I like it! I only have a couple of small complaints. I personally miss the ice crystals. The wrecked bobsleds and skyway cars are cool but I think the ice crystals were cooler. Also, the only thing I flat out don't like is the new roar. The old roar was so much better and scarier sounding. The new roar just sounds like a guy going "rrroooooaaaar" with his voice deepened. They could've been more creative than that. Other than those things, I think this is a great refurb.

Isn't the old roar mixed in with the new one?

I think that Harold (can we still call him Harold) should let out a little meow, it would be funny and not scare little kids.

Are people really that bummed about losing a few fake lookin' ice crystals that look like leftover props from the original Superman movie in exchange for a cool set piece of old ride vehicles? I think this looks way better!

It's less about the loss of the ice crystals as it is the trash heap that replaced them. It's meta and self-referential - which is the antithesis of good thematic design. Is it the worst thing in the world? No (NOS changes are worse) - but it's just another thing on the list of changes that take Disneyland away from being what it is and turning it into an ouroboros self-aggrandizing museum.

Yeah, but on that same token, the only reason you're bummed about losing the crystals is because of nostalgia anyways... It's not like some phony looking crystals made the Matterhorn extra immersive. So what's the difference?

No, I have no problem with losing the crystals - no nostalgia-driven sadness. I only have a problem with the replacement.

I like the new effects, but at the same time they seem out of place, somehow. Like, despite alterations prior to this, Matterhorn still felt vintage?

The new junk scene is really terrible. It's just a bizarre confusing melange of meta junk that you breeze by, with no dramatic impact. At least the ice crystals made sense and it sounded really cool in there. This is just kind of stupid.

The last piece of decor has been unveiled and the castle overlay is now complete!
