"Tangled" in the parks

I'm not sure how many have seen "Tangled" yet, but I absolutely LOVED this movie!!! Though it was not a hand-drawn flick, this has to be the newest Disney animated classic! It has so many of the key elements that modern classics such as "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast". I know there are already Meet & Greets in the parks, but who else thinks "Tangled" needs something in WDW or DL, or both?

It NEEDS a dark ride. The movie screams it.

yes it does! I thought the tower that Rapunzel was stuck in for the first 17 years of her life looked so good on the screen! Maybe put that in the new Fantasyland??? hmm...what kind of dark ride would you like to see? or other types of attractions?

I think it'd be most appropriate @ the MK. Voyage of the LM is in its proper spot @ the Studios--they need more than one musical show. I'm trying to imagine a dark ride. I like that idea, but the image of the Rapunzel tower in the new Fantasyland has me right now.

I think a traditional Dark Ride. In the boat. And it really felt Broadway bound too! Loved finally getting a princess who's interest is Art. We have Singing, Reading, Cooking and Painting. Love it. And Now we have a Princess who's color is purple. Now we need red and orange.

Just finished the movie about an hour ago. It truly brought out the classic Disney princess(music!!!!!) Alan Menken did not disappoint at all w/ the music--it brought me to Belle the most of all the princesses. I can see this as a Broadway show. WDW and/or DL needs a new dark ride. All of them now are from the older movies(except Pooh--which by the way, the new queue is SICK!). If they brought a dark ride w/ a newer Disney flick to the table--pure AWESOMENESS

Oh the music was so great!!! "Mother Knows Best".. As I have said and will say so much more, this brought back the Disney classic-ness that Disney needs now! I never saw "Princess and the Frog", but this seems and I hope that this is a "re-boot" for Disney now.

Well, I honestly liked Princess and the Frog better. But these are both great and are instant classics in MY book. :)

Beside this topic, I checked out your page. We have the same favorites for the park, attraction, and parade. Anyways, I really do want to check out "Princess and the Frog"--doesn't seem to get as much notice in the parks though(it's still early I guess)

A ride/attraction might be based on how much money it makes initially and then how much Attention/Merchandise it can sell when it has been out of theaters and its DVD has been out for awhile. Thats my guess.

Yes, I want to see pics of the meet-and-greet. It still is very, very early for an attraction, but I just thought it would be great. Plus, Disney needs a new dark ride!!! Ahhhh!! Ok, new thread!! hehe :)

Brer Frog, watch the movie before the soundtrack alone. I am not saying this movie replaces any of the modern classics. I am saying that it is a NEW CLASSIC and brings something fresh and so good to us! Alan Menken does GREAT with the soundtrack, bringing in some familiar sounding Disney princess style, with still putting in new material! SO GOOD!!!

Just came back from the movie, and I can say that the lyrics and soundtrack are well-done, but the movie has many moments where it gears towards the modern audience, which I don't think allows it to be a "timeless classic" (I preferred the Princess and the Frog).

However, it's still Disney's modern classic, and I'll probably go see it again...don't get the fuss about the "villain song", though.

I saw the movie yesterday and I still say Princess and the Frog is a better movie. It was a good movie once it got past the 30 minute mark and they actually got into town. I didn't care too much for the villain, she was no Jafar or Dr. Facilier. As far as the music goes, I'm not sure why people love Alan Menken's music in this movie, I though Randy Newman did a much better job of creating timeless songs on the last movie. I'd take Friends on the Other Side over that Mother knows Best song as far as the stronger song. I cringed a bit when Rapunzel sang " then it's like seven-fifteen". All in all I thought the movie was good but definitely isn't one of the greatest Disney films out there.

Pretty sure she's not supposed to be. With those characters they flatout looked evil, in this case it was a 'more than meets the eye' situation. Rapunzel truly believes this woman is her mother. Mother Gothel's evil had to be understated to an extent, otherwise it'd be Evil Stepmother part 2. To be quite honest she's probably the most realistic villain I can think of, a mentally abusive mother figure...yikes.

Thank you! Their attempt to cater to a younger, more "hip" audience will affect this from becoming a timeless classic, while TPatF was fantastic to say the least. The villain didn't have enough impact to leave a mark, and the comic relief characters weren't so entertaining as they were annoying.

After TPatF, I was really hoping that Disney could step up their game and try and beat that for their 50th, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Not saying it's a bad movie, but it's no classic.
