That's Crazy!

What is something you've done to prepare for your Disney vacation that other people think is over the top insane?

I shrank down, color coded by park, and laminated a list of all of the snacks that qualify for the dining plan then put it on a book ring.

Once we book that next trip, my friends and family know I'm into Disney mode and nothing is going to satisfy me until I step onto Disney property. Over the top? Theres no other way to do it but over the top. Trip calendars, planning guides, Disney park maps, Disney books, and all sorts of paraphernalia are all over our house, tables, counters, in my workplace etc. My planning is never ending because theres never satisfying me.

One Little Spark...
I like that. I do something very similar, but I use google docs and google calendar.

I put in park hours, showtimes, ADRs, etc into the calendar. And for the docs, I upload various documents, like dining plan info, etc.

I also program numbers into my phone, such as Disney Dining, Guest Services, and my Hotel Front Desk's number.

I pretty insane when it comes to planning! I book accomodations as soon as I have the calendar for the school year 11 months out at the latest and have my must do ts list ready by Nov. to call in by Dec. As soon as park hours are released I organize my days and at exactly 180 days at 7am I'm on the phone! Packing starts the day after Christmas as we always get things to put away for the trip! Every reservation or confirmation # is written down and put in 2 locations.I'm also totally packed at least 3 days ahead! My packing list for the next trip gets gone over as soon as I get home! So all in all I"m a type A planner!

My crazy part of planning is "ADR perfection" and "plussing the extras."

ADR perfection starts as soon as the calendar is released and I get to plan according to park schedules. Come day 180, I have a plan of what to book when and in what order based on degree of popularity/difficulty. And once that's done...I spend the next 6 months trying to make it all even better. Everything from debating about making the right choice for dinner one night to working to get a better ADR time. Ex. right now I'm pretty happy with all of our ADRs, but it's driving me nuts that I want a 6pm at Kouzzina and even at 180 days out I can only get 5:30 or 6:30...so, I'll keep trying for better. WHich is fine b/c I actually enjoy stalking the website (even the new one) and find the site still better for a stalker like me o_O vs. the phone (i.e. couldn't really call 100+ x per day). The real issue- wondering when the ADR bug will hit me and I'll turn half of our plans on their proverbial ear. Yes, by August I fear that my dining plans might not resemble my current plans one bit. I haven't changed a thing yet, but last trip- I had made over 20 changes just 2 days out from our 180 mark.

As for plussing the extras...it's more of a how far am I going to push the envelope with special cakes, costumes, camera stuff, pins, etc. Ya know, planning out the perfect pirate costume for each person, making an ideal final sketch of my 40th bday cake concept, and deciding when to pull the trigger and buy this new lens (so I have time to also test and practice)- will keep me pretty busy. This and the ADRs make me sound like a crazy person for at least a good 7 months.

I don't really do any other planning sheets or booklets b/c the reality is I'll have fun creating them and they'll keep me preoccupied for a while, but I won't use them a bit during our trip = time wasted. Plus, there are so many sites I can bookmark on my phone and so many little things like ADR times and confirms that I can input on my phone calendar that I just find I don't really need anything more.
