Teacups new roof? (not news, question)

The only thing I can see with a glass roof would be the possible accumulation of mineral or plant deposits from the rain and surrounding trees (just look at the build-up on the current roof after about a year), but thats nothing that a yearly cleaning couldn't fix.

That and condensation leading to the roof being a real mess to look at. It would probably only take a few months before the whole thing started growing a nice green film on the underside due to it being such a nice humid surface with plenty of sun light. It would end up looking more like the green house for the haunted mansion than a set piece from Fantasy set piece from Alice. lol

Florida has thousands of green houses without green algae growing everywhere. The Contemporary has massive skylights which have weathered hurricanes and hailstones. The DLP roof would just need to be pressure washed as needed ... like the turntable should have been.

You sound like TDO justifying the swell roof they just rehabbed. It's dark and gloomy under there with about as much style as a tractor shed.

You make some good points, but to be honest last summer when we ate supper at California Grill the large windows looked really bad. We had a window seat and the outside of the glass was covered with condensation and scum....maybe I can dig up a pic to better illustrate what I am talking about. Anyway I was just giving a reason why they might choose not to use glass as the main facade of an attraction.

CA Grill - Living 30 years in Florida you learn it's all about the maintenance. If there is water on the inside they should be upgraded to thermal windows with two layers of glass. Probably those windows just need cleaning or maybe my wife could make the same face I see when it's time to clean mine. That'll get 'em cleaning!

Teacups - Seriously the biggest problem would be the selection of glass product. Something highly UV reflective to keep it cool underneath. Many restaurants and hotels in Florida have glass roofs, skylights and atriums - just look at the airport.

Mold down here likes dark humid places ... just like the existing Shed. I wish they, at least, had cut skylights into the old design. Like Hearts, Spades, Clubs and Diamonds it could have helped.
