Team Odyssey, Tomorrowland

alright we got some catching up to do. We need to come up with our version of Tomorrowland with a re-imagined Autopia.

My suggestion for the re-imagined Autopia is to have it replace the Peoplemover and it instead of it having just its own track, have it weave through the entire land. We could also change the ride mechanism and use the "Flying Saucers" system where guests are pushed by air.

Sorry, I've been a little dizzy all the day, what's on? What is with our current FL-plans? I mean do we now have to design TL AND FL simultaneously?

^ no, we weren't really required to FL yet, (supposedly we have to come up with our entire FL when it's time for FL part 2).

This week is where we are officially in the game and have to work on our Tomorrowland

Maybe divide Tomorrowland into a Spaceport area for Space Mountain and whatever we do for Star Wars, and a Future City with a Meet the Robinsons aesthetic?

EDIT: Also, the idea I had in mind for a revision of Autopia is more of a futuristic take on the Speedway concept for it at WDW and Tokyo, though making the cars more F-Zeroesque.

I say lets divide TL into two sublands. One with a nostalgic "victorian" approach like Discoveryland in DLP, in the tradition of Jules Vernes, H.G. Wells and others (How about a "Time Machine Ride"?) and one with a truly futuristic modern approach, "Spaceport" would be a good name for this one. This would also reduce the refurb-work in the future when the TL-look is considered outdated and has to be adapted, because only the "Spaceport"-part would have to be modernized. I am an avid Star Wars fan but I think that an entire SW-subland would be to much in a MK-style park. Such a land would fit much better into a DHS-style park.
However we should try to do a completely reimagined Space Mountain instead of a simple clone.
And how about a spaceport were you actually can "blast off" to different space-locations, meaning to different planets and their attractions? Spaceport as the sub-hub of the subland.

I kinda agree with Spike about a Star Wars section being abit too much.

I love the Victorian Discoveryland approach and it would give the whole land a more timeless feel. This would also provide a great natural transition point from the 20's Main Street.

I love the sub-hub Spaceport idea too.

My two cents would be creating a multi-level land. Say have it in 3 levels. The middle level, would be the space port section and it would be the main floor level, the top level would then be "Space". While the lower level could be The underwater/Subterranean part.

I was thinking for the Spaceport part we could have a version of "The Timekeeper" but themed to "Doctor Who" (I know it's technically not Disney, but neither is American Idol and just a few years ago it would have been blasphemy to think of Marvel being part of any Disney park...)

The original french Space Mountain ("From the Earth to the Moon") could be the main anchor of the land, and serve as a pre-show to the Space level of the land. We could then have the original Alien Encounter but starring Nikola Tesla, which brings me to another thematic suggestion.

This whole land could be a tribute to great scientists and authors of years past where we see them living their dreams of the future. Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Jules Verne, Mark Twain, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle...

I can already see our version of "Alien Encounter" being one of Tesla's experiments going wrong because he has been sabotaged by Edison, turning his machine into a teleporter that sends in this massive alien from space.

Huh, now the New Horizons idea I had in mind could fit even better here. Could probably build up the Looking Back to the Future further to add more ideas of the future. Also narrated by Tom Selleck because I had this in mind as a Robinsons tie-in, but it works as seeing what inspired Cornelius and it still continues the retro-future feel we're going for.

Also, I remember some MiceChat based idea of a Man in Space based dark-ride rather then Buzz Lightyear that'd be pretty neat to build off of.

Come on guys - what happened to pushing the boundaries here. Are we really just going to go back to the space station and Discoveryland ideas that have already been done?

How about we build the entire Tomorrowland indoors and communicate that its a space station floating in space, with a perpetually starry sky overhead - supernovas and space rockets whizzing by every minute! The Astro Orbitor can be the engines of the SPACE STATION TOMORROWLAND.

Instead of a Victorian vision of the future, perhaps a 17th century vision of the future, like in Treasure Planet. With giant space galleons sailing through the space aetherium. Space Pirates! Spice Smugglers! Plasma cannon balls! Laser musketeers!

Or how about a Tomorrowland set in a dimension BEYOND TIME AND SPACE? A crystalline landscape with futuristic and alien technology, including portals that transport you to alternate dimensions and places throughout time! Instead of a rollercoaster through space, why not a rollercoaster through TIME ITSELF. Or hover bikes that can speed through UNIVERSES.

Sorry I had a little private turmoil. I will write down my ideas for a TL-roster today and post it here later.

that's sort of what I was envisioning for the 3 level Tomorrowland, most of the top floor and the entire bottom floor would be indoors. It would basically be 3 lands in one.

Space Mountain itself could act as a gateway into the top floor "Space Station" or Space Colony. While we could have massive elevators take us down into the Earth's crust for the Underground section of the lower level and then have Submarines take us down into the Underwater City section of it.

We could have the Discoveryland-like ground level as a sort of warm up. Here we get to introduce these concepts to the people by having the great scientists through out history show it to us through various attractions. Say have Einstein intrdocue space travel, Tesla introduce the existence of aliens and alternative energy sources, so and so forth...

Just to let you guys know, your Tomorrowland entry is late. You will not be allowed to work on the current week's assignment until you finish it.
