Yep, if you are new and then relay an experience you had that a few others may not have experienced themselves...you can bet the storm is a comin'. Like a pack of rabid dogs.:veryconfu

The OP didn't relay a personal experience, but also an untruth - you can insert park tickets any way and they'll be read.

I've had an issue where I try and wash my hands in the automatic sinks that they have and nothing comes out and then I have to move to another sink. The worst is when the automatic flusher goes off before I'm done. Should this be a new thread?

The OP may have been mistaken about the way the cards CAN be inserted...but that doesn't mean that he wasn't at the FP machine when it wouldn't take his card a certain way.

Haven't you ever been at the front gate and the card doesn't read the first time? What does the CM at the gate do? He/she takes the card out and tries it a different direction (whether turning it upside down or just flipping it around). Maybe this was the case with the OP and the FastPass machine.

Uh yeah....

You can actually put your ticket in however you want and it works.

Also, the little plastic tray bit means it never flies out and often times you have to help it out in fact.

Jeez. What an absurd topic.

I disagree. I have watched numerous FP hitting the ground. The plastic tray doesn't always stop them. In addition for tall people it's too low to the ground.

I also disagree that you can put the pass in anyway you want. Maybe I'm mixing my Disneyland experience with WDW, but flipping the card over made it work while attempts to make it work otherwise did not. I've even helped people who were trying to get a FP by telling them to turn the card the other way. Bingo, they got a FP.

FP v1 had only single direction readers on the machines. However, as the system became more widespread, the machines were upgraded in phases to have multi directional readers. :)

Yup.. I didn't read the rules. I use the same signature on every other website. Fixed.

Correct. There is truth in what he is saying. The old Fastpass Machines had to have the ticket inserted upside-down with the black stripe on the right.

They also have introduced new trays over time too. The old ones made it alot easier for Fastpasses to fall out. The new ones are a bit longer and have a longer fingerhole (as bad as that sounds).

We work in tandem. I, the designated 'Ticket Feeder', must push through our groups tickets as fast as humanly possible. Meanwhile, another person in our group becomes the 'FP Taker', and is only responsible for catching each FP.
We have a group of 4 or 5, so it's not really that difficult, but we find it's better than having all of us wait individually.

I see where we all got off on the wrong foot, he was talking about DL FP machines, but didn't mention that. Apologies in if I sounded harsh, I just wanted to understand the OP better. :)

I should have mentioned Disneyland. That was the last park I had been to and witnessed all these Fast Pass problems. Frankly I can't remember the WDW machines because it's been almost a year since I've been there but I thought they were all the same. I guess not.

That might be funnier than watching the people run after their fallen fastpass.
The image in my mind is Lucy and Ethel lined up trying to stop all those candies from going off the conveyer belt.

I wasn't meaning to single you out...I've seen it happen in more than a few threads as of late. This use to be a fun, friendly place to come...if I were coming to the site for the first time...I'd never post. I was more talking about the people above your post making a mockery of the OP for starting such a thread.

First off.. an OP is "original poster" or "original post" as in the first post/person on the thread.

Second, I've had very few problems with run-away FP's, but I have had a broken machine think it gave me a FP when it didn't give me anything, followed by a working machine telling me I already had a FP. That was sad, but a nearby CM just stuck me in the FP line with a note and we walked right on Soarin :) (They did this because we literally would of gotten the final FP period for the day and by the time it was solved, the system was out for the day)

Anyways - the trueculprit! Automated Box Office machines at theaters. Those are way too low to the ground for anyone and don't have an immediate response (so you can predict the ticket coming). They just spit out tickets from a slot, which is just a blakc indent so it's hard to see before your ticket flies out of it because it has no guard to even attempt to catch it.

And it's not just the ticket, it prints out point reward thingies and a receipt so you're chasing like 5 pieces of paper around. It's ridiculous.

Yeah and I must say I just can't stand it when I discover a stray piece of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of my shoe. That really is a problem.
