Mrs Willmark picks out the flowers, I just provide the manual labor...
I pick out the flowers, then get to watch hubby mow them over with the lawn mower because he forgets that I told him I planted there. 😂 It's been an ongoing "thing" between us for years. I think my next attempt, I'll cover them with a big upside-down flowerpot.

It's not really his fault though...I grew up in a rural/suburban area with tons of woods and ample gardens in the yard combined with random plantings around trees. He grew up very near the city (there's a split highway right at the end of his parents old street), with a small patch of trees behind his parents lawn, and gravel around the foundation of the house instead of gardens. He just doesn't get it...yet. ;)

I did that once as a kid when I was around 13? Claimed I didn’t see my moms 3 foot high rose bush...

Here is a list of my new plants..

2 Basil
2 Dill
1 Garlic chives
2 cucumber
2 spinach
1 kale
1 red pepper
1 spaghetti squash
1 Roma tomato
1 cauliflower
1 blackberry
2 blueberry
4 strawberry

hoping to plant them today. I am planting them along the side of my house, one row. I’ve googled what can be grown together, but does anyone have any tips before I plant?
This is my first time doing so many varieties of veggies and fruits.

So here is where I’m at; remember the first photo in the thread is just a guide.

I made the boxes inside the garden smaller and the outer boxes much larger. I also made the walk paths wider. I still have two more boxes to dig out. If all goes well I should have the garden soil being delivered this weekend coming up. Here it is at the end of the day.

Better off with multiple rows rather than long single ones on almost every case.

Hi all,
Just did a marathon of garden work this weekend.
In addition to some minor clean up and maintenance, we planted alot of new things.
We saw a commercial for Sunrise Nursery in Grant Park,Il.
It is about a 75 minute drive for us but well worth it.
Bought marigolds, calendula, zinnias, lantana, “grape” coral bells, lamium, marguerite daisies, dragons blood sedum, and mimulus.
In addition to all of that, we planted radish, carrot, peas, green beans, green onions, cucumbers, butternut squash, jalapeño, and tomatoes-black krim, purple Cherokee, Japanese trifle, Roma, pink brandy wine, golden girl, and Wisconsin 55.
There’s more but I honestly can’t remember right now.
I will post some pics soon.

So, I have 2 ”pink lemonade” blueberry bushes. Had them for a few years.
Never had 1 berry grow.
Was told by an old gardener friend that I need 3 blueberry bushes for them to produce.:banghead::banghead::banghead:.
On the other hand, my golden raspberries produce some awesome berries!

Blueberries do well here must have 20 plants put gallons in the freezer every year. Started picking sugar snap peas and greens beans. Tomatoes are about 4 1/2 ' tall and full of green tomatoes, salad tomatoes are just starting to ripen. Will be starting some sweet potatoes and plant them in the other garden I just tilled up. I'm jealous can't grow raspberries here.
