Trip Report The 6 Parks, 4 Days, 26th Birthday Extravaganza- COMPLETED

Hello everyone! I’ve been back from Orlando for one week now, so I figured I might as well get this started (I miss it so much).

This is just the entry post, I’ll begin telling the tales of adventure later

Something I have learned on this site from reading various trip reports, is that our significant others are totally open game for teasing.
Now, I’ve taken out some of the texts because I was a little buzzed and said some very personal things, so here is the clean & censored highlight reel of ‘How I accidentally confused the heck out of the Han Solo in my life’.
As we waited in line for Soarin’, our minds were all thinking of food and drinks over in the World Showcase. I was letting Han live vicariously through me, and let him know that after we went on Soarin’, we were going to Mexico. I am 95% positive that I had told him about the World Showcase before I left. Really pretty positive about that.
How did he respond?

(Whoops, just realized I flipped Soarin and Living with the Land in my head)

Soarin’, after riding Flight of Passage, just doesn’t have the same wow factor. It could also be because it’s a new film and the original was pretty dang special, I don’t know.

Alright, back to telling Han I was going to Mexico.

Anyways. He was confused.
Erin decided that since she lived in Texas, there was no need to visit Mexico, so she went forward. Katie, Josh and I however, checked out the new margarita place that I’d been reading so much about on the boards (soooo many construction updates).
First alcoholic drink of the day:

It was pretty cool and refreshing!
And these were delicious as well

Because she was traveling ahead, Erin missed out on the nice air conditioned boat ride in Mexico, Gran Fiesta!

You would think that a) arriving in Mexico like in 20 minutes and b) getting on a Disney themed boat ride would set off some alarms, no?

My poor confused man.

Up next- more alcohol in Mexico! (Did we tackle this poorly? Possibly)

Katie and I decided to share a flight of tequila together, as you do.

As you can see, Han was still under the impression that I was literally in Mexico (more on that in a bit)

Then it was off to Norway!
“Land of gnomes! And trolls!”- Name that musical

Say it with me- “that poor confused man”.

Katie and Josh were smart and got some other type of alcoholic beverage. I’m not a big beer person, and thought I could totally handle aquavit.

This thing was lightly sipped throughout our sweet carb break. Would not recommend.

Alright, so apparently telling Han that I was in Norway was the massive clue that I never travelled to Mexico. He never mentioned his confusion throughout the day, so I had to ask him when I got home what he was thinking.

He got confused and meant Cuba the whole time.

Anywho, back to Norway. Erin and Katie decided to go through some of the shops, and Josh & I watched some of this Norwegian holiday story:

In need of more refreshment, we walked to China:

I chose to break up my booze filled day with a tea and some egg rolls.

Next up, Germany, and our first Holiday festival food!

Fondue and a flight of cider

While in Germany, I picked up a boot shaped shot glass for Han, which he absolutely loves (he really wants to travel to Germany some day).

Something we should have kept- our late evening reservation for Le Celier. We switched it for an earlier one because we wanted to watch Illuminations. Unfortunately for us, we spent all afternoon eating (dumb dumb dumb)

Katie & Josh went back to the hotel to rest up, which left me and Erin in the park to explore (and get some pastries in France).

We passed this pretty display in England:

I was pretty proud about this, but I ordered everything for me and Erin in French.

Erin left for the hotel, so that meant it was just me again, getting some solo time around Epcot.

Matt Bomer was the narrator for Candlelight, so I had to check that out for a couple of minutes:

All of my Italian went out the window when I ordered this prosecco from the holiday vendor:

I checked the wait time for Frozen, and decided that it was now or never for riding it.

My nose decided that it was going to get her runny, very quickly, and I was left sniffling in line behind a very judgemental teenager.

The ride was neat though. The Olaf AAs were incredible, but I still missed Maelstrom.

One more quick loop around the WS.

Now, I was planning on stayin for Illuminations and the extra two hours of the park. Katie and Josh were just arriving for that. However, I was crashing. Fast. I knew I needed to get back to the hotel and pack too, so I reluctantly left the park just as Illuminations was beginning.

Alright, no pictures of this last part, because I was a hot, sick, mess.

Magical Express picked me up at 5:30 for an 8:30 flight (it picked Erin up at 4:30, and I never really got to go back asleep). This was insane, because there was no one at the airport at this time. Completely unnecessary. On the flight back, I could feel myself feeling more and more sick, and my ear popped and I honestly have never had an earache that painful before.

I made it back to Detroit and drove back to Ohio to work for the afternoon. Another mistake, because I was a hot, sick mess. Got to spend some time with Han that evening even though I was at like 35% energy levels. Went to bed, and hoped for the best. While I ended up working most of the next day, I left early and was sick the next day too.

So what did I learn from this trip- rest is very important. You can’t just go at 110% all the time and expect your body to be okay with it.

What’s next for Disney plans? Katie & Josh are planning an anniversary trip to Disneyland, and I will be going back to WDW in 62 days for a friend’s wedding!
