the 3 absoutely IS the magic number trip report

So that's it, vacation is over. All the planning and dreaming and living and enjoying - done! Now what? Well, in an attempt to relive the BEST TRIP ever. I will retell it to all of you in every Disney detail that only we can appreciate because frankly, I don't think anyone else wants to hear it again. And while WE can look at thousands of pics of "the World" and enjoy each and every one, I don't know how many I can share in the "real world" without completely overwhelming people. So, it is with that thought, sitting on my couch sniffing a bar H20+ blushing orange soap, that I start this trip report.

I asked them to build this for me when we got home, but they haven't started on it yet :p

IMG_6141.JPG

I was happy to see that they had new displays from the ones we had seen last time,
IMG_6143.JPG

but I was also happy that the sea serpent was still there too!

a quick look around T-Rex

I have researched everything WDW. I feel like I have a pretty good working knowledge of all that goes on, as I'm sure all of you do as well. The idea for this day was just sort of an easy morning/afternoon, head over to Magic Kingdom for dinner at Chrystal Palace then watch Wishes go on some rides - no big plan.
So when Connor asked if we could check out Disney Quest, I said sure! Yea - this wouldn't go well
Disney Quest is the one thing I have never looked into. I knew it was there, I knew it had video games but I really didn't know much more than that (which in retrospect is a little silly since I have 2 boys that like video games). I was under the impression that it was your typical pay to play arcade (ok a Disney version, so better than average, but still) - you bought some sort of card that you could load with money & play until your money ran out or you reloaded the thing. For anyone that doesn't know, this is not the case. You pay 1 fee to get in and can play as much as you want. The only issue is that it is about $40 a person and everyone needs to pay to get in regardless if they want to play or not. I'm sure it's worth every penny, the games look great! But, not the kind of thing we could have done on a whim, just to kill an hour or two. It would have wiped out all the money I had budgeted for that day! So as we stood outside of what I'm sure looked to them to be the most awesome arcade in the universe, I had to tell them we couldn't go in. I explained that I was very sorry and next trip we would set aside a day without park tickets and we would go. But they are 5 & 7 and although they were really good about it, you could see in their little faces that they were disappointed (and I really couldn't blame them).
Luckily we were in the happiest place on earth, so there was still plenty to do!
After doing the Platypus Walk at Phineas & Ferb and you...
IMG_6156.JPG

IMG_6162.JPG

we took the bus over to the Swan and after a quick walk...
IMG_6179.JPG

We played miniature golf at Fantasia Gardens!

Let's just say I would be very surprised if either one of them turned out to be a professional golfer! But we had a lot of fun!

After golf we headed back to the Swan to catch the bus to Magic Kingdom.
IMG_6183.JPG

We enjoyed the view as we waited for our table at the Crystal Palace
IMG_6233.JPG

Not long after we were seated & ready to see Pooh & friends!
IMG_6235.JPG

My only complaint, was that they came VERY fast one right after the other and we barely had time to flip to a new page in the autograph book. I felt very rushed. Luckily, they made a second pass and we were able to "visit" a little longer the 2nd time.
IMG_6239.JPG

Piglet is so cute!
IMG_6258.JPG

IMG_6260.JPG

(see Piglet is hardly at the next table and already we're taking a photo with Eeyore!)

IMG_6263.JPG

After dinner we were nice and full and not really in a rush to run anywhere so we camped out & waited for Wishes
IMG_6269.JPG

IMG_6276.JPG

Wishes was so beautiful and I got very overwhelmed by how wonderful this vacation had been and how my wish had come true in having my boys and being able to selfishly have this time with them all to myself. I'm not ashamed to admit it, I cried - like a baby

IMG_6320.JPG

IMG_6322.JPG

IMG_6350.JPG

We had promised Pooh we would go on his ride after dinner, so that was out next stop
IMG_6386.JPG

Then over to Pete's Silly Side Show to see everyone...
The boys told Goofy that his ride was their favorite!
IMG_6408.JPG

It wasn't very crowded so Donald joked around with them for a bit...
IMG_6417.JPG

I was surprised they usually don't want to see the "girls" but that night they were into it!

I am enjoying your report so much! In a little less than 2 weeks I will be there with my 4 year old son and I just can't wait to make some special memories with him like you did with your boys!

After stoping for a quick snack...
IMG_6435.JPG

we went on Goofini (5 times!)
IMG_6455.JPG

and Dumbo
IMG_6459.JPG

Appearently, I was testing the boys ability to keep food down because then we took a spin on the Tea Cups
IMG_6470.JPG

As we walked past New Fantasyland we sort of lingered at the rope, trying to get a little peek of what was happening in there. It was still under dress rehersal and you needed a wrist band to get in (which we did not have). As we were enjoying the distant sneek peek, a cast member came up to me and asked if we'd like to go in. Is that even a question? I think I told him I loved him! and in we went!

We were able to get a look inside Be our Guest
IMG_6473.JPG

I love the suits of armor! They talk and sneeze!
IMG_6475.JPG

IMG_6484.JPG

IMG_6485.JPG

Then over to Gaston's for a Le Fou's Brew
IMG_6487.JPG

a little strange, but really good!
IMG_6496.JPG

Yup, that's antlers in all of your decorating alright!
IMG_6498.JPG

Then over to Journey of the Little Mermaid - I have to agree with others I have heard discuss this ride, the queue is almost the best part!
IMG_6508.JPG

After, a little meet & greet with the mermaid herself. She was SO cute! She & Connor had a very long discussion about what 7 year old boys did on land!
IMG_6530.JPG

IMG_6531.JPG

after he said, Mom - she is so pretty & so nice in real life!

Next to Enchanted Tales with Belle
...and guess who was picked to be Chip?
IMG_6547.JPG

Finn is still very proud of his acting debut & will do his "Chip hop" for anyone that asks

but to make it even better, look who else was picked to be in the show as well...
as the BEAST!
IMG_6545.JPG

both of them in the show! I told you this was a special trip!
IMG_6556.JPG

His roar was so cute!
IMG_6560.JPG

and up hopped Chip (by this point I was all teared up!)
IMG_6564.JPG

After the little parade around the room the Beast gets to waltz with Belle
IMG_6573.JPG

more tears!
IMG_6574.JPG

a little photo to remember the moment, although somehow I think they would have no problem remembering this even without the picture!
IMG_6580.JPG

and where, you ask, does this group find themselves at midnight?
- riding Small World, of course!
IMG_6589.JPG

I love when we are there on the hour and get to see the clock do it's thing!

a few more pictures of the castle...
Have I mentioned how awe struck I was with it all decorated for Christmas?
IMG_6593.JPG

IMG_6595.JPG

This one is my favorite...
IMG_6600.JPG

IMG_6603.JPG

a brief stop on the way out...
IMG_6613.JPG

I have to say one of the best things about being a night owl by nature, is that you get to do things while others are sleep. Like not waiting in line for more that 5 minutes to see MICKEY!!! Woo Hoo!!:D
IMG_6617.JPG

IMG_6621.JPG

After a great day with a even better evening and an even better than that end, we went back to Pop. I had a long night ahead of me - packing :( Tomorrow was our last day.

We were there at the same time! Just a short walk away.

Great TR. I'm so impressed that you handled two kids on your own. We had three adults and it was still a handful!

It's funny to think you could be next to someone on here & not even know!
The boys were really good! There was only one moment were I had to loose it, but we worked it out. I think the threat of, I will take you to a babysitter & I will have fun in the park myself! was a good deterrent! ;)
Plus we practiced for months, walking & staying together - I guess it paid off!

Day 8 - the Day Everyone Hates, the Last Day -
As I have said about 100 times in the TR - this was Such a wonderful trip, but as it is with all vacations even the really great ones, at some point you have to go back to reality. But that wouldn't happen for hours, so we weren't going to think about that just yet.
I had packed the night before, so in the morning we could just take our time and not have to rush. As I dealt with the bags & flight stuff, the boys played with giant Legos
IMG_6629.JPG

Once that was all taken care of we were off to have breakfast at Chef Mickey's! That has come to be our "Farewell Breakfast" tradition.
One last trip on the monorail
IMG_6652.JPG

Waived to the Magic Kingdom, we'd be there to say good bye properly in just a bit
IMG_6654.JPG

on over to the Contemporary
IMG_6659.JPG

Even the sign makes me happy! Are you smiling too?
IMG_6670.JPG

Pose for the photo, I have one from almost every trip!
IMG_6674.JPG

We had to wait a little, but that wasn't a problem - I think they are watching a boat out the window
IMG_6677.JPG

Staring contest! I actually LOVE this picture of them!
IMG_6682.JPG

We got a nice table with a good view.
My little Nut balls! Rapping!
IMG_6683.JPG

The Mickey waffle, an absolute must!
IMG_6686.JPG

You know it's a good day when you have a cupcake as part of your breakfast!
IMG_6701.JPG

We had a pretty late ADR, so by the time we were seated it wasn't that crowded & we got to spend a bit of time with Mickey & friends!
IMG_6727.JPG

Donald tried to make off with Finn's cupcake!
IMG_6712.JPG

IMG_6716.JPG

IMG_6723.JPG

Why yes, that is a giant plate of bacon. Jealous? Don't worry, we shared!!!
IMG_6725.JPG

IMG_6731.JPG

So stuffed full of bacon & Mickey waffles we headed over to the Magic Kingdom

We didn't have a lot of time, so we had to get our priorities straight -
which meant, go get a Dole Whip right away!
IMG_6768.JPG

I think this is my Christmas card!
IMG_6777.JPG

I hadn't seen Tiki Room since it was switched back, so that was our next stop
IMG_6801.JPG

IMG_6797.JPG

One last picture of the castle
IMG_6807.JPG

Over to Small World, I know a lot people hate it but it is Connor's favorite so we always ride it at least 10 times while we are there!
IMG_6808.JPG

Another tradition, on our last ride I give them each some change & they throw it in the water as we pass the parts of the ride they like most. As we pass the window by Pinocchio's Village Haus, the leopard in the jungle, the monkeys, the sun in Mexico & the 3 koalas (each time we rode we would say that they were us!) :)

No one was terribly hungry, but I had promised them a trip to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
IMG_6825.JPG

and it's just no good if we don't sit it by Sonny!
IMG_6828.JPG

ok, I lied - maybe just one more of the castle
IMG_6831.JPG

and that was that. We said out good byes to WDW, cried a little when we left as we always do but then we had to smile because we had had the most wonderful vacation - just the 3 of us. And this trip had proved beyond any doubt that 3 really is the MAGIC number.

For anyone that would like a little background, you can read my pre-trip report...

oh, and I LOVE pictures! I am in no way a photographer, but I love to take pictures. The digital camera - best invention ever! I took over 2000 this trip. No, really, 2730. So this TR will be photo packed!

I just love your pictures. What I like about them is that they feel so natural and real. Like, does this make sense, you weren't POSING for anything...you were just capturing the magic and the moment. That's so sweet and special. What a joy it was to see your pictures. I am so glad you shared them!

After Lunch we headed over to Camp Minnie-Mickey to watch the Fastival of the Lion King (Baby Simbi especially enjoyed it I'm told)

Look it's the duck versions of us!
IMG_4805.JPG

(sorry Huey, we had to cut you out to make it work)

This was the sweetest thing I've seen in a long time.

"The duck version of your family".

What a wonderful mom you are...and such a sweet image. This was such a personal thing to share, and so lovely. I am smiling so big typing this!

I LOVED your TR, thank you for sharing your wonderful memories with us!!
such a sweet and happy ending!! Loved reading your TR!! Your boys really did behave themselves and you had lots of magical moments. :)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had so much fun writing it, almost as much fun as I had on vacation! Now that it's over I'm not sure what to do. Maybe scrap-booking? I have to do something to keep this going!

You are so sweet! Thank you so much - you made me smile! :D I only have a little camera, nothing fancy & I just kept it strapped to my wrist & snapped as we went. So much so that I could still feel the strap on me after we were back home & I hadn't had the camera anywhere near me for days! But that was it exactly, just trying to capture all we experienced so we could relive it over & over!
Glad you like my "Duck us" as well! That really is what we must have looked like marching through the parks!
