From the NY Times:

“The Amazing Race” will replace “Viva Laughlin” in the Sunday at 8 p.m. time slot beginning Nov. 4. (A “CSI” repeat will be broadcast this Sunday.) The Hollywood Reporter calls “Viva Laughlin” the “first major casualty of the 2007-08 season.”

Good News

Excellent!! I knew The Amazing Race was slated as a midseason replacement, but I didn't expect to see it until January. Thanks for the news, artvandelay!

Roadblocks! Clues! Phil! Bickering couples! Detours (which, of course, are a choice between two tasks, each with their own pros and cons)!

Don't forget yields and fast-forwards and. . .

The last couple to arrive at the Pit Stop may be eliminated.

Yay!
I can't wait!

Woo hoo, this is great news. I just wish it wasn't going to be on Sundays. The start time is always different because of football in the afternoon. Anyone out there know or ever met any past racers? Anyone ever sent in an audition tape?

... travel safely ... GO!

I love the episodes with animals. Without fail, one or two teams get an ornery beast, and it drives them crazy.

Hard to keep track of all of the dating couples. Other than the Goths, they all look the same to me.

Early favorites: Kid Pilot-Grandpa and Brother-Sister engineer.

Glad to see the first pair go. They would have been tough to watch. The goth couple had to put goth into almost every sentence. They're like smurfs.

Early favorites: Brother-Sister engineers and the dating hippies.

Actually this season, they WILL be eliminated. They have shortened the season and there will be no non-elimination legs this time.
There are non elimination legs this year..He said so at the beginning tonight.

I Love the Brother-sister from New Orleans..
I also like the hippies..

Seems like it will be a great season..:)

Jonathan Littman, executive producer for The Amazing Race, said that this season will reduce the number of episodes by 2 and drop non-elimination legs "to create more excitement." However, in the premiere episode, host Phil Keoghan gave the introductory terms of eleven Pit Stops, eight of which would serve as elimination points. It is not known at this time if the other three pit stops will be different from previous seasons in any way.

Agreed, Nemo14. I'm afraid Dad is one of the most annoying racers this year (Daughter, on the other hand, seems to have the patience of a saint).

I loved watching one of the generic dating couples ride their bike with basket right past where Phil was standing. Didn't even notice him.

The dating goths kind of remind me of Adam & Rebecca from a few years ago. Adam was the geek who liked to wear his hair with fake devil horns (I called him "Heckboy" during that season). Anyway, Vixen appears to be as tough/capable as Rebecca, and Kynt appears to be as big a wimp as Adam. On the plus side for Kynt, he's at least aware of his wimpitude.

The brother and sister engineer team still rock.

Grandpa stripping down to his undies? Hysterical and frightening at the same time. I loved the kid's reaction: "I have no comment".

Totally agree - I love the brother-sister engineers. There seem to be lot more annoying people this season though don't you think?
