Test Track or Soarin'

I will be visiting Epcot on an Extra Magic Hour day. I am not sure if this means the park will open early or stay open late. In the past when I have taken advantage of EMH the park would open early so that is what I am assuming.

Now for my question. My wife and I are doing the Dolphins in Depths tour and it starts at 9:30am. If I get there right when the park opens at 8:00am which of the two rides should we go on before our tour. Every time I have been in the past Test Track has been extremely long and from what I am hearing Soarin' is the same. So in your expert opinions, which is longer? Should we do Test Track first, tour second, Soarin' third or Soarin' first, tour second, Test Track third? What way would be most time efficient? Thanks for your help.

What day are you going and in what month?? I can take a stab at if this is a morning or evening EMH. Belle

Soarin!!

I personally LOVE Soarin'. I was in Disney in June and I waited 1/2 hour and it was worth the wait!!! The ride itself is 5 minutes long (I think) and it is so fun!! I'm not a huge fan of Test Track. I never wait in line for it, it's kind of boring. If you have never been on either ride, then try to do both, but I would go on Soarin' first. As far as time The Land is next to the Living Sea's. (Test Track is across the park). And, if you go on Soarin' and you still have time to spare, you can go on Living with Land boat ride (or do Soarin' again!) and then you will be done with The Land and can hit other rides after your tour. Have FUN!!!

Here's what I'd do:
1. Go straight to Test Track and ride it.
2. Go to Soarin' and get FastPasses for it.
3. If you have enough time to wait in the stand-by line and experience Soarin' before the Dolphin tour, do it.
4. Do the Dolphin tour.
5. Use your FastPasses for Soarin'.

I wouldn't wait until after the Dolphin tour for Test Track, because if it rains, Test Track gets shut down. That won't happen to Soarin'.

I like this game plan. This would work for me, trust me you will want to do Soarin' at least twice!!!! As far as the EMH this info was taken right from the Disney website:
August 2005
Morning Extra Magic Hours
Magic Kingdom® Park - August 3, 10, 17, 26
Epcot® - August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Disney-MGM Studios - August 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park - August 6, 13, 20, 27

Evening Extra Magic Hours
Magic Kingdom® Park - August 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 24, 31
Epcot® - August 4, 11, 18, 25
Disney-MGM Studios - August 7, 14, 21, 28
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park - August 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

So the day you are going is a MORNING EMH. I am not a morning person so I havent ever done a morning EMH!!! Hope this helps!! Belle

I have gone to two Epcot park openings and I have seen the mass of people who turn right at Innoventions, it's like a sea of people going into the Land. YOU MUST RIDE SOARIN' FIRST! Get a Fastpass afterwards (or before), then do Test Track.

I second that post. You should be able to do both in one and a half hours, and definitly get a fastpass for later. If you ride Soarin first, you will be able decide whether you want to get a fastpass for Soarin or Test Track, then get one for later. Remember, you can use fastpasses for any time after the time given (on the same day), so if the return time is during the dolphins in depth, it is ok.
