So its "Disney's 100th Anniversary" & I was thinking about what could Disneyland wouldn't look like in my opinion & what things this project could had. As an Armchair Imagineer for about i guess 8/9 years even before i had forums.wdwmagic account, i visited many Amusement & Themed Parks like some Cedar Fair Parks, Universal Orlando & even in this topic Disney, but i only visited Walt Disney World in Florida a couple of times for vacation - (Which i always love this place) but i always wish either if i was little & love to go to Walt's Original Disneyland. Maybe One-Day i would love to go & see what his park looks like but for now lets begin this project.

Maybe one-day i would love to go & see what his park looks like but for now lets begin this project.

Introduction

The Begin of his Dream-Park begins when Walter Elias Disney - (or shorted name as "Walt Disney") was visiting Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California with his two daughters Diane and Sharon. While eating his bags of peanuts & watching them ride the merry-go-round, he came up with the idea of a place where adults and their children could go and have fun together, though his dream lay dormant for many years.

View attachment 701168
The earliest documented draft of Disney's plans was sent as a memo to studio production designer Dick Kelsey on August 31, 1948, where it was referred to as a "Mickey Mouse Park", based on notes Disney made during his and Ward Kimball's trip to the Chicago Railroad Fair the same month, with a two-day stop in Henry Ford's Museum and Greenfield Village, a place with attractions like a Main Street and steamboat rides, which he had visited eight years earlier. The initial park concept, the Mickey Mouse Park, was originally planned for an eight-acre (3.2 ha) plot to the south, across Riverside Drive from the studio. Besides Greenfield Village and the Chicago Railroad Fair, Disney was also inspired by Tivoli Gardens in Denmark, Knott's Berry Farm, Colonial Williamsburg, the Century of Progress in Chicago, and the New York's World Fair of 1939.

View attachment 701175
His designers began working on concepts, though the project grew much larger than the land could hold. Disney hired Harrison Price from Stanford Research Institute to identify the proper area in which to position the planned theme park based on expected future growth. Based on Price's analysis, Disney acquired 160 acres (65 ha) of orange groves and walnut trees in Anaheim, southeast of Los Angeles in neighboring Orange County. Construction of Disneyland began on July 16, 1954, & cost about $17 million to complete.

View attachment 701178
The park was opened on July 17, 1955 which was open only to invited guests and the media with 28,000 people attended the event. The following day, it opened to the public, featuring twenty attractions. The Special Sunday events, including the dedication, were televised nationwide and anchored by three of Walt Disney's friends from Hollywood: Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, and Ronald Reagan.

Over these years since 1955, Disneyland brings in more attractions & entertainment to Walt's Original Magic Kingdom, From climbing the alpine peaks of Matterhorn Bobsleds in 1959, to going to the streets of New Orleans Square in 1966, Flying into Space on Space Mountain in 1977 & having a Zip-a-Dee-Do-Dah on Splash Mountain in 1989. In the 1990s, Former CEO of the Company Michael Eisner & Disney decided to turn Disneyland into a similar multi-park, multi-hotel resort destination like at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida when that open in October 01, 1971 after 5 years from Walt's Passing in December 1966. The plan of this "Original DL Resort" is with WestCOT Center, a theme park based on Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center, on the site of the original Disneyland parking lot. The Disneyland Hotel would be reconfigured and renovated. The 800-room New Disneyland Resort Hotel, - (confusing but that would do), anyways this idea will be based on the Hotel Del Coronado just like the Grand Floridian Resort in WDW. The Santa Barbara Mission would inspire The Magic Kingdom Hotel. The Beverly Hills Hotel would influence the 1,800-room WESTCOT Lake Resort, There is also an 5,000-seat amphitheater called The Disneyland Bowl, & the shopping and dining district would be called The Disneyland Center, This shopping mall would surround a six-acre lake and be influenced by some of California’s most beautiful waterfront areas and coastal buildings like the Palisades, the Catalina Casino, the Venice Boardwalk, & the Coronado Island.

But with the new Euro Disney Resort, which opened in April 12, 1992, becoming a financial and public relations albatross for the company, Disney was unable to finance the project, and cancelled WestCOT in 1995 & as well for some of those plans scrapped & cancelled but for a "Second Gate Project" was not giving up yet & not one bit. So Disney has a better plan & the Disney executives gathered in Aspen, Colorado for a 3-day retreat, where they came up with the idea for a California-themed park instead of having either an All-American Park like Disney's America, A Disney-MGM Studios Park or an West-Coast Version of Epcot, dubbed Disney's California Adventure Park, to be built on the same site slated for WestCOT. $1.4 billion was budgeted to build the park, a retail district called Downtown Disney, and hotels like The Grand Californian Resort and Spa & The Paradise Pier Hotel.

View attachment 701182
Construction of the park began in June 1998 and was completed by early 2001. Disney initially projected high attendance rates at the new park; a series of preview openings held in January 2001 led to negative reviews, however, and after the park officially opened to the public on February 08, 2001, the company's attendance projections were never met. Disney spent the next several years incrementally adding new rides, shows, and attractions, and implementing other promotions aimed at boosting attendance like A Bugs Land, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Playhouse Disney Live on Stage & even The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror. In 2007, Disney & CEO Bob Iger announced a major overhaul to Disney's California Adventure consisting of new expansion as well as re-construction of existing areas of the park. Construction lasted for five years and was completed in stages, culminating with the opening of World of Color, Buena Vista Street and even Cars Land along with the re-dedication of the park in June 2012. In August 2015, it was announced that Disneyland Park would receive a 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in the 2019 season with 2 main attractions and tons of dining & shopping experiences in a storytelling-land like no-other. Avengers Campus opens in June 04, 2021 when the Disneyland Resort reopened in mid-2021, after being closed for over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. & even in 2023 when Disney100 starts, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway opens on January 27, 2023 with the reimagined/refresh of Mickey's Toontown opening in March 19 2023 & so much more.

View attachment 701181
& so for over 68 years in the making & even during The Company's 100th Anniversary, Disneyland continues to grow & expanded. & Walt was so right that "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." But What-If Disneyland's Vision of The Next Generation could be better that what we had today, well that why i'm here for it to talked about Disneyland in my way.

Soon i would talked about some-things in my opinion that would fit & what my idea is at this "Original Vacation Kingdom of California since 1955" - (BTW that is what i wanna make my slogan to this Resort or even on the DLR Logo), so stay tuned because there is More to come.
Hollywoodland is supposed to be opened at Disneyland in 1999 along with the attractions:
The Great Movie Ride
Superstar Television
Dick Tracy's Crimestoppers
Baby Herman's Runaway Baby Buggy Ride
Toontown Transit

His designers began working on concepts, though the project grew much larger than the land could hold. Based on Price's analysis, Disney acquired 160 acres (65 ha) of orange groves and walnut trees in Anaheim, southeast of Los Angeles in neighboring Orange County. Construction of Disneyland began on July 16, 1954, & cost about $17 million to complete. Difficulties in obtaining funding prompted Disney to investigate new methods of fundraising, and he decided to create a show named Disneyland. It was broadcast on then-fledgling ABC. In return, the network agreed to help finance the park. For its first five years of operation from 1954 & until 1959, Disneyland was owned by Disneyland, Inc., which was jointly owned by Walt Disney Productions, Walt Disney, Western Publishing and ABC.

The Program about Disneyland begins in October 27th, 1954 on ABC & Walt expands about his Magical Kingdom full of Yesterday, Tomorrow & Fantasy.

& U.S. Route 101 (later Interstate 5) was under construction at the same time just north of the site; in preparation for the traffic Disneyland was expected to bring, two more lanes were added to the freeway before the park was finished.

Traffic was delayed on the two-lane Harbor Boulevard. Famous figures who were scheduled to show up every two hours showed up all at once. The temperature was an unusually high 101 °F (38 °C), and because of a local plumbers' strike, Disney was given a choice of having working drinking fountains or running toilets. He chose the latter, leaving many drinking fountains dry. This generated negative publicity since Pepsi sponsored the park's opening; disappointed guests believed the inoperable fountains were a cynical way to sell soda, while other vendors ran out of food. The asphalt that had been poured that morning was soft enough to let women's high-heeled shoes sink into it. Some parents threw their children over the crowd's shoulders to get them onto rides.

In the 1960s, Walt Disney plans a secret project called "Project X". Numerous locations were proposed for his Disney World, including St. Louis, Niagara Falls, Washington D.C., New Jersey & New York City's World Fair site. Walt also considered incorporating an experimental city into his plans for a Palm Beach, Florida development with RCA and investor John D. MacArthur in 1959. Eventually, Central Florida was chosen. Commenting on the choice, Walt said, "Here in Florida we've enjoyed something that we've never enjoyed at Disneyland: a blessing of size. There's enough land here to hold all the ideas and plans we could possibly imagine." The plans for "The Florida Project," officially dubbed Disney World, called for a Disneyland-style theme park and resort area, E.P.C.O.T., an industrial park, an airport, and an entrance complex. Disney quietly purchased undeveloped wetlands in Osceola County and Orange County using dummy corporations to avoid price gouging. By June 1965, Disney had acquired 27,433 acres—twice the size of Manhattan—for an estimated $5.1 million. But on December 15, 1966, Walt Disney died in the age of 65. Roy O. Disney persisted and took the reins on the project, coming out of retirement, but he could not convince the board to build EPCOT. The Magic Kingdom project proceeded with construction beginning the same year under the supervision of Roy, and Walt Disney World Resort opened in October 1971 with only the Magic Kingdom and two hotels. Roy insisted it be called Walt Disney World as a tribute to the man who had dreamed it up.

sc0006033f.jpg

Fast-Forward to the 1990s, CEO Michael Eisner of The Walt Disney Company, announced plans to expanded the original Disneyland Park into a multi-park, multi-resort business model like at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida when that open in October 01, 1971. Hey There Guys, i planned out of what my "Realistic & Dream-able Ideal Way" could be/look like so i hope you enjoyed & maybe i can make a sketch of what it could look like as well. So Lets Start with Disneyland, the park that start it all.

Disneyland Park

"To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts which have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."
- Walt Disney, July 17, 1955

The magic of dreams coming true begins as we explore the ten cardinal realms of Walt Disney's Disneyland. "Scene One" was Main Street, U.S.A., where turn-of-the-century America would be relived.

Main Street, U.S.A.
"Main Street, U.S.A. is America at the Turn of the Century - the Crossroads of an Era. The Gas Lamp and Electric Lamp - the Horse-Drawn Car and the Auto Car. Main Street, U.S.A. is everyone's hometown... The Heartline of America."

Adventureland
“Here is Adventure, Here is Romance, Here is Mystery. Tropical Rivers - Silently flowing into the unknown. The Unbelievable Splendor of Exotic Flowers…the Eerie Sounds of the Jungle... With eyes that are always watching. This is Adventureland.”

Frontierland
"A Tribute to the Faith, Courage, and Ingenuity of the Pioneers. Here we Experience the story of Our Country's Past. The Colorful Drama of Frontier America in the Exciting Days of the Covered Wagon and the Stagecoach. The Advent of the Railroad...and the Romantic Riverboat."

Fantasyland
“Here is the world of imagination, hopes and dreams. In this timeless land of enchantment, the age of chivalry, magic and make-believe are reborn - and fairy tales come true. Fantasyland is dedicated to the young and the young-at-heart - to those who believe that when you wish upon a star, your dreams do come true.”

Tomorrowland
"A Vista into a World of Wondrous Ideas, Signifying Man's Achievements...a Step into the Future, with Predictions of Constructive Things to Come. Tomorrow Offers New Frontiers in Science, Adventure, and Ideals. The Atomic Age. The Challenge of Outer Space...and Hope for a Peaceful and Unified World."

In its 65/70+ years of operation, Disneyland has grown to include more "lands" and thematic destinations, all in which find their origin in the same fantasy and adventure that built Walt's Magic Kingdom in 1955:

New Orleans Square - (July 24, 1966)
"At the Bend in the River, the 'Gay Paree' of the American Frontier. At the Bend in the Mighty River. A New Orleans of Days Gone By."

Folktale Forest - (March 04, 1972)
"A Backwoods Refuge to the Great Heroes and Legends of the American Frontier. The myths of John Henry, Paul Bunyan, and Davy Crockett establish the romance and allure of the Great Outdoors. Here is a Sleepy Backwoods Hamlet, a Tranquil Refuge."

Liberty Street - (July 04, 1976)
"Past Main Street Stirs a New Nation Waiting to be Born. Its 1776, Thirteen Colonies have Banded Together to Declare Their Independence from the Bonds of Tyranny. It is a Time when Silversmiths Put Away Their Tools and March to the Drums of Revolution, a Time when Gentlemen Planters Leave Their Farms to Become Generals, a Time when Tradesmen Leave the Safety of Home to Become Heroes."

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - (May 31, 2019)
"The Crossroads of a Galaxy Far, Far Away: The Planet of Batuu. The Past, Present and Future of this Fantastical Realm Coexist Among the Soaring Spacecraft and Alien Creatures of this Thriving Spaceport. Galaxy's Edge Celebrates the Magic and Mystery of Star Wars; Here Imagination Gives Birth to Adventure."

The Shadowlands - (October 31, 2026)
"Beyond the Land of Fantasy & Happiness of Fantasyland, There's a Evil-Place home to our fav Villains at a village of their very own, a place where defeated villains came to think of new evil plans and ideas & Where all your Nightmares Come True."

In the design of Walt's Magic Kingdom, everything is a form of storytelling. We, the audience, will physically experience one adventure after the next, seldom as spectators, but almost always as "participants" in the drama. In contrast to the county fair or carnival known the world over, Disneyland Park is a seamless, thematic epic. This perfect blend of yesterday, tomorrow & fantasy is in favor of the wild animals, alien creatures, wild cowboys and storybook castles found just beyond its Main Gate & entering right into Main Street.

Actually my thoughts that Hollywoodland would've been opened in 1999 with attractions:
The Great Movie Ride
Superstar Television
Dick Tracy's Crimestoppers
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Toontown Transit
and Baby Herman's Runaway Baby Buggy Ride

Main Street, U.S.A.
"When You Come to the Main-Gate, Pass the Railroad Station, Down the Steps & Across a Band-Concert Park, Straight ahead lies a Heartline of America, "An Old-Fashion Main Street"." - Walter Elias Disney, October 27, 1954 - (on The Disneyland Story Program)

Inspired by Walt Disney's hometown of Marceline, Missouri, Main Street, U.S.A. is designed to resemble the center of an idealized turn-of-the-20th-century (c. 1910) American town. According to Harper Goff, who worked on Main Street, U.S.A. with Walt, he showed Walt some photos of his childhood home of Fort Collins, Colorado. Walt liked the look, and so many of the features of the town were incorporated into Main Street, U.S.A. Another significant source of inspiration for the Main Street, U.S.A. concept came from the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, which Walt Disney visited twice in the 1940s.

Walt Disney said -
"For those of us who remember the carefree time it recreates, Main Street will bring back happy memories. For younger visitors, it is an adventure in turning back the calendar to the days of their grandfather's youth."

Land Walkthrough & Details (Part 1) - Entrance Plaza

At the Start of Disneyland is like a Movie when Guests stepped the entrance plaza where this Fort Collins-inspired Main Street Station stands & Once through the ornate turnstiles and beyond the gate, we glimpse the storied clock tower and station, the smile of a Mickey Mouse Floral. We often hear the haunting echo of the station master calling out announcements as an authentic, 3-foot narrow-gauge heritage locomotive pulls into the station. The romance and grandeur of early steam travel is captured in the excitement of The Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad.

The Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad is one of the most iconic attractions in Disneyland since Opening Day in 1955: a Grand-Circle Tour of the Magic Kingdom in 20 mins. After station stops in New Orleans Square, Fantasyland/Shadowlands and Tomorrowland, we catch the many sights and sounds along the rails - an ancient jungle, the canyons of Frontier, a metropolis of the future & even back-in-time to Primeval World & then back to the Turn-of-a-Century Main Street again.

From the Station, we pass through one of two tunnels on either side of the aforementioned Mickey Floral. A bronze plaque above either tunnel read a familiar sentiment:

“HERE YOU LEAVE TODAY
AND ENTER THE WORLD
OF YESTERDAY, TOMORROW
AND FANTASY”

An iconic attribute to any Magic Kingdom, electronic posters line the walls of either tunnel, each interchanging to offer a taste of the coming attractions and adventures. One unique detail, however, is that each poster features a simple animation; i.e. Dumbo actually appears to fly.

But we are just getting starting our Disneyland Journey, as we go into the Tunnels & right towards Main Street's Town Square, coming right up.

Land Walkthrough & Details (Part 2) - Town Square

As Guest exit out the tunnels, we entered to the second part of Main Street U.S.A. & that is Town Square.

1682276127224.png

In Town Square, we can board an old-fashioned Main Street Vehicles, like Fire Engine, Horseless Carriage, Omnibus, or Horse-Drawn Streetcar, for a one-way trip to the center of Disneyland via Main Street, U.S.A. To choose a mode of transportation, each vehicle has a designated stopping zone marked by a decorative sign. City Hall is the home of Guest Relations. Friendly cast members are always on hand to answer questions, provide touring tips, make reservations and assist visitors with special needs. The second floor of the adjacent Fire Station called The Disneyland Fire Station 55. was once the site apartment of Walt Disney, and its interior furnishings have been preserved just as he left them five decades ago. The furnishings within Walt's apartment include Victorian antiques that he and Mrs. Disney collected over the years.

A long-standing tradition of Disneyland is a performance by a firehouse Dixieland band. The Hook 'n' Ladder Co. is no exception to this familiar joy of the Magic Kingdom. The world-famous Dapper Dans often perform in Town Square to welcome us as we enter the park. Their four-part harmonic repertoire includes barbershop ballads as well as many memorable tunes from the world of Disney. The Disneyland Lost & Found and Locker Facility can also be found in Town Square, a beacon for Disney's standard of excellence in customer service.

On a morning like today, when Main Street is open early to guests, we are invited to leisurely wander through Town Square and experience its shops, exhibits and attractions, as we anxiously await for the remainder of Disneyland to open, including round trips on the Disneyland Railroad and go inside
The Town Square Exposition Hall - (Formerly as "The Main Street Opera House"), where The Walt Disney Story, An Multimedia & AA Show & The Disney Gallery, a walkthrough attraction lies inside.

A band concert in the park on Town Square was a common civic diversion of small town American life at the turn-of-the-century. The Disneyland Band hearkens back to that time with their daily concerts in Town Square & a walk to Main Street, Central Plaza & Back on Town Square again. The iconic program includes energetic musicians, synchronized marches, popular songs of the early twentieth century, and songs of the Disney Canon.

& finally something very importation on Town Square & as a Disneyland tradition since 1955 is the
Flag Retreat Ceremony held every evening, just before sundown, at the base of the Town Square flagpole. The moving yet understated ceremony serves as a reminder to us all that Walt Disney himself wanted Disneyland to honor the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America. Seen in the above artwork by Imagineer Harper Goff, a War Memorial stands in tribute to the brave men and women who have served in America's Armed Forces, though the soldier in portrayal is that of a Union lieutenant in the Civil War. & sometimes during the anniversary of Walt Disney's Death on December 15, they held down a Flag Retreat Ceremony too in honor of the Lost of our Founder "Walter Elias Disney" in 1966 called "A Flag-Retreat to the Death of Walt Disney Ceremony" that also held too in sundown but also sometimes during the mid-morning/afternoon. - ("Which BTW i made up that idea of having a Flag Retreat Presentation of Walt's Death too just well to honor him")

That was Part 2 of Main Street U.S.A. right into Town Square. Pretty soon its almost time to "Walked Down the Middle of Main Street", the mainest thing of all of Main Street U.S.A. which would be in Part 3 of our Main Street Journey.

Land Walkthrough & Details (Part 3) - Main Street

Our next-stop on this Hometown USA is We Walked Down the Middle of Main Street.

The First Thing on Main Street is The Original Emporium. This impressive, two-story department store is the largest mercantile in the entire park, a testament to the grandeur and nostalgia of a Victorian Main Street. Wooden escalators, crystal chandeliers, and sweeping rotundas set our stage. Per tradition, storefront window vignettes portray scenes of the Disney Canons.

The Main Street Magic Shop has been a Disneyland staple for decades, and is even where comedian Steve Martin began his career. next to the Magic Shop. The distinctive sound of early 1900s cinema can be heard in all its ragtime charm from inside the Main Street Cinema. The films shown here are an assortment of live-action short and feature-length subjects of the silent era, as well as classic Mickey Mouse shorts, including the one that made him a star: Steamboat Willie.

"The old Market House filled with penny candy and fat, juicy pickles right out of the barrel," wrote Martin A. Sklar in 1969, brought park guests "the personal adventure of examining, shopping, and inhaling the nectar of nostalgia." The pot-bellied stove and woodsy warmth remain in the old Market House, a seamless blend of nostalgic general store and modern Starbucks Coffee. A deli counter and selection of meats and cheeses are on one end of the store, while on another, the familiar setup of a Starbucks - if Starbucks had appeared in 1900. Mounted on the walls of the Market House are several old-fashioned telephones. Lifting the receiver to our ear, we might hear a comical party line conversation authentic to the 1890s.

Center Street runs perpendicular with Main Street. East Center Street has perhaps the most beautiful sight in Disneyland - the Main Street Flower Mart. There isn't a wilted petal in sight - the flowers are always fresh - being they are made of plastic... East Center Street travels directly into neighboring Liberty Street.

The beloved Candle Shop - (Sponsored by The White Barn Candle Co.) also remains intact. The thick scent of candle-wax and vanished flame fill the air; candles of all shape, size and color stock the shelves & counters. Walt Disney was passionate about the value of books, and a Book Store called "The Wonderful World of Books" was a component of Main Street from the earliest designs & would still be here in my project. This is your small, friendly neighborhood bookstore of yesteryear. The reading selection includes bestsellers, artbooks, classics, magazines - and perhaps the world's finest assortment of Disney-related books anywhere; Disneyland travel guides, books about Imagineering, history books, Walt Disney biographies, manga, behind-the-scenes documents, photo books, and books for children and adults about Disney films like Marvel, Pixar & Star Wars & TV Shows like Disney Junior & the Disney Channel. Also as a bonus i was thinking of adding in a AA Tigger Stamp Booth like at Disneyland Paris.
