EPCOT Test Track to be reimagined

Uh, whether or not new vehicles happened, the track was never going to change, which is what would account for most of the feel. Swapping in a different car won’t do anything like what you described.
The acceleration profile would most certainly change.

Better electric motors means faster acceleration, even possibly faster speeds. Combine with better regenerative braking, it can slow down quicker.

You know what's funny?
Well the new entrance, points of light, Connections, Guardians, Space 220, Journey of water, Awesome planet, Canadas update, Ratatouille, Regal eagle and Luminous were fitting
Fitting of what?
Connections is sterile. No soul.
Guardians is great but doesn’t belong in Epcot.
Rat isn’t anything new or special. And the expansion to the pavilion to go along with it looks like garbage.
Luminous is still a downgrade to something made decades ago.
And that doesn’t even cover the things they didn’t do.
As I said, their track record in Epcot should give people concern.

Fitting of what?
Connections is sterile. No soul. The mural, restored floor to ceiling windows and far better food
Guardians is great but doesn’t belong in Epcot. It added a quality eticket despite its thematic shortcomings.
Rat isn’t anything new or special. And the expansion to the pavilion to go along with it looks like garbage. Adding a new ride to WS desperately in need of more of them.
Luminous is still a downgrade to something made decades ago. Disagree, Illuminations was out of date and had too much dead time.
And that doesn’t even cover the things they didn’t do.
As I said, their track record in Epcot should give people concern.

To be fair, it was Disney who gave us concept art that sure looked like a completely new vehicle, it wasn’t completely crazy for us to think that.

Hopefully the attraction sets themselves get more love and all could be forgiven.

They don’g need to be? They function just fine. They’re not uncomfortable to sit in. The ride’s capacity is fine. The ride isn’t rough. What is there to update?

The concept are made me think maybe they'd be getting new fiberglass shells which I guess may have made them seem a little more modern. Maybe that was a plan at one point and they just decided they could get close enough with a black vinyl wrap on the existing?

Might have been cool but not something I'd lose a lot of sleep over either way, I don't think.

Seems like something that would be noticed more by repeat riders in a "oh this is new" sense than something that a decade from now would necessarily help it continue to feel modern.

Since you're from the future, tell me, will we have flying cars by then?

We’re getting close.

A simple observation:

There are lots of trees in the one piece of concept art we've seen, but there weren't many trees in WOM other than the few in the barking dog/farming scene.
My assumption was that they might be keeping the "testing a vehicle in a variety of environments" arc of the existing narrative but instead populate it with more realistic (and therefore more timeless) sets rather than the neon grid cut-out pines and whatnot in the 2.0 iteration.
