this is a really good idea, maybe we can do another Golden Mickey's (next year?) for the general area outside the resort, assuming this one goes well!

No love for the Castle Inn? I've never been inside but from outside, the place looks helplessly charmingly trapped in the 1980s. The neon OPEN sign will take you right back to the days of video arcades, aerobics and the Michael Jackson/Bubbles saga.

I did a lot of research for the off-site hotels to find out which ones had the best reviews with the most amount of people staying there, etc. Castle Inn wasn't in the highest 6 so I didn't include it.
