Talking Mickey Meet & Greets in Testing again.

I just received a report that Disney has once again been testing meet and greets with Talking (and blinking) Mickey in the Town Square Mickey Meet and Greet in the Magic Kingdom. This makes sense to me, because now that the princesses have been evicted, they have room for the technology in the old princess meet and greet space.

Can anyone confirm or deny this report?

It's much more complicated than push, but yes, same concept. Think of someone else remotely controlling your own face and voice.

Yes, interactive talking Mickey is back at TST, but it's unrelated to the princesses departure (that space will be used for other things).

Catfury, it's nothing like Push.

See... THIS is the kind of stuff they should spend money on to develop and then market. THIS is the kind of thing that would actually cause families to book a trip to WDW.

This one seems like it had more lag, and more canned that other tests. Was this a different style of Talking Mickey with "canned" responses?

Agree. Once we did Turtle Talk the first time, it was our first Must Do the next 3-4 trips.

This is actually all tied in to MM+ (magic bands specifically). The characters will know your name and greet you personally when you arrive.

I get that, but one is not dependent on the other. They didn't need MM+ to develop this tech.

And if they wanted Mickey to know a kid's name, MM+ didn't have to be a technical requirement to make that happen. They could do that a number of different ways.

As I understand it there is space for four "Mickeys" at this location.
Did they also build four desks for the face/voice actors to work as well?
Not that it matters. They could be in Des Moines with a good internet connection and have this work.

Oh we had him on September 13th.. it was down right creeeeeepy! Nathan looked at me after and was like... did he just talk to me?! I could only laugh...

But on the technology side.. it worked amazing!

Was he full interactive (names and clothes)? or was he doing bits with no interaction?

We went through there today, but he wasn't being tested. Was still fun. Maybe one day we'll be lucky enough to wander in on a test.

We have tried no less than 9 times to be lucky enough to wander in on a test over the past 2 years. We have finally given up and are waiting to see if it ever really goes live.

Seeing Talking Mickey in person would be the highlight of our trip. I hope they get it all perfected and out of testing so he can be there on a permanent basis.
