They didn’t route it through an active construction zone, the area the 5k went through is still an open backstage access gate. They just pushed it up closer to Mission: Space. The actual construction zone is just the canopy area and the perimeter of the track
Odd, I was going off the scaffolding a couple feet to their left which would imply construction
There’s a fence between the runners and the scaffolding. It’s chain link so it doesn’t really stand out against the scaffolding.

Being able to go backstage, loiter for a moment and even snap some pictures has been a long standing perk of doing the Run Disney events.

Again, my point is routing it backstage past a project like this is an odd thing to do as it spoils the eventual reveal. I totally understand they let people backstage, but it's odd they'd let them this close to Test Track because of the views of the construction. Letting them have an exclusive view of a not-open section of new ride.
Maybe the Machines weren't running and the area was deemed safe?
It’s not because this isn’t the first time the backstage access has included construction views. There’s nothing odd or new about it.
Test Track is a 26 year old ride and the building looks largely the same as it has for those last 26 years. You can’t really spoil a reveal if the thing has already existed for this long and the changes to the area in view are going to be minimal. The racers didn’t see anything that day guests haven’t already seen before other than a fence and some scaffolding
Somewhat OT, how was the run yesterday with what seems to be somewhat colder than normal temperatures? Schedule wise we have been doing the Spring Surprise historically and are looking to do Wine and Dine this October so haven't had to deal with the winter season weather.
I'm simply surprised. If nothing else, I would expect they would attempt to cover the fence with a test track promotional sign or something. I didn't know that about course lengths, that does explain it a bit. I'm just a bit surprised knowing how WDW management works. Thanks for an explanation.
