For me, it's always been the organist.

I agree that they're all great in their own ways. I had to choose the Ghost Host because his voice sets the tone the entire ride. I'm surprised the Bride in the attic got any votes. Nothing against those who voted for her, but she looks too fake and masculine. I wish they'd do better with her. She needs another revamp to make her look feminine.

I preferred the older version when she just had those glowing eyes and no face. Something eerie about that version, with only her heartbeat being heard.

I know this is a controversial take but the hatbox ghost is definitely not all its cracked up to be. My complaint about him is that I had to ride Haunted mansion 3 times to actually observe the special effect.
I've never seen the hatbox ghost in person, but in videos he doesn't look impressive. He actually looks out of place. Maybe that's just because I'm not used to seeing him there? I'm not being argumentative with this question, but can anyone help me understand his relevance? I feel like they just shoehorned him into the ride for nostalgia. It just doesn't seem to fit IMO. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion to share.

When I went to Disneyland many many years ago, he was not in the attraction. I was first introduced to the character in a children's read-along record book about the HM.

"When you hear the chime, turn the page".
Ancient entertainment for you young'ins of today and all of your fancy gadgets. 😆

You may be correct. He's just sort of there by himself.

The organist received my vote because not only is the visual effect really cool, but the amount of effort the Imagineers went through to find just the right theater organ music to accompany this scene shows a commitment to detail that I just couldn't see happening for an attraction today.

You ain't kiddin'. So, by my screen name and avatar, I'm a bit biased in the use of the Pepper's Ghost visual effect. It's just a simple and brilliant way to create a ghost in open space through forced perspective and the giant pain of glass. (Funny, at quick glance after typing "giant pain of glass", my mind automatically reads "giant pain in the [hiney].") 🤣

The off-key organ music is MENACING! I have all the audio recordings for the entire ride including one of the entire ride-through, but without a doubt the part I listen to most is the off-key ballroom organ music. The tune is excellent in all other areas of the mansion of course, but in the ballroom it gives me chills. Even listening to it in my car (almost exclusively around Halloween) it gives me the chills.
