Project Three: Animation Domination

Here we come to one of the most open ended and fun projects of the season. For this round, teams will design a dark ride based around an animated series from the era of their choice. (pre-2000s) This will be a stand-alone attraction to go into a park of your choosing and can be Disney, Universal, or even Six Flags if you choose to go the Looney Tunes route. The only requirement is that it must be based on an IP that started life as an animated series. IE no Aladdin, Batman, or anything of that nature.

Oh yea, and did I mention you have to go old school on this? For older members of the cast, working with animated properties from 1999 and before might seem like an advantage, for most of the younger cast the lack of obvious IPs like Avatar and Phineas and Ferb can potentially make things difficult. Either way, communication is going to be key this round as I'm sure there will be strong opinions on exactly what IP you want to go with. The attraction being created should be a stand-alone dark ride that can fit into a pre-existing land in a park of your choosing. An entrance plaza for the ride is fine, but please nothing beyond that. The scale of this should be a D ticket at the most ambitious. We'll get to a proper E ticket project later.

Good luck teams, this project is due Friday, June 12th at 11:59PM Eastern

My first thought was Scooby Doo since that IP will pretty much last forever, but that's been done before as a dark ride at a fe different US parks before.

Flintstones has potential, but I don't know if kids really know what it is.

Still have to think about it a bit more.

Here are some potential ideas
Disney Afternoon:
1. Ducktales omni-mover
2. Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers suspended dark ride
3. Talespin dark ride
I don’t know if these count as pre-exiting IPs or not
Nickelodeon:
1. Hey Arnold flashlight tag (similar to Monsters Inc ride and go seek in Tokyo)
2. Sponge bob (maybe too obvious)
3. Rugrats dark ride
4. Wild Thornberries
Hannah Barbara:
1. Scooby Doo (again too obvious)
2. Yogi Bear
3. Wacky Races
Cartoon Network:
Dexter’s Lab
Powerpuff Girls
Amalgamation of CN characters

I have to head out soon, but I thought that I'd pop in to post some potential ideas:

.Wacky Races
.Animaniacs (I've worked on one before, but it leads itself extremely well to an attraction.
.We could pander to tiki and do Freakazoid, but I haven't watched it in an extremely long time.
.Courage the Cowardly Dog
.Wallace and Gromit
.Ren and Stimpy (this one could be amazing.)
.Futurama (premiered in 1999. Might have to ask permission to use the IP)
.Powerpuff Girls

I'll try to see if I can think of any more.

Also, unless someone else wants it, I have no issues with being Team Leader for this round. I know way too much about cartoons, and I'd really love it for us to knock this one out of the park.

Oh, @JokersWild, you innocent fool. Dragon is the big Freakazoid fan. If you want to pander to Tiki, Courage is clearly the correct option :p

Ducktales omni-mover
A Ducktales indoors bi-plane family coaster with dark ride elements could work too. Especially as a replacement of Gadget's, the Treehouse, and some of the space near Mickey's House.

I also like Wacky Racers and Wallace and Gromit, maybe as Kidz Zone replacements at USF.

Gonna have to put my foot down on something like this. It'd be a fun concept, but the challenge of this prompt is to pick one particular IP. That being said, IPs that are crossovers by nature (Wacky Racers is the only one that come to mind right now) are on the table.

It is (kinda) getting a spiritual successor with the upcoming series Jellystone using a similar premise of a Hanna Barbera crossover.

Is this an old cartoon or a parody of an old cartoon. Because if it’s really an old cartoon, then I don’t know if there’s a person alive today that remembers what it is.
I can confirm there are a few people who remember it (including a certain person in a Max Headroom mask), but I don't know if anyone seriously likes it. At least we got hilarious parodies out of it like this:

God bless Edwin Gillete for inventing Syncro-Vox (putting live actions lips over 2D imagery). It's so memorable, but looks so stupid!

It’s a shame that Mr. Skipperdoo never made it into the incredibles films.

Another different thing that we could possibly look at is anime. The only issue is that most anime are based off of manga. The only one that I can think of offhand that isn't is Gundam.

I don't necessarily want to do anime, but it's something slightly different that the other teams aren't talking about.
