Trip Report "The Best Disney Trip EVER"

Hello, hello everyone!! A warm welcome to everyone reading--I'm so glad you're here!!

WHEN: Tuesday, November 5th - Tuesday, November 12th

WHERE: I think you know us well enough by now!!

WHO: I'm sure you know most of us(don't worry--I'm not going to confuse you all like I did in June;)). In case you don't though, there's me, my nephew J, & my sister E. Besides us usual 3 Musketeers, E's husband/J's dad/my BIL joined us for the fun!! To keep confusion to a minimum for this TR I will refer to him as JSR.

You could also call us "The Red Family". When E asked J what color MB he wanted he said that he wanted red & that we should all get that color so we could be "The Red Family". I know you can't see E's but trust me, her's was red also.

Looking forward to reliving "The Best Disney Trip EVER" with you all!!

Tuesday, November 5th

The plan was to leave E & JSR's at 7:00. I went to work for 5:30 to get a few last minute things done--also so that I could say to my boss that I was only off for 7 days, not 8. He teases me that "vacations are 7 days not 8". After doing some work & him teasing me a bit I was off on my merry way!! I got to their house only to find out that JSR was still packing!!:jawdrop: E was not thrilled in the least. He must have been close to being done though b/c we were only delayed a few minutes.

Then came the next delay. It was Election Day and E & JSR wanted to due their civic duty. I sat in the car with J & we talked Disney while we waited.

And, in typical Pittsburgh fashion, it was raining.

Rush hour traffic + heavy rain = a slow commute to the airport. I don't know what it is with this town but it seems like no one can drive in the rain around here. Trust me, we get more than our fair share of it so you think people would be used to it.

As we were waiting to check our luggage in the woman behind us noticed our luggage tags & said that she was going to Disney also and was staying at Caribbean Beach. She asked if this was our first time going which prompted JSR to throw in a few digs about us & the frequency of our trips. I think he's just jealous ;)

The Southwest agent was slower than molasses but after 10 minutes or so it was our turn.

JSR made fun of me all week b/c of this. I had two suitcases. The small one weighed 20 lbs & this one was 36.5. He kept saying, "How did you manage to bring 56 lbs. of clothes?" As it turned out, due to his last minute packing there were quite a few things that he forgot so I told him at least I didn't have that problem. He also told me not to tell E about what he had forgot b/c he didn't want to hear her say "I told you so".
IMG_3053.JPEG

E went to park the car while the J's & I proceeded to security. But wait, I couldn't go just yet. For whatever reason the Southwest agent left one of the suitcases behind. After unsuccessfully trying to get his attention for about 5 minutes I finally interrupted him & asked him to please put it on the belt. I was getting nervous that it would somehow get forgotten. He looked at me with a surprised look on his face & said he didn't notice it there. Really??

On the "monorail" we go!!

Don't I know it. We buy it by the truckload direct from them. I'm used to sending that check to Detroit, Michigan!!

I'm really not a pop drinker so I don't believe I've ever tried any of the flavors. Is Rock and Rye similar to Pepsi/Coke?

No.... they do have a cola flavor, but I don't think I've ever tried it. There is sort of a mystery around what Rock and Rye actually is... here's my best guess and what others say as well. It's a mix of their Cola, Red pop, and cream soda.

Faygo is from Michigan.... and my favorite is Rock and Rye!

A second vote for Rock and Rye! (Although Red pop is close runner up)

I highly recommend a Rock and Rye and rye (whiskey). 🥃

@Rista1313 ’s description sounds about right. It’s cola based but with some mysterious fruity and creamy flavors.

I couldn't help but notice the hair on these women. How long would it take to wash that??
Wow! I can't even imagine how time consuming that hair could be, and the liters of shampoo and conditioner it would take to maintain it!
I took a couple of inches off a week ago, and now I'm wishing I'd cut it shorter! 😄

I like the things you notice, my fellow "Noticer of Odd and Random Things" :geek:

Since we were outside J was able to run around which I'm sure was nice for him.
I went to take this picture & he jumped in it at the last second then said to me, "Did I ruin your picture?":cautious: He thought it was pretty funny & I could tell he was proud of himself!

And he should be! :p That kid cracks me up! :hilarious:

We all enjoyed our meals & I would definitely go back but this seriously was the highlight of our dinner!!

OMG ... hilarious! I don't think it would have even been half as funny, were he not wearing the Mickey ears on his head! :D Truly, you see all types of people at WDW!

You are so observant! All I noticed was that they get a toothbrush and mouthwash!
I’m betting those amenities are just “for show.” I have never seen a Disney toothbrush as a standard amenity, even at the club level. The mouthwash has always been in our Deluxe rooms (and possibly at Gran Destino, can’t remember for sure.) I have spoken to two different resort duty managers over the last year who have confirmed the cutting back of soaps, lotion, etc. and replenishments are no longer left daily (as they used to be.)

And you know what kills me about that cutting back? (And you know I'm a yeah Disney kind of gal), is those soaps, little note pads, pens, etc., when bought in bulk cost them very little compared to the price of those rooms! Seriously?!
And I will stop my rant now so as not to derail Riversides spectacular TR!

I agree red pop is my second fave too
Love Red Pop!
Another Michigander here! I agree with @Rista1313 's description of Rock and Rye. It's definitely my favorite with Red Pop as a close second. There's a 7-11 near our house that sometimes has one or the other as a Slurpee flavor and it's soooo good!
Oooo Rock and Rye slurpee would be amazing! Sadly all our 7-11's closed here in GR.
After all this Faygo discussion(& even though I don't drink pop) I am going to attempt to try it.
I'm going to start out slow--Red pop first. Only b/c I totally despise Pepsi/Cola.
Once I've mastered the Red I'll ease into the Rock and Rye.
If I can't manage that(b/c of the cola flavor) I'll take @Back!Elbow!Shoulders! recommendation & add the good stuff to it!!

I'll be sure to share my thoughts with you all!! Also, the next time I talk to our rep from Faygo I'll see if I can get him to tell me what is in the Rock and Rye!!
Caught up and enjoying your report. J has the cutest expressions, and a lot of patience for a four year old.
Thank you so much & I'm glad you're here!! I have to agree with you about J, both about his expressions & patience! Thank you!!
Ewwww the mouthwash had been used.....
I didn't notice that but I must say I can't blame whoever used it(& no it absolutely wasn't me!). I've tried the Disney mouthwash & I was pleasantly surprised. It's not bad at all!! And there definitely isn't alcohol in it which I like. I can't keep mouthwash(that has alcohol in it) in my mouth for more than 15 seconds b/c it burns too much.
The Cabins are Copper Creek but closer to the Boulder Ridge Villas :hilarious: So...no wonder any confusion
Thank you!! I knew I could count on you!!

Exactly!! You sound like me. Every time I get mine cut I wish it was shorter. That way I don't have to go as frequently!!

"Noticer of Odd and Random Things"--I love it!! :hilarious: I see a ton of odd things at my job so maybe I'm just good at noticing it!! Anyhow, it makes for some interesting trip reporting!!
One of the best things about DisneyWorld is the ability to people-watch. I always look around when I'm in line or at a restaurant. I wouldn't have been able to stop staring at the photo-man, either. Especially because he was SO into it!
I love to people watch!!
I think that is why we found it so funny--b/c he was that into it!! All I kept thinking was, "Dude, you're paying good money for this food. Eat it before it gets cold!!"
Are those toothbrushes and mouthwash?! You must have to stay in the muuucch higher point rooms to get those! 🤣
Can't even get a 10 cent pen and paper anymore!
Don't even get me started on the lack of paper & pen. That's just plain ridiculous!! There have been times where mousekeeping hasn't taken their tip b/c(I assume) it was sitting on the table with no note. Since then I always leave a note with it so they know it's for them & to say "thank you". Now I can't do that unless I'd be willing to rip pages out of my Haunted Mansion TR journal & I'm not willing to do that!!
You are so observant! All I noticed was that they get a toothbrush and mouthwash!
Tuvalu, ONLY you would have picked up on that! :hilarious:
🤣🤣🤣
And he should be! :p That kid cracks me up! :hilarious:
He is pretty funny!!

I agree with you!! To each their own but I must admit I was laughing about that too!!
I'm guessing Faygo is a regional thing, cuz it's definitely not available around here!
Yes, it is regional--& pretty popular in the city where I work.
I’m betting those amenities are just “for show.” I have never seen a Disney toothbrush as a standard amenity, even at the club level. I was surprised to see the lotion this time around(since there wasn't any in August) & that they put a second one out the next day. That's where it ended though.....
And you know what kills me about that cutting back? (And you know I'm a yeah Disney kind of gal), is those soaps, little note pads, pens, etc., when bought in bulk cost them very little compared to the price of those rooms! Seriously?!

Not derailing at all!! I totally agree with you esp. b/c the price of the rooms keeps going up & up....
Late to the party but I just caught up. Sounds like a great trip so far!
Glad you're here!! Yes it was great & continued to be!!
