This restaurant is a sticky point in our home. My DH has been asking for years to eat here. And due to mixed reviews, I don't want to. Also, there is a chain here in the States all Beni Hana (spelling?) which is basically what this is. My DH REALLY wants to go...and I REALLY don't want to. I feel bad b/c he asks for so little when it comes to going to WDW. And he gets fixated on things some times so I think now, he wants to try for the sake of trying. But l don't want to give up a coveted TS credit for it. Overall, the reviews are mixed. Some people go every year and love it! Some people say it is a waste of a TS. I will be curious to read what folks have to say. Maybe if good reviews, I will come around and indulge the old DH. :)

I can't tell you about the DP, but we have eaten at Teppan Edo. The food was great, and it was the only meal that trip that my very picky DD ate during the trip, that didn't include anything deep fried (chicken nuggets and fries) or placed on a bun (cheeseburger). DS still talks about the drinks we had there. Yum! Sorry Hatter, they were without any "adult" add ins.

Now, having said all of this, I will also say, I think the experience really hinges on two things:
1- Your chef. It is, after all, a bit of a floor show seeing your food prepared in front of you.
2-Who you share a table with. We got lucky and shared the table with a great family from Tennessee. But, if you end up at the table with a family with young kids who have pushed them beyond their limits, and everyone is ready for a good cry--well, just run for La Cava after. Who am I kidding? I'm sure you were planning on stopping there, anyway.

We also have the same type of restaurant were we live and have eaten there. Teppan at WDW is so much better! Do go there at least once. It is a must for our family every time we go even my kids love it.(one of my kids gets the shrimp and the other gets the filet) Even if your table mates/cook are not that entertaining the food is still amazing.

We love Teppan-Edo, even the kids eat the food. We don't have any restaurants like this at home, we have hundreds of very good Italian and Indian to make up for it.
It has become a must do for us. It is the one place all 5 of us want to go.

We have enjoy Teppan Edo and have always had the DDP. And yes the combos are awesome, along with the "show". Try it all. I see some people have had some bad experiences, however we have been to Disney quite a bit in the past 8 years and are never disappointed in the food anywhere we have eaten.

Our experience there this summer was awesome. we ate with a couple who retired to Orlando and were WDW regulars, and a newlywed couple. The chef was great!

I know you love La Cava for its fine drinks, so I'd also recommend La Hacienda de San Angel.

After going to WDW for so many times, last year was our first time going to teppan edo and now is on my DH's must do list. We have been to a few hibachi places and comparing teppan edo to them. teppan edo is no bad, not the best, but it not bad. I got the shrimp and filet and it was good, the sauces they serve seem to be the same as the other places we had tried, we were offered rice or noodles, we did order sushi as an appetizer ( not included with the DDP) and havent found any as good. The entertainment I found to be a little conservative, but I write it off because its Disney. Other places we have been the chief feeds you shots of sake, and throws food in your mouth. BUT we did enjoy teppan edo and will be returning.

I have eaten at Teppan Edo on my last 5 trips and have always gotten a combo entree on the DDP. The food is delicious and the cooks are very entertaining! Dessert leaves much to be desired in my opinion, but I never really have room for it anyway. You should definitely try it out!

Ditto. Rarely do we skip Teppa Edo. Great bang for the buck or DDP. Dessert I usually skip even even on the dining plan, why pay for the tip x 2 or 4 desserts. I think I'd have to rate it as the worst dessert selection on property for a TS. Hey Hatter, there is a follow up thread, Worst TS dessert selection. :jawdrop:

This is my son's fav restaurant. EVERY year he eats at Teppan Edo even if he has to go by himself. Every year he gets the chicken and steak combo. LOVES it! Yep this is available on the dining plan along with dessert and a non alcoholic drink :)
