I'M A COMIN!!!

Muahahahaha! :D

Every year, all of my family around the country come to Philly for a week or two in the summer, just to visit and be together. I was getting ready to purchase plane tickets for my aunts and uncles to come to Philly when my mom told me there's been a change of plans. Instead of everyone coming to Philly this year, we're all gonna go to my uncle's in Houston! My eyes lit up when my mom said we were going to Texas! I've never been there... well, I've never been pretty much anywhere. But going to Texas sounds so cool! Though my fear is we won't really do much and all everyone will do is just eat and sleep in the relative's house. My family seems to be content with stuff like that. If that's the case, I'd rather not go. But I'm hoping we actually get to do stuff and go places. *crosses fingers*

By the way... what IS there to do in Texas?

Current list of things I want to do in Texas:

1. Get a real genuine cowboy hat.
2. Ride a horse.
3. Dance in the center of Dallas wearing a Terrell Owens Eagles jersey... :lookaroun

Texas... WOOOO!!!

Vince, I've had the distinct honor (or is it curse  ) to have lived in Houston...

#1 and 2 are doable... but #3 isn't.... unless you wanna go on a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG drive from Houston to Dallas (to give an example... it's closer to get to New Orleans than it is to Dallas).

A good suggestion would be to eat a REAL Texas steak... and search for some souvenir reading "dont' mess with texas"

after you do the touristy stuff, give me a call... lol

btw- when are you going to be there? I might be there for a few hours (literally) in mid may

It'll prolly be in July. My dad's best friend lives in Fort Worth so I figure he might wanna take the long drive to see him as well. :)

Stay away from my Grandparents Vince...

If I were you I would go try and find the Prarie Dogs.

I think they're in Paris, which (Rob can correct me if I'm wrong) isn't that far of a drive from Houston.

Have Fun!

Unfortunately (no offense to Houstonians intended) Houston is sort of boring. The city, at least, seems to shut down at 5:00, but the suburbs are unbelievably huge. I'm sure you can find some interesting things to do (but you'll have to drive for a while to get into anything that doesn't look like King of Prussia).

If I were you, I'd plan on driving to San Antonio or New Orleans if you have time.

Yes Houston is BORING!!!! I have lived here my whole life. You could go to astroworld. Its ok , no Disney though. Also, if you are into Space and such you could go visit NASA in Clear Lake. Its got some neat stuff there as well. Also, you could of gone to this really neat place to go ice skating to cool off also in the clearlake area but it closed down due to stupid people (and put me out of a job.:( ) But yeah get a good authentic cowboy hat. Let me know what stuff you want to do, believe me I can tell ya ;)

Just about anywhere in Texas you can get a "cowboy" experience. Texans are just as glad to take your money as anyone else is.

Yet another misconception about New Orleans. N.O. is more than flashing yourself and the French Quarter. I agree with above comments--head for N.O. or San Antonio if you have the time. You're about 350 miles away from N.O. and about 200 from S.A. Dallas is 240 miles north.

Thing's I've learned in Dallas, Texas.

*Everything IS big in Texas.
*There's a Six Flags inbetween Dallas and Fort Worth.
*Make sure you read highway signs as they come. There's a weird tendency to show drivers exits (on really small signs) way after the exit  .

Have fun!

Yeeesh... you'd think I'd reached Dallas by now. Hey, what does that exit say... Milwaukee?! :brick:

Got some news...

Ok... it seems Houston isn't the only stop for some of my family members. If I'm going to Texas, it looks like it will be for a week then back to Philly. But... oh boy... my aunt and my cousin Nicole ( who's just the sweetest little 8 year old ever) from Vancouver, well... after a week in Houston... they wanna go to Orlando and WDW!

DOH! Houston's gonna seem like crap now (no offense to Texans) compared some of my family going off to WDW!

I'm glad for them, it'll be their first time. But you know... well... yeah, of course I wish I could go too. But I think it's just for them, which I understand. They want me to book the flight to Orlando for them. :lookaroun

Aunt: Hey, you booked an extra person.
Vince: Oh? I did? Silly me, my bad. Oh well, it's nonrefundable, guess you're just gonna have to take someone else with you... *hint hint*
Aunt: Good idea! I'll take your cousin Calvin, I'm sure he'll love it.
Vince: Doh!

Guess it's now up to me to transfer all the knowledge Magic has given me over to them to help them plan their trip. :)

Put the ticket in your name. They can also be non-transferable.:king:
