Terrible Experience at AoA

My husband and I stayed at AoA for 5 nights from October 22-27. I was super excited about the new resort, but that excitement was short lived. We were in the Little Mermaid rooms since it was just the two of us. The first night we both woke ups sweating our butts off, despite the AC saying 68 degrees. The air wasnt even running. So the next morning while I was at the main building filling my mugs I stopped by the lobby and told the woman at the concierge desk. She said that maintenance would come out. So off we went to the parks. Well the second night, it was so hot that I actually got into the other bed. So here we are sleeping in separate beds so that we wouldnt be stuck to each other. Separate beds on what we were considering our honeymoon! So once again, I made trek to the lobby and spoke to two more women. The higher up lady said she would send maintenance again and that they would look into switching up to a different room. Well we never got switched. The air still sucked. It really was the pits. Also, not to mention that walls are soooo thin that I could literally hear every single word that the family next door said. It was awful. I have stayed in Pop, Music, and Movies... never have I had such an awful experience.

I'm normally not a complainer. Just had to vent, thanks for listening.

Lol, your experience is very, very different than my bad experiences.

They're not always great. Sometimes they are really terrible.
The last poor experience we had at Disney was when we checked in at the Poly after our cruise in May. I went to use the bathroom and there was a yellow fluid in the toilet. Don't know if it was urine or cleaning solution but I immediately called the front desk. They apologized profusely and offered a new room or to take half a day's stay off my bill. I took the $200 and had them come out and clean the bathroom. I was more than pleased at their immediate solution.

Always "complain" politely no matter what! Ask questions and be very straight forward about what you need! I have never had a bad experience in any of the resorts. They have always been quite accommodating!:)

I have to agree with many others here. OP is this was handled differently on your end you would have gotten better results.

I would have called front desk immediately and if it wasn't handled right away I would have made a trip there in person. At that point I would have requested a new room. Taking that course of action would have solved the problem right away. I'm not saying you had to be mean or angry, just firm and authoritative about what you want. Disney would have been more than willing to accommodate you.

I've had many good and many bad experiences at Disney. The worst experience at the Poly, specifically, was when I found a bunch of other people's stuff in the room and asked them to come get it. They said they would, but didn't. Went through that twice and then took the stuff down to the desk, where the girl acted like she had no idea what to do with it. I hope those people got their stuff back. It was mostly junk but may have had sentimental value.

I've had much worse stuff happen, though. Much, much worse.

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that! The kids I nanny for were just ehre and they had an exceptional experience. I'm so sorry! You may want to write a letter. I have done that before. They sent me a gift card which was not the intention of the letter. It was to tell them that Disney has standards. If they let them slip, then they won't be Disney.

Yes I got into a real tizzy with them in October of 2011 when we booked 2 rooms at CBR... at first it was like well sorry you booked it wrong.. and they were right I did, so I just went on and on about how they were making me downright miserable in what was suppose to be the happiest place on earth... so then they swapped my rooms out for me... of course then when we were moving we left something in the old room and when we went back to try to retrieve it, it was gone and of course housekeeping never saw it... so I had to chalk that up to my karma for pitching a hissy fit... But basically I agree, always bring anything unsatisfactory to disney's attention.

Er...that was kind of my point. I barely had anything happen to me, and they over compensated me. If someone actually had a horrible time, I think they would gladly help out if you speak up.
