Trip Report The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway…Actually Yes, Yes It Did

Hello!!

So, excited to share another TR with you all! This quick trip was the trip that felt like it wouldn’t happen until we actually got on the airplane, so I was afraid to even write a Pre-Trip Report. But, we made it and had a GREAT time (even though the cold DID in fact bother us, sorry Elsa).

The Details…

Who: Me, and two of my wonderful colleagues who I will call A & P.

11EB662D-ADF2-44F9-9AD7-CEF1A6773842.jpeg

Why: A & P both had daughters who were going to be in WDW on a school trip, and wanted to be close to them in case anything went wrong. As for me, I never need a reason to go to Disney!!

Where: All-Star Music (to be at the same resort as the girls)

When: January 20-24, 2022

I was very excited to try out Disney in January. Typically, we go in the summer months and have been once over Thanksgiving and once over New Years Eve. I was looking forward to (hopefully) some low crowds and cooler weather! Little did I know, we were certainly in for some COOLER weather. 😂

Up Next… Travel Day!

Magic Kingdom

Typical for me on my first day at Disney, I woke up very early around 5:00 and could not go back to sleep. I was just excited to get the day started!

Everyone else was awake early too so we got ready, had a quick granola bar breakfast in the room. I bought the 3 of us matching ears (in gold of course!) celebrate the 50th.

We went to straight to the bus stop and got right on the first bus around 7:30. I was afraid we’d stop at Movies too, but we went straight to MK.

On the bus ride there, I panicked. I missed the 7:00 AM Genie+ first booking! I hurriedly pulled it up and booked Jungle Cruise for 11:55. I had wanted a much earlier time and read that JC was a good first ride to book because it sells out, but I was satisfied with 11:55 considering I got on so late. 🤪

We arrived and went straight to Guest Relations to get A’s DAS situated. No line at all and the CM was so nice!

Afterwards, we waited for RD. A thought they might still do the welcome show at the train station for the early park entry guests, but sadly they didn’t.

I snapped a photo of the Mickey & Minnie Statues on our way to Fantasyland. P wanted to try and rope drop SDMT. She said that is what her family usually does. We typically go straight for Adventureland instead, so this was a different experience for me!

We were near the front of the crowd, thankfully. A very large group accumulated behind us. I was hoping they would let us enter the queue a little early, but they held us right up until 8:30.

A note on the weather for this day…

This was by FAR the warmest and most beautiful day of the whole weekend, and by the looks of it, the warmest day since then. We were a bit chilly in the morning, but it warmed up to a neat perfect temperature as the day went on. Short-sleeves were comfortable. Knowing what I know now, I wish we had cherished it a little more. 😂

Anyway, we made it to SDMT and waited right around 20 minutes.

(Can’t remember why I took this picture😅)

I took this one though because I was surprised to see some of the barriers still in the queue. This became a theme on this trip. It seemed totally random where the barriers were. Some lines even had them and then it would randomly stop. It really just seemed like they were in the process of removing them but didn’t finish?

7AA8F8F4-0415-41FD-8BF0-17AD5BAE18B8.jpeg

I didn’t know if it was still a no-go with Covid, but I asked if we could have the back (because IMO it is totally the best!) the CM happily obliged!

Where to Next? Perhaps off to Neverland?

6 pillows! Nice!
I thought so too, until I realized that those were for both beds. ☹️😂 Thankfully, A & P brought their own so I had most of them to myself! 😎
Yay! Great start to your trip:) Looking forward to hearing more!

There hasn’t been a Welcome Show from the Train Station since January of 2017. It was moved to the Castle stage and just recently resumed (a truncated version) from being “dark” after the pandemic reopening.
Ah okay! We clearly don’t make it to actual RD that often 😂

The wait times were still very low so we went straight to PP next. It was pretty much a walk-on!

*unpopular opinion: I LOVE this ride, it is just so classic Disney, but I don’t understand why it gets the waits it does. I wouldn’t wait more than about 25 minutes for it.*

While we were in walking over to the line for Pan, A said she wanted to do Pooh so I checked and the wait for that was up to 35 minutes. We decided to use the DAS for that so I booked it.

A & P both had some chips on the way over there and by the time we were there, it was time for our return time.

I love this ride! We also noticed that they had opened back up all of the interactive elements of the queue. There were some kids having a great time.

We decided to stay in Fantasyland and walked over towards Gaston’s Tavern. On the way, we saw Belle!

P tried to get my picture with her (because that’s my favorite princess movie) but this is the best we got. As I looked at this, I cracked up because of the combination of what my shirt says and the fact that the sun was very much in my eyes. 😅

The gift shop in the Gaston Tavern area was still closed, but we kept going and took a trip under the sea, which was a walk-on. It was around 9:20 at this point.

No diners yet! Pinocchio Village Haus was still closed because it was so early in the AM.

It was getting closer to 10 and wait times were starting to creep up. I booked a DAS for BTMRR, which had a 45 minute wait and I knew was a bit harder to wait in line for.

On the way, we went to the Mansion. A was a little nervous for this one, which I thought was very funny. She had only done it one other time and considered skipping it, but I convinced her other wise. 😁

I was bummed that Splash was down for a refurb (because P had never ridden it!! 😮), but it was cool to see the work being done.

No pics of Big Thunder but we rode it (in the back, of course 😎) and then headed to Adventureland.

Where would we go next??? 🏴‍☠️

Following along, we will be there in a week. Can't wait but I also am worried about the COLD. But, I am bringing a warm hat, jacket & gloves. I also have a warm long sleeve undershirt that I bought at DS when we did a December trip.

Planning on the cold but hoping for warmer weather!!

Enjoying your report! I too love PP-I think it’s the nostalgia, I went with my parents, I took my son and I can’t wait to ride with my grandson! Keep posting those pictures, it looks like you are having so much fun!

Pirates it is! (After a quick restroom stop at the hidden bathrooms by pirates. We like these because they are never crowded and very clean!)

Apparently we used the DAS for this since we are going in the LL but I don’t remember booking it 😅

We did get very wet! We were in the very back row. It wasn’t the hill, but the cannonballs that got us. ☂

After Pirates we were hungry so we decided to get an early lunch: Pecos Bill! I mobile ordered and got my food very quickly. P & A used the normal line and it took them quite a while longer, even though their line was short. This was a theme on the trip.

Totally empty!

I got the chicken & rice bowl, and A & P both got nachos.

It was almost time for our JC LL that I booked way earlier at this point, so we headed there next. I thought like FP they would let us in a little early, but we had to wait until our time exactly. (Note the 80 minute wait! 😳)
