The only thing I'm not necessarily with you on is that the Haunted Mansion is in Halloweentown. I personally like the idea of Jack kinda invading it uninvited and just inviting people over. I think that it could be kinda fitting with his character for inspiration to strike him and him getting out of control with his excitement. I dunno. I think it could be fun.

I know what you mean. In fact, the whole reason he got into Christmas so much is because he invaded it uninvited. Maybe we could set this after the events of the film. Jack and "Sandy Claws" have made amends over the whole "nightmare before Christmas fiasco" (can we have the characters refer to it as such when we do the script?), and ever-curious, Jack wants to learn more about Christmas...and, for that matter, all of the other holidays! Thus, we have the colloquium @JokersWild described.

We could use projections; we could use special lighting; heck, with a franchise like this, we could even use low-level pyro! Maybe, since Oogie is such a showman, we could have tiny pyro bursts go off or something.
I don't think there are any precedents for fire in the Haunted Mansion. Given the recent outbursts of fire at it's a small world at Disneyland and the parking structure, maybe it would be wise in terms of realism to only simulate the fire a la Pirates of the Caribbean. Just my two cents though!

True. Plus, I think a simple Pepper's Ghost effect would be easier to take down after the holidays end.

Yeah, effects-wise I think computer-mapped projections are about as advanced as we could realistically get for a temporary overlay like this. Not to say we can't use other effects, but like DisneyMan said keep it confined to easier things like Pepper's Ghost or forced perspective.

Actually, doing that could really allow us to bring some old-school charm to the overlay...

Yeah, in an age where everything's just screens and projections, it'd be nice to do some old-school effects again.

I really like the idea of a holiday colloquium at the Haunted Mansion. There's massive potential for clever gags. Keep in mind, the omnimover means that we will always be passive observers to the festivities before going super plot heavy.

Yes
I just had a small idea: since it is a meeting for all holidays, the guests/riders themselves could be standing-in for silly, second-tier holidays like: "attention, please welcome the ambassadors from Flag
Day-town" "hello, nice shirt, you must be here from Tax Day-town"

That sounds absolutely amazing. I'm sure that we could do most of the set up in the queue. Remember that HM has an interactive queue at WDW. We could certainly use this to our advantage.
