HERE IS THE BRAINSTORMING THREAD FOR THE SANTA CRUZ BEACH BOARDWALK

STANZA V - PATCH 'EM UP

We’re a long way from Disneyland! Welcome to the untamed wilderness of Regional Parks. Out here, even Six Flags and Cedar Fair are too corporate. Our attentions now turn to independently-operated parks and their wholly unique charms.

The villains are closing in, and our heroes must combine their strengths. To survive, you must become Team Heroes.

Your task: Using $250 million per park, Team Heroes must make 4 regional parks into vacation-worthy destinations.

Exactly what makes a “vacation-worthy destination?” Something which would make you say "Forget Orlando next year! We're going to that amusement park in Utah!"

Naturally these regional parks don’t have the advantage of popular IPs or an Orlando location, so we're not expecting Wizarding World of Harry Potter or anything. Given your locations and limitations, what can you achieve?

We should also keep it boardwalk-y. I can’t count the amount of articles that mention it’s retro appeal.

We CANNOT get rid of the roller coaster there. That is monumental

Yeah, it's too classic. I don't know about space, but maybe we could do another e - ticket to give the park more than just the haunted castle and giant dipper. I read that a clown themed dark ride was more popular than the dipper at one point, so maybe a spiritual successor to that?

I saw we get rid of Rock and Roll. That ride, to me, is screaming to get out of that place.

Looking at the lineup there are two drop towers and bumper cars, we could get rid of one or both of the clones for some new rides.

I'm a fan of rock and roll personally, but I agree. It does not fit as well.

We should keep Double Shot

Also either get rid or retheme ghost blasters. Or make a ghost/spooky themed miniland.

Seems like there's a lot of clones here to take care of and replace (if we decide to).

It looks like you were haha. I will link the doc once I find it, but what if we made a similar land to that. It could be like a Haunted Boardwalk or something like that.

Yeah, that's a good idea, the under the boardwalk section does seem like the horror section already. It would make sense to expand it more. Just make sure that all of our attention is on the park though, and not the horror land.

Got it! What if we rethemed the Log ride. I feel we could make it a better theme to fit that part of the land.

Yeah, we should! I think there are few rides here deserving of more theming. We just got to make sure to keep it boardwalk-y. I also think the kiddie land needs a theme, believe it or not.

Here is a rough idea of some themes:

Log ride area: Beach

Kiddie area: Under the Sea theme

Haunted area: Haunted Boardwalk

Now I admittedly don't remember where things are located, but the cave train interests me. If the kiddie rides are spread out, we could relocate them to there. But I have to look up a map to see if this is doable.

Looking at the map, I say we need 4 themes. I can't seem to figure out how to theme Double Shot and the other rides in that area differently.

It's near Neptune's Kingdom, so maybe that's our under the sea land?

For real It has always been so creepy to me.

I'm thinking Giant dipper is space themed.
"Under the boardwalk" is haunted themed.
"Double Shot" is under the sea themed
Kiddie area/"Speedway" is city themed? Unsure for now.

I like Under the Sea and Haunted theme but I am not sure about the city theme. I feel we are venturing away from the beach-y feel of of things. I am okay retheming Giant Dipper to space but what would land would that tie into?

And yeah, I am unsure about city. If you have any ideas for the kiddie area, feel free to share. I am stumped.

Maybe Kiddie area will just be the "Classic land"? IDK
Because Ferris Wheel and being near giant dipper.

It is so hard to theme a land with a weird layout. I have to go do something, but I will be back in about 30 minutes. Hopefully I can think of something!

I like it! Maybe just not all Dino. What if we did more of a tropical area.

Ok! So what i have so far is that the Drop Tower area is more of a beach-y, under the sea feel. The Haunted House are is the Haunted Boardwalk area. The Kiddie/Giant Dipper area is a tropical land.

Yep. I was also thinking of giving the dipper itself a space theme, but that may not fit well. I don't know, what do you think?

Ehh. I don't think Space fits well on the boardwalk. That is why I don't like all the space rides they have there.

Yeah true. No space then! Maybe since we are doing tropical in the area, have some trees around it!

Freefall and Doubleshot: Drop rides
Speedbumps and Space Race: Bumper cars
Jet Copters, Red Baron, Sea Dragons and Bulgy: Dumbo rides
Speedboats, Convoy, Kiddie Cruisers, and Speedway: Autopia rides

I say we get rid of Freefall because most kids don't like high dropping rides. Get rid of Space Race. The rest I honestly don't know because there are so many of them haha

Sure kids don't, but teens do, so keeping freefall could be a draw.
To keep the beach theming of the kiddie area, I'd say keep sea dragons or bulgy and the speedboats. Red baron may fit, but I think sea dragons or bulgy would fit more.
I agree, get rid of space race.

I can go with that. Now, where does each land start and stop.

Of course these names are not final, but creative names are not important right now!

Across it is a restaurant and some beach. We could keep the restaurant and add some rides to the beach. I don't want to get rid of that restaurant. I'm afraid I have too much sentimental attachment to it.

But it is small enough that you could. I will miss you, beautiful snacks.

I love it! I always thought it needed some dining instead of all the snack stands.

I'm thinking either underwater or tropical since those are already "there" compared to our haunted land expansion. Let's start with underwater since that's a little easier than tropical.

What if the cart was a submarine and there was an octopus at the top pulling you up. When your at the top you hear creaking noises and then you fall. Very rough idea but it is something.

Ooh I like that! I was thinking bottom but I also knew that wouldn’t make much sense. Top works better.
