I didn’t have any of the potatoes, mac ‘n cheese or fried chicken. Mike said they were all really good.

Our server wasn’t very personable, but I left her a nice tip anyway. Probably not her fault that she is so awkward. Maybe not the right career for her though.

After all that, she still somehow managed to not return my credit card to me. That’s why I don’t like when they don’t do it at the table.

Luckily I realized while we were still in the shop downstairs. By the time we went back up the escalator, it had already been put in the safe by the manager. I was quite happy when the manager asked for photo ID before just handing it over to me … even though I had given them the name on the card, it’s colour, and the issuing bank before they retrieved it.

We were going to do steak again tonight. T-bones again, don’t judge me; but instead we’ve decided to skip lunch altogether and go to Paula Deen’s early. I’m sure we’ll still have to put our name on the waiting list, but the earlier we go, I suspect the shorter the wait will be.

In case y’all forgot, this is the menu:

3 Down Home Dishes, 4 Famous Sides, 1 Southern Dessert.

The menu sounds delicious. I wonder what tobacco onions are though, they are served with the meatloaf. Tobacco onions don't sound too tasty. Looking forward to seeing what you got to eat.
Edit: I should have kept reading, I see you posted pictures.. Yum!

Thin sliced, soaked in buttermilk, dredged in a spicy flour mixture, and then deep fried. So says Google. We would call them onion straws or onion strings.

It’s the weekend. The campground is packed! I don’t think there’s an empty spot in the house.

Way too many little kids running around loose. I was not a helicopter parent … more the “quit crying or I’ll give you something to cry about” type, but even I am stressed at seeing 3 and 4 years running around willy-nilly, hundreds of metres from their own camp site.

I am hesitant to post these pics as I am so overfull it’s not even funny, but I know @trr1 would never forgive me.

Mike got sweetened peach iced tea. The tiny sip I had made my teeth hurt. Got regular unsweetened.

Good to know there isn’t any real tobacco in the ingredients. 🤪🙂
My mother in law was a wonderful cook, but her gravy was tasteless wallpaper paste; but hey, at least it had a lovely hue. She used to colour it with a spoonful of instant coffee.

It was not good.

Now my mother, she was not much of a cook (see, I come by it naturally), but her gravy was lovely. Absolute perfection. Mine is pretty good too … when I can be bothered.

What adventures do you, Mike, and the pup have planned for today?
It’s the weekend. Traffic is insane, so nothing outside of the park, unless we’re heading northwest AWAY from Pigeon Forge. We went south into town yesterday, and it took us 45 minutes to travel 3 miles on the Parkway, before we cut could over to hop on a parallel route.

We have to go to the Staples in Maryville before the tax-free weekend ends. I’m getting Mike the Garmin RV 890. It’s a GPS specifically for RV’s. You punch in your height and length, and it programs your routes for you, taking into account low bridges and other impediments to a vehicle our size. (With the truck attached, we are more than 10 feet longer than a bus, and 2 feet taller … although nowhere near as big as a transport truck.)
