Tap of Dreams/ Tap of Nations

Because Rob left... :animwink:

My guess was partly it had run its course and was not longer as applicable to the World Showcase, but also I think the physical impact of those costumes on the CM's (as much as we might have enjoyed seeing them) was a real concern.

not the physical impact on cm's as much as the damage caused to the puppets during "regular" use. I opened that parade doing angel and something was always breaking not to mention that they had to re-paint the body and replace the wing because they faded within the first 6 monthes. also, the poles that held the puppets to the backpack would bend all the time. I just think the cost out weighed the benifit at some point.

Tap of Dreams...that was running during both of my CP (well, it closed during my last CP and I was there closing night) so that has to be my favorite!

I only saw the original millenium version (tap of nations?) and I loved it. I thought it was fantastic!! I have some really great photos of it (sorry, the old fashion kind and I don't have a scanner to post them), right up close with the CM's faces, and I never would have guessed that they had problems or that the weights were an issue. HATS OFF to any CM who did this parade! I am WAY impressed! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Tapestry of Nations seemed to make a lot more sense (well, as much sense as an impressionistic parade like that can make). With TOD, it was obvious that the thinking was "Okay, now how do we re-hash this for the 100YOM without costing too much." By going to TOD, TON lost a lot of its symbolism and meaning. I preferred TON for that reason.

I was on my CP and there closing night, too. I thought ToD was great, but I never saw ToN. I just really liked the concept of interaction with the puppets. It was a maintenance and traffic-control nightmare, though.

I heard that another reason was that the stilts they used caused an accident...But that's an inter-Disney rumor, I suppose.

Parade

I loved both versions!! I was surprised when they took it away, but I can understand why. As amazing and cool as those "puppets" were, I always wondered how the CM's were able to carry those things while dancing!!! Do you think they will do another parade?

Tapestry of Nations was definately our favorite of the two, and quite possibly our favorite Disney parade of all time. Beautiful music, wonderfully fun costumes (and drums!), great integration with the torches, and stirring without beating the message over your head.

We felt Tapestry of Dreams lost some of that, partially because it took away the Sage of Time, which was one of our favorites, but also because it didn't quite fit. Nations was a great first act, with Illuminations being the second act, but they didn't tie together as well when it became Dreams.

Still... its a shame neither is around anymore. (Understandable, but still a shame.)

I liked ToN over ToD. I like the Dreamseekers (especially Elfin :lookaroun) from ToD, but they just didn't seem to belong in the parade, maybe in Imagination(a neo-classic style form, no Institute crap...) or another park.
The Sage of Time was an awesome character ranking with Dreamfinder and Figment as some of the best characters of Epcot's history.
