The ECTO-1 is one of my favorite sets.

The way the idea LEGOs work is that they run them for somewhere around a year, and then drop it entirely. I assume it's to keep the ideas line uncluttered. Rights might have something to do with it as well, as most of them are based off of IPs.
They do have IP/Rights issues with the IDEA line.
