Trip Report "The Best Disney Trip EVER"

Hello, hello everyone!! A warm welcome to everyone reading--I'm so glad you're here!!

WHEN: Tuesday, November 5th - Tuesday, November 12th

WHERE: I think you know us well enough by now!!

WHO: I'm sure you know most of us(don't worry--I'm not going to confuse you all like I did in June;)). In case you don't though, there's me, my nephew J, & my sister E. Besides us usual 3 Musketeers, E's husband/J's dad/my BIL joined us for the fun!! To keep confusion to a minimum for this TR I will refer to him as JSR.
562449274.jpeg

You could also call us "The Red Family". When E asked J what color MB he wanted he said that he wanted red & that we should all get that color so we could be "The Red Family". I know you can't see E's but trust me, her's was red also.

Looking forward to reliving "The Best Disney Trip EVER" with you all!!

Tuesday, November 5th

The plan was to leave E & JSR's at 7:00. I went to work for 5:30 to get a few last minute things done--also so that I could say to my boss that I was only off for 7 days, not 8. He teases me that "vacations are 7 days not 8". After doing some work & him teasing me a bit I was off on my merry way!! I got to their house only to find out that JSR was still packing!!:jawdrop: E was not thrilled in the least. He must have been close to being done though b/c we were only delayed a few minutes.

Then came the next delay. It was Election Day and E & JSR wanted to due their civic duty. I sat in the car with J & we talked Disney while we waited.
IMG_3046.JPEG

And, in typical Pittsburgh fashion, it was raining.
IMG_3048.JPEG

Rush hour traffic + heavy rain = a slow commute to the airport. I don't know what it is with this town but it seems like no one can drive in the rain around here. Trust me, we get more than our fair share of it so you think people would be used to it.
IMG_3050.JPEG

As we were waiting to check our luggage in the woman behind us noticed our luggage tags & said that she was going to Disney also and was staying at Caribbean Beach. She asked if this was our first time going which prompted JSR to throw in a few digs about us & the frequency of our trips. I think he's just jealous ;)
IMG_3051.JPEG

The Southwest agent was slower than molasses but after 10 minutes or so it was our turn.
IMG_3052.JPEG

JSR made fun of me all week b/c of this. I had two suitcases. The small one weighed 20 lbs & this one was 36.5. He kept saying, "How did you manage to bring 56 lbs. of clothes?" As it turned out, due to his last minute packing there were quite a few things that he forgot so I told him at least I didn't have that problem. He also told me not to tell E about what he had forgot b/c he didn't want to hear her say "I told you so".
IMG_3053.JPEG

E went to park the car while the J's & I proceeded to security. But wait, I couldn't go just yet. For whatever reason the Southwest agent left one of the suitcases behind. After unsuccessfully trying to get his attention for about 5 minutes I finally interrupted him & asked him to please put it on the belt. I was getting nervous that it would somehow get forgotten. He looked at me with a surprised look on his face & said he didn't notice it there. Really??

On the "monorail" we go!!

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH

Just a few parting shots.
IMG_3958.JPEG

I'm glad we decided to explore the resort a bit. Again, it was a nice break from the crowds. We all enjoyed ourselves!! I'm still amazed at how big that place was!!
IMG_3960.JPEG

Now that I was a bit calmer(the Epcot memories had faded from my mind) & the fact that my beer had worn off I was quite nervous getting back on the skyliner.
IMG_3966.JPEG

You don't have to tell me twice--I'll be sure to get off the first chance I get!!
IMG_3967.JPEG

IMG_3970.JPEG

IMG_3971.JPEG

And as my luck would have it out of nowhere we hear, "Disney Skyliner Emergency". That was about it for me. R said I had a look of sheer terror on my face. Since I was so panicked I wasn't thinking straight & thought there was an emergency. All I could think of is having to be evacuated. Here, someone must have pushed the emergency button in their cabin & wasn't responding as to what their issue was b/c the voice kept repeating itself. Whew!!
IMG_3973.JPEG

We also got stopped for about 30 seconds at one point(naturally at one of the highest points) & that didn't sit well with me either. I kept my eyes closed & focused on my breathing(I've been taking yoga classes).
IMG_3974.JPEG

You can see E's hair blowing around a bit. I thought the temperature was quite comfortable but I'm sure it would be warm in the dead of summer.
IMG_3975.JPEG

I think R was trying to keep my mind occupied as he kept making fun of me!! I was ready to knock him out!!

Back on land we contemplated what to do next. We had a few hours before our dinner reservation. We were in agreement that none of us wanted to go back to Epcot so we hopped on a Friendship Boat.
IMG_3980.JPEG

J marched right up to the front of the boat while E, JSR & R took seats in the back so I went up front with J & Fago.
IMG_3982.JPEG

Yacht Club here we come!!
IMG_3984.JPEG

We decided to take silly photos. J called the shots of what kind of faces we should make. Some of them are a bit scary....you've been warned!!
IMG_3985.JPEG

IMG_3986.JPEG

IMG_3987.JPEG

IMG_3988.JPEG

This one actually terrifies me!!
IMG_3989.JPEG

A few "normal" ones.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH

We had some time before our reservation but we figured we would get a drink & hang out for a bit. E was complaining b/c it was another day of carrying around the popcorn bucket for no reason at all since we never got it filled:oops:
IMG_3992.JPEG

We noticed a lot of people there for a wedding.
IMG_3993.JPEG

IMG_3994.JPEG

Some of them were walking in front of us. I know, we're going to sound mean again but we were hysterically laughing b/c the heel was broke on one of that woman's shoes. Of course my payback for laughing was chest pain. I guess I deserved it. What is it about finding the stupidest things funny?
IMG_3995.JPEG

We looked around the store for a bit.
IMG_3996.JPEG

IMG_3999.JPEG

We decided a drink was in order.
IMG_4004.JPEG

I had never been there. I thought the setup was a bit odd. I did like the actual bar part but it was small.
IMG_4005.JPEG

IMG_4006.JPEG

R went with a Captain & Coke(not to be confused with a Dr. Pepper @Loco_driver). E & I got the Seaworthy Breeze. It was excellent!! $7.40 in savings!!

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH

My drink was very refreshing.
IMG_4009.JPEG

No, we weren't letting J in the garden. He was walking along the edge. I could see that he was bored.
IMG_4010.JPEG

Here comes the bride.
IMG_4011.JPEG

J was definitely bored & it looked like everyone was content just sitting there to relax(with their shoes on!!) so I asked him if he wanted to go to the arcade.
IMG_4013.JPEG

He was surprised at how small this arcade was compared to Riverside's. Very observant for a 4 year old.
IMG_4015.JPEG

We had the place to ourselves.
IMG_4018.JPEG

He loves to play skee ball.
IMG_4019.JPEG

He & I played a few games of air hockey. It was a lot of fun!!
IMG_4022.JPEG

He's very competitive!!
IMG_4023.JPEG

He played this game for quite some time. The screen was starting to make me dizzy.

We got a pressed penny as we were leaving the arcade.
IMG_4026.JPEG

IMG_4027.JPEG

We came back to find everyone sleeping(with their shoes on)!!
IMG_4028.JPEG

I went to find a bathroom so I could change for dinner.
IMG_4029.JPEG

I took this picture to send to my boss. I prefer Oreck vacuum cleaners(b/c they're so light) & he prefers Dysons. We bicker about it quite often. Maybe Dyson does make a superior product??🤔

JSR was the only one in our group that hadn't ate at Yachtsman before. We raved about it to him. Sadly it was nowhere near as good as the last time we were here.
IMG_4002.JPEG

IMG_4031.JPEG

IMG_4032.JPEG

The rolls were AMAZING as usual. We ate so many that our waitress brought out a 2nd basket. Big mistake...
IMG_4034.JPEG

I had a glass of pinto grigio. R had some sort of margarita.
IMG_4035.JPEG

J somehow had 2 drinks. Poor kid got the paper straws:hungover:
IMG_4036.JPEG

We started out with the cheese board. It was very good.
IMG_4037.JPEG

IMG_4038.JPEG

With the exception of R we all got the filet.
IMG_4039.JPEG

J had salmon & mashed potatoes.

I’ve just arrived - on page 15!
Gosh a lot happens on this site when you don’t check in for a while.......

I hope you are recovering from your injury

I missed Riverside this year, love the photos, it’s still as beautiful as ever.
I was sad I couldn’t get there (as we could have met) but it seems to be getting busier in November now so we might try to find another time to go (or maybe not?) - I know there isn’t a quiet time but those crowds in Epcot would have freaked me out.

You certainly did great in your aunt duties.

So many other things I was going to comment on but I’ve been sat here ages reading so I have to go and get some jobs done.

September still seems pretty low crowd. We've gone twice now and both trips the only real crowd we saw was this year during the Halloween party. It's markedly hotter though.

Even though we were underwhelmed by the truffle mac & cheese the last time we decided to give it a shot again. It wasn't good at all. We decided that we would probably never get it again. The mushrooms were a huge hit with us the last time. I don't know what happened that day but they weren't good. We were very disappointed.
IMG_4043.JPEG

R got the New York Strip.
IMG_4044.JPEG

It's beyond me but to each their own--he likes his steaks well done. This is what he got:oops: He was not happy but he's one of those who's afraid to send something back.
IMG_4046.JPEG

I had a surprise for dessert. R's birthday was a few weeks before the trip. JSR(when he kept asking R if he was coming down to surprise him)knows how much he likes Yachtsman so he had said we could celebrate his birthday there. The actual weekend of R's birthday we had a family event that we have every year on that weekend. I normally bring a cake for his birthday. This year I didn't!! And trust me, I didn't hear the end of it. In my defense there were certain things that my mom always baked for this so I opted to do that to keep with tradition. I know I've mentioned in past TR's that cooking/baking are not up my alley in the least so I was very much consumed with doing those things right that I forgot all about his cake. I decided I would rectify the situation by ordering a cake ahead of time & we would have it for dessert.
IMG_4048.JPEG

He was quite surprised!!
IMG_4049.JPEG

J was excited!! During dinner I whispered to him that I had a surprise cake coming.
IMG_4050.JPEG

He seemed excited that I would share that info with him!!
IMG_4053.JPEG

Here he was proud that he had kept it a secret!!
IMG_4054.JPEG

The cake was good but very rich. Our waitress gave us the rest to take with us. I had no clue what we were going to do with it. There was so much. Also, it was only $35. I thought that was a pretty good price(for Disney, that is).
IMG_4056.JPEG

Again, I was quite excited with our savings!!

I am team pop all the way lol
Yay!!👏👏👏
We get the popcorn bucket every trip, and it's such a hassle. But the popcorn is so delicious. Honestly I'm going to miss the stroller on our next trip because now I'll have to actually carry the popcorn bucket.
I'm not sure if E is bringing the stroller on the next trip. I'm hoping she is b/c I do want to get a bucket more than anything to tease her but if there's no stroller I know I'll definitely be stuck carrying it!!

SOOOO glad you're here!!

I feel much, much better thank you!!

It was pretty busy. I'm sure Veteran's Day Weekend had something to do with that. The crowds in Epcot were so overwhelming. Just walking around was almost a chore.

Thanks--it's easy when I have such a great nephew!!
Funny enough, we never get drinks like that mixed up. If alcohol is involved, Coke is just Coke!🤣
🤣🤣🤣

The thoughts of walking back through Epcot to get a bus were not appealing in the least. Minnie Van for the win!!
IMG_4058.PNG

We sat in the lobby of the Yacht Club while we waited. I noticed the hidden Mickeys in the carpet.
IMG_4060.JPEG

Someone was a bit tired!!
IMG_4061.JPEG

IMG_4062.JPEG

I was noticing how big the tires were.
IMG_4063.JPEG

When we got back we walked through Fulton's. J was eyeing all the treats.
IMG_4064.JPEG

IMG_4065.JPEG

We stopped in the arcade for a bit.
IMG_4066.JPEG

J was back to playing this game again.
IMG_4067.JPEG

I don't have any pictures but we watched some of Bob's show. JSR & E took J back to put him to bed. R went to wander around the resort. I stayed at The River Roost for a bit by myself until E came back. I ended up giving one of the waiters the rest of the cake b/c I knew there was no way we would eat it. I would have felt funny handing over a half eaten cake but being a frequent visitor to The River Roost we know some of the waiters so I didn't feel odd doing that.

Still can't believe they don't have pinot grigio there!

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH

R & I were up early to pack. He wasn't the only one leaving that day--so were the rest of us!! The difference was that he was leaving to go home & we(shocker-I know) were leaving Riverside to go to a different resort!!:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: Who were we???

I knew there was no way I would be able to drink all the bottles of water that I still had plus I had some fruit in the refrigerator that I knew wouldn't hold up during the luggage transfer so I took @Rista1313's advice & took it to the laundry room. There was a dryer running when I went in there so hopefully that person came back soon & was able to take advantage of what I left there.
IMG_4070.JPEG

I'm not going to lie, my heart was breaking a bit. I still had a few more nights & I should have been excited about staying somewhere new but leaving Riverside almost made me feel like my vacation was over.
IMG_4071.JPEG

I dropped both of our suitcases off to be transferred. R had me bring his suitcase down with me b/c he was coming right from work & that would be one less hassle for him. And all along my BIL thought I had two!! He wanted me to take his back with me so he could skip baggage b/c his flight wasn't due to land until 9:30 that night & he had to get up early for work the next day.
IMG_4072.JPEG

I've heard horror stories if you don't physically check out when you're transferring to a different resort so I made sure to do that. The CM seemed a bit annoyed & told me it wasn't necessary. I said I felt better doing it this way & her response was, "Fine, you're all checked out".
Ok, then.
IMG_4073.JPEG

IMG_4074.JPEG

Since we were near the South Depot we figured we would get a bus there. E, JSR & J were going to meet us at the park.
IMG_4075.PNG

A HS bus was there within a few minutes. Thank goodness. It was a train wreck there.
IMG_4076.JPEG

This was the line for MK & this is not even half of it. There was only 2 other people waiting for a HS bus!!
