What about a Rick and Morty Haunted Mansion? Actually, Anatomy Park could prove to be a hilarious miniland now that I think about it.
I agree with basically everything here. And I still really think that we should be focusing on crossover potential, as you mentioned. So yeah, sorry I've been busy the past couple of days. I'm off work tomorrow though, so I'm ready to start.
Looking at mickeyfan's list of cartoons to use, and I'm seeing some possibilities of shared areas. You could have a city for stuff like Gargoyles, Hey Arnold, Powerpuff Girls; a woodsy area for Gravity Falls, Chip and Dale... a neighborhood area would probably be the largest by virtue of the fact that most of the shows take place in neighborhoods. Maybe an "older" style housing development for the Disney Afternoon, 1990s Nick/Cartoon Network stuff with more period appropriate buildings vs. a "newer" development for the modern stuff. And of course we'd have to take into consideration areas for less traditional shows like Adventure Time or Spongebob (or what would we use for something like Animaniacs or Ren and Stimpy?).
The crossover element should be a lot of fun. Off the top of my head I'm thinking maybe something about Dexter trying to show off his latest invention, but he gets interrupted by Jimmy Neutron or Phineas and Ferb trying to show off their inventions? Or a Gravity Falls/Courage crossover.
Yeah, I did, but that concept art is so outdated. I actually still have the write-up for the queue, but the actual attraction is missing. I could always modernize the concept art as well. Just depends on what our needs are.Hey @Basketbuddy101, didn't you once come up with a SpongeBob ride concept? Maybe we could use that in our project...
Sounds good, and I second the vote for leader. So, I don't mean to be that guy, but we really need to get going on this. We have a week to do this, and we've just had to scrap anything. I've posted a bunch of ideas above, as have a few others. Let's really solidify this so we can get to work. I'm still doing a bit of research (mainly on Adult Swim) and will be back with a list of a few more options (including what I mentioned yesterday) and what a few other people have mentioned just so we have it in one place for simplicity's sake.
We also need to decide on a team leader. I'd be ok with taking it if none of you want it, but we should probably figure that out as soon as possible.
I'm also thinking that Cartoon Planet might be a cool name for our land. It's a reference to an old programming block on Cartoon Network, which would work not only for nostalgia's sake, but would also modernize our land and set us apart a bit more from the ToonTowns.
Cool. Also, I thought that I had a copy of your Spongebob ride in my admittedly small archive from SYWTBAI, but I do not.Sounds good, and I second the vote for leader.
I would do the latter. Let's just go crazy and see what's feasible.I third the vote. Do you think we should decide the number of attractions beforehand and work from there, or keep brainstorming and pick which ones we like the best?
I agree with everything. Using Diagon Alley as a jumping point for the Adult Swim area is an incredible idea. We could make this look like a super dense city with that type of design. And it would allow us to look at a lot of other IPs as well. Archer and the like could fit perfectly here as well, if we want to go down that road. I also really like having indoor areas. Perhaps a walkthrough or two could help flesh this out as well.I'm liking the Adult Swim "city" idea flanked by a more family-friendly "suburbs". Perhaps we could use Diagon Alley at Universal as a jumping off point for our ideas there, with different twisting and turning streets as you get farther into the city (including some indoor parts, like the Knockturn Alley area at USF). Perhaps each street with a different "concept", be it science fiction or slice-of-life comedy.
With the suburbs, the easiest jumping off point would of course be the actual Toontown at Disneyland, but I'm thinking something larger and less spread-out. Same deal with the city, each street could have a different unifying theme to it.
Jesus I totally forgot that we could use Ducktales. We should totally do this. Some random ideas:
-A Bob's Burgers restaurant in the adult section
-Spongebob Submarine Voyage?
-EMV ride for Venture Brothers or Rick and Morty
I think by the nature of it most of the thrill rides would have to go in the city and dark rides in the suburbs.
EDIT: JokersWild already suggested the Scrooge McDuck Tower of Terror idea. I really like it, and the bank vault could certainly be a striking and iconic symbol for the area in the way that the ToT is in real life.
A Ducktales -themed Haunted Mansion sounds like a solid fit. Can we roll with this?Jesus I totally forgot that we could use Ducktales. We should totally do this.
