Missing completely??? Or just left as it was? Does anyone have more info on that?

That ToT review is pretty cool... it does sound quite different! I'm really looking forward to it! Work and school permitting, I'll be there opening day!

Kirsten -- I look forward to YOUR review!!!!!! BTW, I was reading that Eisner rode it and said he didn't think it was scary enough, so they added an extra "loop".

Oh, I'll definitely be posting a review as soon as I ride it. I should have my digi camera by then, too, for opening day pics and video. :)

And scarier is good!! :D

Back in the day:
As you que up for the run at the closed doors (before you go outside)
There was a car that would crash head first right infront of you.

Now all you see is the car post crash, (with its hood bent and looking like it hit the wall). It used to be that you saw it zoom in and hit the wall.

This was in sync with the preshow:
"and maybe a few surprises"
"Surprises?"
"Yeah....pick one"
-cut to shot of crash test dummies hitting the wall, just like what you saw before running at the closed doors.

It really enhanced the run at the door, since you just saw a car hit the wall you really thought that was what you were in for.

Thanks fngoofy....I don't think I've ever seen that.

man.. you missed out..! [this was quite possibly one of my favorite effects/elements on any ride] -it was just so perfect and let alone well done.. it really looked like the car had just crashed right before you, and everytime it would happen the rest of the car [assuming they were newbies] would be a little startled by it and get a little nervous before it was 'our turn' ..then those bright lights would come on, you'd zoom towards the wall, close your eyes in anticipation of hitting it, and when you opened them you realized you were flying around the outdoor portion of the track.

we know the story.

new guests.. not so much.

it all goes by so fast, many now dont even catch the whole "this car just crashed and now its your turn to also'' concept -mainly because this effect is gone..

i'd say many dont even notice the 'crashed car' that sits there now..... and now the experience is very different. opposed to my previous description, now its more like:

come around the corner, oh look at this neat looking room, oh look bright lights -ooh we're picking up speed, doors fly open, and wheeeee.

IMO the desired effect of this portion of the ride is completely lost.. and that saddens me.

*[maybe its just me, and i kind of hope it is.. that way its more fun for first time riders] but does it seem like the effects are now a little under-done..?

to me it seems like:
1.) no more working crash car
2.) dramatic pause before rushing at the door is much shorter
3.) lights don't light up quite as bright anymore
4.) door doesnt wait as long to open as it did before
5.) its obvious that its a door waiting to open.. not a wall you're about to crash into.

...like i said, i really hope that these things just seem this way because of the numerous times ive ridden this ride, and that things arent as bad as i think they are.

yeah, i agree with all your points, imagineersrock. the crash test room just doesn't seem to have the same affect that it used to. i dunno, maybe it's just because i know the drill so well now, but it doesn't seem as intense, as you've already said. i know the crash effect was complex, but's it's Disney we're talking about here...if anyone can pull that kind of thing off and keep it going, Disney can! i REALLY wish they'd bring it back. i think you're right, though. i don't think people really pay attention to the crashed car when it's just sitting there.

How long has the crash car been down for? I`ve got it on my home video (2001) and thought it looked cool... its not as if its a hard effect to fix (the car didn`t actually hit the wall, nor did it damage itself in the process)

Sounds similar to the Splash Brear Rabbit bouncing AA....

You guys are so right! They definitely need to bring that effect back. You can definitely tell that it's a door waiting to open at the end and not a wall that you're about to crash into. Another thing I don't like is that the cars don't stop in the environmental chambers anymore. You really don't get as much of a feel for the heat and the cold anymore. I read somewhere on here that they took out the stop because the ride broke down and people got stuck in the chambers, but you would think that Disney could make a way to stop that from happening without getting rid of the effect!

I posted this in another thread on test track but i'll put it here too.

The crash car that used to crash then just sat there was a deep red older saturn sedan. The new crash car is a new white saturn suv. Form what I saw of it it looks llike the front end is permanantly crumpled and isn't designed to keep crashing. On the old car you could see the arears where the different parts crumpled and could go back into place now you can't.

I understand the wear and tear that this part of the attraction must have taken hence the reason it's gone. What I would like to at leat see is add a little more time for your car to come around the corner, sit there, hear the engineers gearing up for a crash test, then send you flying towards the wall. I too would like the wall to open a little later and paint the bottom portion wherre they adde3d extra plywood for protection.

I have ridden a couple of time where we hit the wall going out (not fun) and once it kept going the other time halfway through the small loop going slow the car stopped, on the incline, and sat ther for fifteen minutes.

I think if they at least made more drama for the crash sequence it wold be a much better effect than what it is now.

BTW, the redisgned inside que is far better than it used to be.

I don't believe the cars ever STOPPED in the chambers... just slowed.

I am really sad I never got to experience the crash sequence. It sounds really cool. The first time I rode Test Track was January 2003. I could totally tell that the wall was going to move for us.

What I really want to see is the outside loop made bigger so that the ride reaches 100 mph.

Real Test Tracks drive the cars past 150 mph so why have the car go the speed limit? So that people wont sue Disney because the ride wanted them to speed?

The greater the speed, the more difficult it is for the cars to space out correctly... the more likely slow downs will occur throughout the ride... etc
