EPCOT Test Track to be reimagined

So, from what I can gather, this won't actually be reminiscent of World of Motion at all?

No, never was indicated to be - just that it would have some inspiration from it

So could have a nod to the evolution of transportation, maybe some Easter eggs int he queue or on the ride at slow parts, maybe some elements of a call back to the music from WoM, etc.

Definitely not going to make anyone think it is the return of the old attraction just fans of it might recognize some nods

We don't even know anything about the ride experience itself publicly.

Sure we do -- it'll be the exact same ride experience* as Test Track 1.0 and Test Track 2.0.

*I don't actually believe this; the themed content is the most important part of the attraction (and as you said, we know little to nothing about that) -- just reminiscing about the claims that Tiana would be the same ride as Splash since the drops and track weren't changing. We do at least know what the physical experience will be like!

I just hope they come up with something to make the section that was the no ABS/ABS demonstration in 1.0 make the motion make sense. Not that it really felt like you were skidding in 1.0. I don't think it is possible to actually simulate locked up wheels skidding when the vehicle is being driven by rolling wheels.

I can't think of anything good for the first part. The second part they could install a traffic light at the beginning and end of the straight section and make it that you are drag racing when the light turns green and then have to stop when the second one is red down the road.

Again, as I mentioned there was nothing showcasing any AA's for this attraction as WoM had a bunch...I still feel it will be projection heavy and this is not going by Epic Universe comparison of ride wise "wowness"

They never said this was going to be WOM, it's going to be Test Track.

and why are we comparing a 20 year old rides update to a brand new built E ticket ride in the last 5? Will the Epic Universe comparison end? What's next? A new Mickey Mouse meet & greet is compared to Wizarding Paris as a land?

Funny how issues like not worrying about hiding views of outside the park, leaving big blue show buildings and backstage in plain view, etc. are no big deal in one case and everything is a sign of penny pinching in the interests of corporate greed in the other.
Yes...............well................ahh..................but..................the thing is.......................

It's supposed to be inspired by it...
Disney has today announced that Imagineers, along with teams from Chevrolet are reaching back into history for inspiration – from the original World of Motion – and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of the Test Track attraction at EPCOT.

Considering they can’t even change the custodial costumes without sarcastic comments like “take that, Epic Universe!”, it’ll be a while.

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.

I see the TT refresh as a good thing. TT 2.0 was never my favorite, I liked the first version. The important thing is this refresh is happening because GM is sponsoring TT for another decade.

Whatever we are getting in this refresh will be fine with me as it will not be the TRON version of TT.

The only thing I worry about is if they try to “update” or “improve” the ride system and vehicles.

If it ain’t broken don’t fix it.

It will never end. Universal Orlando and WDW will always be compared. It’s human nature.

And this constant comparison/competition is good for the guest.
I actually don’t think this level of comparison is good for anyone. It’s ridiculous to say that everything is “an answer to Epic” and that desensitizes to true and good faith comparisons. Everyone knows it’s ridiculous to compare a brand new made from scratch E ticket headliner to not even the headliner of a park that is 20 years old. Compare. 2 new E tickets and people will actually take the merit of the convo

If anyone is comparing the TT refresh to EPIC that is of course wrong.

The TT refresh on contract renewal is simply business as usual for Disney.

I was thinking of more general comparisons.

Then that’s a completely different story and welcome imo. I do think the competition is a good thing but I don’t think the comparisons to Epic and this, new costumes, and the new play areas is a good thing unless it’s a 1-1

I’ve seen many people express the faults with epic + their feelings it’s recency bias is going to fade fairly quickly which I don’t entirely disagree with

I think a lot of the Epic Universe comparisons to WDW come from an aspect of Universal building an entire theme park (with 3 resorts) in the same amount of time it takes Disney to build a new restroom area (im slightly exaggerating but not by much).

Add in the fact that Epic Universe appears to be fleshed out quite well with attractions, shows and dining and now you've got people that in their heart of hearts want Disney to do better and then the comparisons begin. We all know what Disney is capable of (or what they used to be capable of) and it hurts our Disney ego to see Universal beating them at their own game.

IMO, competition creates innovation and hopefully in the end, we all win!

EU had to go as fast as it could since there's no income coming from it until it opens.... all the while going way over budget.

That's why Disney's DVC towers go up lickety split.
