Join me, brother. We may be the only two who love the movie but we can be united by that love!I beginning to fear that my love for that movie is starting to become unironic by mistake.

We could divide it by thirds. First six holes could be an aviation history theme, then theres canon or something that shoots up to the next level for 6 holes of fantasy in the sky with clouds and rainbow bridges and maybe the house from Up or some other IP, then the Earth to the Moon cannon could shoot up to a third level with a last 6 holes in SPACE!Hm, now that I'm attempting to develop the "History of Aviation" concept, it seems too encyclopedic and/or too repetitive for a mini-golf course. It might end up looking like an interactive piece from an aviation museum than a Disney park. Back to the drawing board!
What if the house from UP is the way to get from hole 6 to hole 7? Have it be a fake “elevator” like the Hydrolators were but realistic enough the guests feel like they’re flyingthen theres canon or something that shoots up to the next level for 6 holes of fantasy in the sky with clouds and rainbow bridges and maybe the house from Up or some other IP,
I know that’s always the dream. But lately, that doesn’t feel super realistic. That being said, I do think we should stay away from IPs. I think more Epcot-esc feel
To be fair, only Fantasia Gardens has IP and only the regular course. The other three courses at Disney are all IP free.I know that’s always the dream. But lately, that doesn’t feel super realistic.
That version of epcot lasted a decade (and even then it was entirely sponsored-based). EPCOT now does have a larger IP presence as that’s what brings in the non-diehard fans. If the average guest is paying for mini golf (typically more than what they pay at home), odds are they want to see characters they know and love.
It’s the same reason you see IP integrated to the other Disney courses. Full-fledged IP-less is pretty impossible nowadays

Secondly, I think our course should be a little bit more difficult but I think going full Fantasia fairgrounds is too far cause that second course has really no theming and the fun of mini-golf is in the theming I think.
I was actually talking about in terms of the level of difficulty, not the level of theming. Unless we're completely nixing levels of difficulty in the entire complex?
Nothing is IP free anymoreTo be fair, only Fantasia Gardens has IP and only the regular course. The other three courses at Disney are all IP free
I did forget there was a few more references than I remembered mixed in lol. I think that is a good guide for how we should use IPs though. Incorporated smoothly into the setting and relatively subtle.Nothing is IP free anymore View attachment 474377View attachment 474378
I am absolutely fine with “less IP’s”, I just didn’t want us dinged for realism as it is still a competition where the lowest team has a team member eliminated.
Unorthodox projects...your way!
"Have it your way" might as well be the tagline of this season. Each prompt is going to celebrate the fact that SYWTBAI is the only Armchair Imagineering game that's done wildly outside the box IPs consistently for most of its run. With that in mind, every single prompt will be a little bit outside the lines. You're not going to find many traditional prompts here. With that being said, don't be scared off if you don't want to deep dive into an IP you're not familiar with. This time around each prompt will be an outside the box concept with enough options and variations for what can be done with it to ensure that nobody feels left out in the dark. It's all about diving into the subject matter YOU are passionate about!
That sounds like a good set up to me. I can take whatever we need, I'd prefer either Level 2 or 3 though.Okay, so it looks like we've got a solid plan going! Following @AceAstro's suggestion for the division of the course, we have:
Is everyone on board with this idea? It admittedly sounds ambitious (especially given the time we have left), but I think it will be impressive if we manage to pull it off.
- Level 1 (Holes 1-6): The Museum of Flight (Very Soaring: Fantastic Flight)- tackles the history of aviation and spaceflight/humanity's relationship with the sky
- Transition ideas: Board a historical airplane/hot air balloon and "soar" to the next level
- Level 2 (Holes 7-12): Worlds of Air and Light - shows different "kingdoms"/areas related to the sky, ranging from the mythological to the natural, and to the fantastic. This will probably be the most IP-driven section of the course
- Transition idea: repurposing Disneyland Paris' Columbiad Cannon as a jump-off point to Level 3
- Level 3 (Holes 13-18): Space - a blacklight room, possibly filled with fiber-optic stars (think Neverland in DL's Peter Pan's Flight post-2015 refurb) to give the illusion that the guests are putting on the surface of the moon and other planets.
