We have an ADR for 7/30. We've never eaten here before, but we have had many hibachi dinners. DH feels that we can have hibachi here at home, so why have it at Disney. Can anyone offer insight as to what makes this restaurant "special" or if they have any suggestions for other restaurants that are a must try? Otherwise, we plan on having dinner at:
Liberty Tree
Boma
Rose & Crown
'Ohana

We love Teppan Edo! I gues if you like hibachi or sushi then you should keep it. It just really depends on what you want to eat.

Sanaa is a must try in my opinion.

I like Teppan Edo, but I don't think there is anything really stand out about it, other than it is in Epcot.

I like Teppan Edo because they actually have Japanese CMs there. But it would be nice if they would change it to something you can't get everywhere else. Maybe add some more authentic Japanese cuisine.

The food is good at Teppan Edo. I think the biggest downfall there is that some of the chefs are not that good at the show part of the meal. We have had good chefs and some that were just bad.

Liberty Tree IMHO is nothing special at all. If you can Japanese Hibachi at home that you can certainly have an over cooked turkey dinner there too.

Boma is great and offer a good selection of Americanized foods as well as a huge selection of traditional African fare.

Ohana' is very good. Served family style and is very meat centric. Over all a good variety of food and tasty too.

Like @wdwmagic said, Sanaa is a great option. Great African inspired flavors and if you are lucky enough to get a window seat you can watch the African Crowned Cranes coming up to the windows.

That's sort of my feeling about Liberty Tree, but we want to spend all day at MK and this dining option seemed the best.

I would agree….at 11 she might have a hard time with spice. Could not get a clear picture from the menu if there were options for her that were less spicy

I have had hibachi style dinners in many major cities and towns, and yet still can't find one that has food as good at Teppan Edo, which has been my fave restaurant in Disney World since 2009. I can't tell you what sticks out as "special" TE, but it just seemed "magical." The chefs are very entertaining and I loved interacting with the other Japanese CM's in the restaurant.

Ohana has seemed to move towards the Mediocre lately with their food, etc. If you want to eat at the Poly, I suggest Kona Cafe which comes in a close second for me to Teppan Edo.

Good luck!

If found Teppan Edo lacking.

Poor show from our chef, and sub-par teppan type food. If there were no hibachi places around where i live, I would definately go again. But there are at least 4 within a 15 minute drive from my house, and Teppan Edo offers nothing better (and in most points is worse) than all of them.

Try Tony's Town Square if you want to stay in MK. Tony's was taken off our dining list many years ago. We happened to change our dining plans one day and Tony's had an opening and we were happily surprised. Food was good and the service was outstanding in now 2 return visits to Tony's.

Or try dining at a MK resort restaurant.

We went there this past January, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad. we had never been before. i recommend doing something else. San Angel inn, Nine Dragons, or Biergarten.

For me, Teppan Edo is slightly better than most other hibachi places, but it is still hibachi. I highly recommend going with Tokyo Dining instead. It's much more of an authentic Japanese experience, and the bento boxes are delicious. It's not just sushi (thought the sushi is really good), and they have kid-friendly options.

I agree with this! I love Japanese food. Eat it all the time at home, would eat it all the time at Disney if common sense didn't restrain me. Teppan Edo is good, but Tokyo Dining is better. The view of World Showcase Lagoon is more fun than the dinner show IMO. It's a good restaurant for trying new things and sharing dishes. So you get a little bit of everything. :)

We like Teppan Edo but have better hibachi near us. It is good but not great. We agree that food is good that is made even better because it is in WS. We have our ADR on the night we plan on seeing Illuminations. Good 1-2 punch. If we had to leave park for Sanaa, we wouldn't come back for Illuminations.
