The Crossroads

Hi there-

I'll be leaving for WDW in a little less than three days and have a(nother) question: What is the best way to get from one's WDW resort to the Crossroads of the World? One member of our party has some special dietary needs, so we need to do a little food shopping on the first day of our trip. Is it walkable from Downtown Disney or do we need to take a cab?

Thanks!

There may be a shuttle that runs from the Downtown Disney hotels or even Downtown Disney itself straight to the Crossroads shopping center. I'm honestly not sure though.

If there isn't then a cab will be the best option.

Just be prepared, the Crossroads isn't cheap. I drive so I have easier access to other stores. Winn Dixie and the WalMart Supercenter have much better prices even though these are even higher then if I drive further out.

Gooding's Supermarket in the Crossroads shopping center is walkable from the Downtown Disney area. It is a little bit of a hike, but if you deal with park walking it probably shouldn't be too hard to do. The prices are higher than a normal grocery store, because they are there for the sole purpose of getting the tourist to shop.

When I told Americans that I walked that distance they thought I was crazy. To the British it's an easy walk. It's not short, but it's no great problem.

I recall making this walk once during my College Program. I pretty much concur with the sentiments already thrown out. If you can handle a half hour or a bit more (as I recall) of hiking, then it's no big deal. You can always walk one way and catch a cab back if you decide it's too long to walk both ways.

I walked there from DTD more than once when on College Program. It was not a bad walk, a bit long, so it can be tiring, specially if its hot. I would not walk back if you are carrying groceries, though.

I would ask at Guest Relations at your resort. I am sure someone there can help you.
