If your going out of state be sure and tell your bank before you leave, thata' way they know why you have outta' state charges on you bank card and or credit card and don't put a hold on it. I have a fear of being stranded with no source of funds. Leaving in 2 days!!:sohappy:

My charge card was used to book Disney... They already know I'm going! :D

My Disney Visa was once blocked while I was IN Disney

They also just blocked it today when I bought Universal/Blue Man Group tickets... coincidence?
Amex and I have been good to each other... :lookaroun

So far, I pay them, they're happy... I think I travel enough they don't consider it anomalous when I do.

Wish I could get a Disney Visa... But Canadians aren't eligible.

Banks normally flag accounts with unusual activity. They do this to protect YOU and them from liability.

So, yes it wouldn't be a bad idea to advise your bank when you are going on vacation to places where you don't normally use your card or for unusual large purchases.

We've never had a problem, but my DD who lives here, but goes to school out of state has the problem a few times a year. The bank calls her cell phone as soon as the transaction is made and she tells them that yes, she is in NY on break (or Florida in school) and everything is ok. It may be a small hassle, but well worth the caution.

After our Visa was frozen on a trip to Costa Rica, we always let them know when we are leaving the country.
I travel out of state regularly, but I have never let my CC company know. No problems with that yet!

I always let my credit card know when I'm going to be out of the country, especially after a friend of mine almost couldn't leave Australia to come home because she couldn't settle up the car rental company because her card had been blocked.

I haven't had any problems when I have traveled to different states. But it might not be a bad idea if you don't travel a lot or make many purchases.

Luckily we call home to check our messages and there were several on there from Discover. They put a hold on our credit card while we were gone. We had just gotten to Florida and were boarding a Disney Cruise, so would have charges out of the country. Good thing we called back home and got it straightened out before we traveled to Mexico. Now we call before we leave home to let them know.

It's always a good idea to let them know.

I got a call from my CC company on two different occasions. Once they asked if I was in CA (No) and another time if I was in London (No, again) But apparently, my CC number was, and they were having a lot more fun than I was. ;)

Its interesting to find out what your credit card has been doing without your knowledge. Once my dad got a call from his CC company asking him if he was in Georgia at a gas station and buying pizza. He was not anywhere near Georgia.
