Oh no! I actually just made a reservation for them yesterday :p Either way it seems like a cool place and I’m excited to see the environment (and think it would be great to pair with the industrial coaster here!)
It might have fixed this, I just remember it had some identity issues during the first few weeks. (I think the opening might have been rush a bid0

So I'm really struggling to come up with a Ride idea for the E-Ticket in Old Virginia. One Idea was a boat ride to take Guest through the Revolutionary War from the Ride of Paul Revere to the Battle of Yorktown (which would be a giant ship finale like the Shanghai Potc).
But I'm trying to figure out if there would be enough action..

Does there need to be an overload of action? Just food for thought.

Maybe if we add a drop to the ride, that would provide us with an exciting finale.

What can you do in Kings Dominion which you can’t do in Disney World? It seems the unique factor is incorporating the local Virginian history. What if you could do a historical boat ride about the Revolution which is equal parts POTC and EPCOT? AAs, screens for the naval battles, minor thrills.

From a general design perspective I’d say there probably doesn’t, but at the same time we have to consider the audience for this park which will likely be more interested in high action and excitement. A big drop like you said might be able to do it though. Maybe do something more along the lines of splash mtn than pirates, where the actual storytelling part isn’t necessarily exciting (giving an EPCOT esque story to follow for classic disney fans looking for that), all the whole tension is building to the big final drop for the thrill seekers.

I like that idea.

Good points.

How could we work a drop into a Revolutionary War attraction? Are there any notable waterfalls in VA @Voxel ?

Pocahontas’s River Journey

As part of this multi-year expansion into Disney’s Kings Dominion, the Shenandoah Lumber Company log flume will be transformed into the Pocahontas River Journey. Guest will join Pocahontas and her forest friends on an exploration of Old Virginia, so flow with the colors of the wind and set forth in adventure.

After loading the raft, Meeko will quickly lead them on to their forest adventure. Guest will be amazed as the forest around them comes alive as the trees wave in the wind and forest animals begin popping their head out of the foliage as guest find theirselves deeper in the woods. The ride will take guest deeper into the forest, until they find theirselves circling Grandmother Willow. As the log journey’s passes the wise words of Grandmother Willow can be heard as they begin the climb, “All around you are spirits, child. They live in the earth, the water, the sky. If you listen, they will guide you.”

As guest begin to rise, the music from Colors of the Wind will be fine building up as reach the top of the lift hill. Finally, like Pocahontas, guest will dive off the tallest cliff in Virginia into the river below.

Making their way back towards the station, guest will see the construction of what looks like a new European fort in the distance as the Animals guide them home.

Alright I got a layout for the dark ride ready. It uses an inverted wild mouse base in RCT3 (I find that it works well for dark rides)
