Test Track Post Show Car Purchase

Well, it finally happened... after riding Test Track 2.0 in March we poked around in the postshow area for awhile and, as usual, checked out some of the cars. DS7 always loves to sit in the driver seat in as many as possible and we usually oblige. If there is a Camaro, DH wants to be in it. Me... I just kind of wander and follow them. Sometimes I sit in a few cars and think "hmm ok this is nice" but usually that's about it.

This trip however, there was this adorable little green car that I just had to check out. Upon closer inspection it was a new model (for Chevy - in the states) called a Spark. I immediately fell in love and couldn't get over how cool the interior was. When we left for home, it kind of kept popping into my head but we already had two cars that were running fine and had no desire (or credit lol) to buy a new one.

Fast forward a couple months to Memorial Day when we decide to sell one of our two Mini Coopers. My husband isn't working and paying a car payment for a vehicle to sit in the drive way 99.9% of the time just didn't make sense. So... we did it. And... as seems typical whenever we make a "good" decision like that... 2 months later our one remaining Mini Cooper has a severe engine failure. We were faced with a choice... drop around $5k to fix it or attempt to trade it in on a new car. New car wins out... but what ever are we going to buy? :D

I betcha you can guess what is now sitting in my drive way can't ya? :) Her name is either "Creeper" (after the Minecraft baddy) or Booger (depending on who you ask in our house lol).

So here's my question to all of you... anyone else out there end up buying a car after seeing it in the Test Track postshow area?

We nearly did. They had one of the prototypes for the Saturn VUE at TT in around 2000. When the VUE came out in 2001 the production model was a good bit different that what was on display and we elected to go with the SL2.

I've noticed when they have the concepts that they often do differ. A few years back when the new Camaro was still in concept they had it behind a wall and you couldn't look inside. We talked to the GM rep that they had there with it for awhile and he explained that it was so new of a concept that the vehicle sitting there didn't have an approved interior and they didn't want folks to see it as a result. I think actually he mentioned that some pieces of the interior were missing completely so that was another reason not to let people in.

We expected a few differences, but they just mounted up enough to make us not want the VUE. From what I remember, the back cargo area got a good bit smaller, the color they used that really drew us to the VUE was not available and there was a myriad of other things little that just kept adding up.

I would really love the Camaro they have in there right now but I am driving my paid off mini-van until the wheels come off.

That's cute!!

I bought my last car on the spur of the moment, while waiting for the tire to be changed on my old one. I saw it, liked it, loved the stitching on the seats and went to ask the guy how much mine would bring as a trade-in.

When I got back from the test drive and asked, "Where do you want me to park it?" the sales guy said, "In your garage!" (ba dum bum)...and I did. :)

Never bought a car from Disney. I wonder if you could. If you went up to the people there, would they sell you a car?

I bought my Chevy Equinox because of Test Track. I was looking for an SUV and when I came off the ride there it was. I am 6'5" and it had plenty of leg room. I went over to the computer, ordered the dealer catalog shipped to my house, and a month later I bought one.
YAY it's not just me! LOL :D

Pretty sure they don't have the required infrastructure (i.e. finance, paperwork, etc.) to do it but I'm sure they'd refer you to a dealer locally with pretty much everything they could need to seal the deal. Most we've gotten was brochures etc. sent to our house along with an e-mail or two from a dealer re: the reference they got from someone at Test Track re: our interest in X vehicle.

Me too! My DS said-Look this car is perfect for us! We saw it again at a local art show-there it was all loaded out looking pretty. FF a year and DH (with DS help of course) surprised me with a brand new loaded out to the max Equinox LTZ. It's been 3 years- every time I get my car I say "man I LOVE this car!" I will drive it until the wheels fall off.
OP- I LOVE the Spark! We are a one car family as well (which REALLY sucks sometimes) and are looking for a small second car- wish they has the electric version in FL though- that would be perfect.
